The feel of the new cabs is so much more dynamic. Axe FX levels of realistic, authentic amp tone and feel.
really? thats why I gave up my helix for kemper and quad cortex, would love to come back if it actually feels better

The helix's main setback has always been the stock cabs. All us metal heads have hated them since the helix came out. Honestly, it's the reason so many of us use third-party IRs for recording and FOH. These new cabs sound like third-party IRs. It's insane how much of an improvement it is. Plus, they finally added the ampeg fridge for the bass cabs. I'm excited about that because I made some fridge IRs. I finally have a helix cab to the helix cab to.

@@TONEWARSgearshow you can get kind of crazy with the dual cab feature and go for the fredman technique. Use the same cab on both sides. One mic at the sweet spot and another on a 45. It's huge. I do it all the time in my studio. It's also known as the in flames clayman sound.
@@AndrewStonerock I've been using York Audio's 212 DV77 IR - the mix one with the Fredman setup. I'll have to try setting up the cabs that way and compare.

Great run through Jarrod!!! I'm off to recreate your preset on my Helix and HX Stomp. I got my Helix on the 1st shipment back in October of 2015. It's amazing that 7 years later it still keeps getting better and better. I got an email from Line 6 saying that, since the Helix 1st shipped, there have been 16 free firmware updates that added 47 amps, 31 cabs, 187 effects and scores of new features. One super cool thing in the 3.5 update is that they reduced the DSP usage for the cabs and IR's by 66-80%. Running 2 IR's now uses less DSP than 1 did previously.
Thanks for commenting and for the kind words. I agree, they've really been good at updating this product and supporting it the whole time it's been out. I was also one of the 1st people in Michigan to get mine when it was 1st released.
I'll be going live with it in a little bit here. I'm going to build a preset with some snapshots and then play it in some mixes.

Just made a super mean MK IV tone with a Cali V30 and XXL V30 with a 808 boost and LA comp, these stock cabs sound great now! Line 6 really came through
Looks like it's time to dust off the old helix. Sounds great, and full. I stopped using my modelers after I got the blug amp1 for live shows. I certainly used the hell out of the helix, It's looking rough. But she still turns on. Thanks for showing this. I would have never known.

You didn't show the Amp lead snapshot settings. Great vid though and love the tones!
I have the HX effects. It has IR capabilities. I'm running it via 4cm with a tube amp. Trying to figure it out to running a cable from hx to powered mixer to run FOH instead of a mic. I know there are different signal paths, etc that are needed. Any ideas?
I think I'm following what you're trying to do. I can see how, with HX Effects, you could easily get the preamp side of your amp to work by going out the amp's effects send. I don't know how you could possibly get the poweramp section of your amp back into the HX Effects without putting a mic on a cab or using an attenuator/loadbox.
I used to do the same with a peavy jsx; replaced it with a Orange Pedal baby and it was the best decision I've made in awhile no joke. I'd recommend looking into it, or another power amp.

Hey, watched your other video where you’ve hidden Kemper behind the “?” In the video :) How do you feel about Helix considering the recent update? I’m considering between Helix and FM3, mostly for rock/hi gain sounds. Do you think Helix has improved in terms of getting closer to that feel/sound that Fractal can produce?
Good question. Honestly I think the helix is sounding good. The update didn't really improve the overall sound, it just gave us more features.
That said, you mentioned Helix and FM3. Why not consider the Kemper?
Are you going to get some presets out from this? Some of the settings were changed in the background so aren't really shown
Are you asking if I'm going to be making a preset for marketplace?

Great video. The Line 6 Helix/Stomp/and Pod go always seem to get the Bronze when compaired to Kemper and Axe FX...Obviously 3rd party IR's make a HUGE difference..It's nice to see Line6 continously uprgrading existing models...getting closer!! Makes me want to pick up anoth Line6 unit. Nice job.
Thank you for commenting. There are definitely some great things about the heal experience I think the interface is awesome. The cabs have always been lacking in my opinion. Hopefully this will give them a better shot at winning the race.

But for me the Master on Vitriol is too high. 5 or less is best for metal. It's more tight.
Turning master that high really oversaturate the amp and it's not as tight as it can be.
But I think you know what you are doing and this is just your preference.

The real solution is to just never use a cab, straight amp sound, baby! LOL! Seriously, being able to move the mic is great and the fact that it uses A LOT less DSP is huge too.

TONE WARS! Please realize when you change the delay of one speaker to 4 milliseconds, then delay the next speaker 4 milliseconds, you ultimately delayed both speakers the same. I watch you mess around with the delays of both speakers during this video at about 6 minutes in. You may want to take down this video and repost it. It looks really silly when you mess around with both speakers delays. It also causes confusion for people that are relying on this video for direction. Only delay one speaker.
Thanks for commenting. You know what's funny? I was wondering why they allowed us to move the delay on both speakers. I'm not used to that feature being like that ... on the 2 notes captor X, you just move one "slider" and it sets the delay for you.
I was just playing around with it in the video just to show what you can do with it. And like I said in the video, it's been a while since I've messed with the helix software.
Again, it's really weird that you can move the delay on both speakers.
