Very nice! I was there. February 17, 2022. Blizzard conditions in Chicago, I took the train downtown and tramped through snow to symphony hall. Riccardo Muti greeted the crowd with "you are all very brave." Amazing performance by the CSO as usual. Wish I had been there for the Friday concert to see the composer.
I heard the CSO and Maestro Muti in Budapest at Béla Bartók National Concert Hall....fantastic, uniqe orchestral sound at the highest standanrd in the world. They started the concert with Glass: The Triump of the Octagon...
@@wzdavi No. It was commissioned by the Bruckner Orchestra Linz, Istanbul International Music Festival, and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. It premiered January 31, 2017, Glass's 80th birthday, with Dennis Russell Davies conducting the Bruckner Orchestra Linz at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Riccardo Muti/CSO commissioned The Triumph of the Octagon, that was premiered last year in Chicago.
I was there the night Mr. Glass was in the audience. A stunning performance and a humbling experience. Saw Koyaanisqatsi at the Gene Siskel Theater that afternoon. A perfect day!
Bravo!

Was this a commission, and world premiere by the CSO?
