- Age of Empires The Rise of Rome Expansion Tutorial: Getting to the bronze age in under 15 minutes. Bronzing quickly can be difficult for new players. At the same time, this is an important skill in multiplayer games. This tutorial shows a basic strategy on how to get to the bronze age in under 15 minutes.
Note: this is a default setting random map strategy. Strategies for other game settings will be made in the future.

I bet this strategy is considerably easier to pull off in the Definitive Edition.
specially when you can pratice it in single player because you can have more population up to 250

when I started ill build then send a scout to explore and ill build a barracks there. so they can build fast

How does the strat change on maps without water? I would assume you skip the docks (obviously) and focus more on villagers, finding berries, gazelles, and elephants, right?
Yes that is right. I just made this video first because It is probably one of the easiest strategies to begin with. I will make a video on how to perform a fast bronze in a map without water later this week as well as some general tips on getting food wood, etc.
Highland often has zero water, general rule is to hit tool at 24-26 villagers. You can still bronze in about 12.30 - 13:30 Mins if you balance your wood/food, but it'll take at least 14.30 minutes before you can pump out chariot archers from 5 ranges. You can change your population to 200, many of us would have 80-130 peons (workers) in a multiplayer game with a massive economy.
Actually, highland will sometimes cointain water.

but harder ai sometimes rushes you and you cant pull this
I don't know about the Definitive Edition, but the AI cheats on Hard, and Hardest difficulty on the Original AoE, and RoR. It's given extra resources to start with, and that's all that's really different from playing on Moderate, (the last difficulty where it plays fair). It's why it clicks up to Tool, and then Bronze so fast too. But on Moderate AI or lower, and vs real people online this strategy would be much more effective.
Too bad this wont be appliccable to AoE DE. The multiplayer is so laggy for low pings its just not worth trying to play.
Try to play with people from your own region. I have been having a lot of games without any lag recently. Also, netcode is still being improved.

I should mention that at the start a steady villager production is extremely important and I feel like I did not emphasize this enough. If your berries are good, put 5 villagers on berries. If your berries are bad use 6 villagers. You will be slower with 6 villagers on berries, but it is very, very important that your town center is never idle.
Pretty good. Hints: Assy / Yami peons are faster. You can sometimes get away with 5 on berries. 2 docks usually plenty pre-bronze, unless you're making at least 4-5 scout ships to protect your fisher boats and attack enemy fisher boats.
Always keep a villager exploring the map and a boat looking for fish.
4 Storage pits is a waste, only 2 needed where you were cutting pre bronze; 5 archery ranges to pump out chariot archers after wheel upgrade @ bronze.
Thanks! This video is meant for absolute beginners getting into AoE RoR. As such I wanted to keep it as simple as possible. This strategy is really simple because it is the same every time. Obviously if you have shore fish/elephants you should use that. But I purposely did not use shore fish or elephants/gazelle to keep it as simple as possible . It's a really good strategy to start off with and it is relatively simple. For the same reason I did not put too much effort in exploration other than the absolute basics to find wood, because this also creates more complexity for new players. Making new storage pits is actually pretty important and pays off really quickly. Obviously in a real game you will be making some ships etc. So you probably won't have the wood to repit that much.
Also, you will need at least 4 villagers on shore fish if you don't want to have an idle TC. But this is only if there is no distance between the fish and the storage pit. Otherwise you might need 5 villagers on shore fish.
Assy and Yam peons are faster, but I wanted to show the strategy with a civilisation that does not have economic bonuses.
Also, it is not uncommon to see players make 3 docks pre bronze. If you can make your first dock no later than 5 minutes in the game then with 3 docks you will have a great game! Try it sometimes.
Great advice AOE Tips. Early dock (5 mins as you suggest) is so important, and you corrected me - I was thinking aoe1 with double shore fish points and only 3 vills - which is not the case in ROR. Like you say, it takes at least 4 vills to Shore fish at minimum in ROR. Please keep making these vids. My young sons both watch your vids because I don't always have the time to teach them every detail. Cheers.
How would you then make any military with only 3 to go until you reach population cap?
Finally found my AOE disk after 10 years!! Happy to be back playing this wonderful game and hope there is still multiplayer games.

@@breakdancetutorials4994 I can't see what is going on on the screen in DE. I still play the old version. I like it much better and they didn't get rid of some interesting technologies like they did in DE.
Still playing online on Game Ranger and Voobly.
It takes a little screwing around to get it to play on Windows 10...
I right click the setup file before I install. You may have to do that a couple times and get to the compatibility tab.
I think I run it in Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility.
I also check "run as administrator". Also, I must change the DPI scaling... Checking the second box down on that page... And change to system instead of application in the drop-down box.
Sometimes insulation still freezes up right before the end... At which time I ctrl +alt + delete to a taskmaster window and find the setup exe file trying to install.... When you right click it there is an option that allows you to see what program is holding it up. You can "end task" on that program.
The install will finish then and ask you if you want to create shortcuts on your desktop. Should be good to go.
There is a no CD crack version of the RoR exe file that allows you to play without a CD. *Get the 1.0a version with the no CD crack*
Just exchange the original exe file for that file.
Most Western players play the 1.0a patch. Asian players usually play original 1.0 version.

I like your positioning new storage pts so early to shorten walking distance. Seems a bit silly at first, but for 120 wood, the amount of time spent walking is significantly decreased.
When you factor all the cutters working, bet that 120 wood is made up quick. (Sorry if you addressed this in the video, watching with no sound)

can you do farms instead of fishing boats if you do not have a sea ? or should you hunt instead or find another berry patch?
i set out to try this and accidently selected an highland type map ... so i had to do berries hunting and farming to finish off ... i got to the bronze in 17 minutes, i was a little late to some of the research and i think that must of delayed me.. already playing much better though thank you so much for the tut .. i think hotkeys is something i have really been missing... and of course keeping that TC working constantly.

What if your opponent rushes tool age/ sends warships of their own? As you have no defensive units
That would be bad. He would destroy fishing ships. So... i guess there should be some warships. The war would stop development to another age a bit for both.

Are you playing on hardest difficulty?
I build towers & dig for stone. I play defensively & not this aggressively, maybe put less vills on Vood & some 4-6 on stone to build towers.

The damn hardest AI goes to tool age in 1 min 40 secs with 2 wils collecting food. So unfair.
The Hardest AI gets an extra 2k of every resource. Honestly Hardest isn't worth playing against if you're looking for a fair game unless you're playing Deathmatch, (which is where I think Hardest should be played imo). From what I heard the Hardest AI plays exactly the same as Hard AI aside from the extra resources. If you can beat Hard you're already better than the AI.

I tried to play RoR online long ago (I'm 32 now btw) but eventually prefered Starcraft 1 as it was much more fair & balanced...
Well, prior to uPatch & DE, the meta was simple: you either play assyrian and micro chariot spam better than your opponent/ multitask better or simply don't play 1vs1.
That's why I only played this casually.
Nonetheless, you are amazing and deserves a lot more views :)
I usually make the first one to build the houses and build 15 immediately after the first one starts building houses in fine Forest find food find Stone build barracks build docks direct villagers towards most needed resource get to tool age make towers make walls

The thing is I get destroyed on easy mode with catapults first second I start the game.

I am playing using the Upatch: upatch-hd.weebly.com. It allows you to play on HD resolution. I am not sure if I like it too much since everything becomes so tiny. You can download and install the patch and try it out for yourself.

Yea but u hit population cap that is 50 and u got only civilians not any troops. So how u gonna conquer your enemy?
The purpose of this video was to show how to build up a good economy quickly. Conquest would distract from the purpose
Also you can raise the pop cap in multiplayer games. (You can even play Singleplayer still in multiplayer if you'd like to raise the pop count vs the AI. It'd also help you get use to the Multiplayer latency).

Build two houses at the beginning
Ron - better to explore and/or find food and get vills on food earlier. Experts will use 2 villagers to build the first house. They'll then pull the 2nd villager off the 1st house after it is 50% built to explore. Time and avoiding wood waste (by luring eles/gazelle to existing storage wood pits/town center) is everything in the early this game.

I kinda like to take my time but this is cool. Because the computer AI has a habit of rushing you. But what I did was wall off my base so they can't do much until I am ready! Lmao
Also with that many villagers and fishing boats... 47/50 population. That doesn't leave you a lot for combat units. Do you just kill off a few of the villagers or something? Lol.
