Hi, can I draw a sketch on one plane then another on a different plane then draw a path between the two (say two circles ) then select sweep to make a solid tube between the two ?..for instance if i was making a 3d model of an electronic component and I was making the leg of a resistor ?...cheers.
I use a straight line on the XY plane and a circle on the XZ plane then do a sweep I get this message.. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks Part::Sweep / Sweep: Links go out of the allowed scope. If I just use Part and Sketch I seem to avoid this error message.. Just letting you know and still playing with the Sweep function
Hey awsome tutorial! I have been using freecad for a couple of months now and I barely ever use the draft or Sketcher workbench. It seems like you can do mostly everything those workbenchs can do from the part design workbench. I mainly only use the Part and Part Design workbench. Is there a reason you use those other workbenches?
Great tutorial! I followed your steps but can't create sweep due to error "Links go out of allowed scope", have you encounter the same issue? freeCAD version info: OS: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS Word size of OS: 64-bit Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit Version: 0.17.12871 (Git) Build type: None Branch: master Hash: 070395d67ca45826f1481da80aa9e0f6a9ef4292 Python version: 2.7.12 Qt version: 4.8.7 Coin version: 4.0.0a OCC version: 7.1.0 Locale: English/UnitedStates (en_US)
Great, could anybody tell me what is the easiest way to draw a ceramic plate? I was using Alibre design and I want to start using freeCAD. I see many advantages in creativity and ease of modification of designs, but I need a quick solution ASAP.
FreeCAD might not be the solution for you then. It admittedly has a steep learning curve. With that being said if you need some direct help in making a model you should head over to freecadweb.org and post in the forums for help. There are many great individuals over there and will be more well suited for working through an urgent need.
3:10 "When you click done, nothing seems to happen until you click OK." Tada ! Frustration disappears. Thank you !
very usefull thank you

Another nice job. Thank you!
Thanks dude

Paul Randall thanks! I will give your other videos a look to get a better understanding of the difference.
Once you're comfortable, doing 2D sketches with constraints and extruding them is faster and more accurate.
HUGE !

I Made It Can you test again using Python scripts (commands drawing a circle and then a wire, and then the function Part.sweep)?
