When I first visited Harajuku in 1990, I saw pictures of SEIKIMA-II and X-Japan, who had similar hair styles at the time, and I felt like the were the ultimate expression of a Japanese Heavy Metal aesthetic. Derivative of KISS, yes, but also very Japanese. It’s great to know their sound still holds up today.
I think this is SEIKIMA-ll’s signature song. You will see a SEIKIMA-II poster with a picture of DEMON KAKKA over SAKI’s shoulder in many of NEMOPHILA’s cover-song videos.

His Excellency Damon said on the radio that the members of Seikima II were not really influenced by KISS. The only songs they know are ``Detroit Rock City'' and ``Love Gun,'' and you can tell that Seikima II's early songs are influenced by British bands.

Wow.. Great choice Asaf and Itai.. They are/were awesome, you do realise that you will now have to watch Nemophila doing a cover of their song Cursed sha na na na. (In full make up) This is the band and guitarist that got Saki from Nemophila into playing guitar. Great reaction guys as usual, best wishes to both of you from France.

This is Saki's (Nemophila) favourite band and the reason she started getting into heavier music apparently. She saw a show by them on TV when she was young if I remember correctly and it made her pick up electric guitars. I highly recommend checking them out live (like you did her), the frontman Demon Kakka is an extremely good performer. I am not that well versed into them overall, but seeing a couple of reactions to them live made me get a bunch of their live Blu-rays even though traditional metal is not necessarily my go to music.
Btw, I knew you would probably like it after I saw you were going to check them out. I suspect most people that like Ningen Isu will also like Seikima-II even though their sounds are somewhat different.

Even though His Excellency broke his bones during the LIVE, he completed the LIVE to the end.

      岡山県の蒜山高原センターのミサをUA-camで観ましたがデーモン閣下はかなり痛そうでしたがやミサをやり遂げました。凄いプロ根性だと思いました。

I love this band, i like it more than X Japan. You habe to react to El Dorado, Secret Object 1999... House of Wax, Adam's Apple.

I was gonna make the Paul Stanley comment myself. I agree that you need to check out Nemophila's Seikima II cover.

To answer when this was recorded this is from December 30th 1999 the second day of the three day final concerts before the band disbandment at 11:59:59 JST December 31st 1999 with this day of concert being called Satan All Stars with most of The formers members rejoining the band for one final show (the last song of concert being the only one with all the member who showed up for show playing together)

They HEAVILY inspired Babymetal. Babymetal made numerous references in many of their live shows. I recall one of the intros literally showing an image of the singer, Demon Kakka. Seikima II also inspired their theatrical style, everything from being summoned from coffins, to calling their shows Black Night/Black Mass etc.

This is the band that inspired a young Japanese boy, Key Kobayashi, who, years later, came up with an idea to revive metal music in Japan, giving birth to Babymetal.

Demon Kakka, the vocalist, is also a well-known Sumo wrestling commentator, which he does in character. I'm not sure how much of their lore is based on actual myths and events, and how much is their own construction. But it certainly can be thought-provoking, which does add another layer. Their music video for El Dorado is another one that makes you think a bit.
Also, I am firmly in the Remember Daryl Hannah group.

Kiss on their best day would be 3 levels down, vocals, musicainship and stage presence.

I'm a Japanese person who likes HR/HM. X-Japan was overwhelmingly popular in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but personally Seikima II was by far the best.
I liked X-Japan, but there was a tendency for fans, both male and female, to say they didn't approve of any band other than X-Japan.
Personally, I like "Killing Scene!(殺しの現場!)" as it's the most brutal song in Seikima II. In the CD sound source, you can hear the highest range of the Japanese male vocalist's natural voice "hihiC" in the last phrase.
The CD sound source can be found by searching for ``殺しの現場!'' in Japanese on UA-cam.
Actually, this song is included in Japanese karaoke, and I wonder how many people's throats have been crushed...lol

I was one of those X japan fans until I discovered Seikima-ii. For some reasons, i find out seikima-ii is often left out of conversations when it comes to japanese rock/metal/visual kei. I dont know why either. They’re amazinG
Obvsly X japan is a legend but i find them inconsistent in quality. Their debut album Blue Blood was great but the follow-up and the one after that (dahlia) wasnt too great as a body of work, although they both have amazing songs. They’re also not prolific. But songs like Rose of Pain, X, silent jealousy, kurenai are what kept them at legend status bc the compositions of those songs are unparalleled and I couldnt find bands that could even scratch the musicality of those songs.

Surprisingly, they play very ordinary metal music.
For decades I thought of them as a comic band.
