Everyone commenting on this video must understand how pioneering Girlschool were. In the heady days of the mid eighties we had never seen anything like this. Finally an all women band footing it with the blokes on their own terms. Full respect!
Can't help feeling they never got the full recognition they deserved. Their sheer technical playing ability and musicianship was streets ahead of most of their NWOBHM counterparts.
You are mistaken. Infra Riot just did a cover of the song like Motorhead did. The song was written by Denise Dufort, Kelly Johnson, Kim McAuliffe and Enid Williams - the original members of Girlschool.
Saw Girlschool at Bloodstock Open Air the other day.. they KICKED ass!! I dont care if they're "as good as Motorhead" cos I love both of them.. Well, maybe I love Girlschool just a little bit more cos Im a girl guitarist so they're a huge influence to me :)
Great band. I listened to these girls way back in the 80s, the best decade ever. It soothes my soul to see them still doing great things in the music world where crap seems to rule. That new Blonde guitarist is way sexy and talented dont you think?
Holy Crap! This is an amazing version. The guitarist gives Fast Eddie a run for his money in the solo, and Girlschool's playing/signing has only gotten heavier, tighter, and yet more melodic with time!
Can't think straight, can't decide 'Cause time's running out and there's nowhere to hide Where to run, what to do Better watch out, cause they're coming for you
You know what Girlschool should do? They should come out with an album that COMPLETELY blows everyone else out of the water. New fresh stuff. No song remakes.
TUVE LA SUERTE DE VERLAS EN DIRECTO EN EL PALACIO HACE UNOS CUANTOS AÑOS TOCARON MUY BIEN , HAN PASADO LOS AÑOS Y AHORA TOCAN MEJOR ! ESO SI AHORA SON UN POCO MAS MAYORCITAS!
Kelly Johnson, the original lead guitarist of GS in years 1978-1984 and 1993-1999 IS, unfortunately, dead. RIP Jackie Chambers - CURRENT lead guitarist of GS and the one you can see in this video - is, fortunately, alive :) cheers
Emergency-Girlschool can't make out things he said but there's too many nouns to get out of my head It must be mad, must be lie From the crazy things of my mind (chorus) 9-9-9 Emergency! (emergency) (4x) Get it free, get it inside Time is running and you now it's too hard When to run, what to do? You better run from what comes to you (chorus) 9-9-9 Emergency! (emergency)
No, this vid is not early, dont know when exactly it was taken, but I guess somewhen in 2005/2006. That isn't Kelly but Jackie Chambers on lead guitar :)
Motörhead/Girlschool: St. Valentines Day Massacre E.P. You propably got it on "No Remorse" Was a mix of MH/GS (with Taylor on backup mike (think he had his arm broken)), so not a real MH cover.
You're obviously not a real Motorhead fan redlama. Coz if you were then you'd know Lemmy loves Girlschool & they have been best mates for years, toured together for years and made lots of recordings together. You'd also know that "Emergency" is an original Girlschool song that Motorhead covered! Not only that Girlshool's Denise Dufort played drums on the Motorhead studio version because Phil was unable to do the session due to a serious injury to his neck,
wow this is really good! can someone fill me in though? in the UK is 999 the emergency number? cuz in the us we have 911, and i didnt know if i was missing something....
Motorhead didnt covered this song or "Please don't touch", both r made woth both bands. But anybody know if Girlschool covered "bomber" or Motorhead covered it?
sono...it's a Motörhead song, performed by their fav. girls, being Girlschool. Nevermind steve. He somewhat has a point, only he doesn't realize he has one....
These girls are legends. They paved the way for future female artist. It is a shame they get no airplay.
Everyone commenting on this video must understand how pioneering Girlschool were. In the heady days of the mid eighties we had never seen anything like this. Finally an all women band footing it with the blokes on their own terms. Full respect!
Denise Dufort is such a great drummer. She should go out and jam and tour with other musicians to show how great she is.
Sorry to hear of Kelly Johnson's passing. 6 year battle with cancer of the spine. RIP girl...

@petriofsweden I totally agree!! The Bass sounds AWESOME and is usually the first thing to get lost in a live mix!
Great band. I listened to these girls way back in the 80s, the best decade ever. It soothes my soul to see them still doing great things in the music world where crap seems to rule. That new Blonde guitarist is way sexy and talented dont you think?
Love at first sight!
I saw these girls in the 80s with the Scorpions...they put on an excellent show
Holy Crap! This is an amazing version. The guitarist gives Fast Eddie a run for his money in the solo, and Girlschool's playing/signing has only gotten heavier, tighter, and yet more melodic with time!
I remember going to see these at canterbury in may 1981...
Awesome.. I saw Girlschool at The Standard in London about 23-24 years ago.. lol Now I feel old...
@NickyKFS indeed, she's one of my favourite drummers!! she's great and beautiful too!
Saw them twice in Seattle in 1983. Gil was on bass... If they don't come to US in 2010, then I'm heading to England...I've waited long enopugh.
this ban has been my favourite about 20 years.. the'se girls ROCK!!!
Girlschool are one of the best heavy metal bands in the world no?
Fantastic, go on Jacks on lead. Great playing and sound. Lots of energy, cracking stuff. Take care n'that, Stokesy from Heywood.

Where to run, what to do
Better watch out, cause they're coming for you
Supporting a good cause too - go girls!

HACE UNOS CUANTOS AÑOS LAS PUDE VER EN EL PALACIO TOCARON MUY BIEN HAN PASADO UNOS CUANTOS AÑOS Y SIGUEN TOCANDO NO BIEN SINO MEJOR
Sounds pretty much like straight Punk/Metal to me, which is what Motorhead is.
im going to that show on Friday, in Leeds =D
Kelly actually used to live with Jackie and showed her how to play most of the songs.
At first I was like "Haha, he's probably sure" and then, when I saw the drummer I was like "Oh sh*t :O"
She's a beast at that, they supported Motorhead (surpsingly) at Bradford UK and let me tell you I still wasn't convinced...
I like how this song starts!
Searing Video!
I wish they would come to North Carolina!
Do you know what would be great? Lemmy apear at the stage and to sing the chorus together...
RIP Kel. Sadly you had to go on my b-day!

Kelly Johnson, the original lead guitarist of GS in years 1978-1984 and 1993-1999 IS, unfortunately, dead. RIP

Emergency-Girlschool
can't make out things he said
but there's too many nouns to get out of my head
It must be mad, must be lie
From the crazy things of my mind
(chorus)
9-9-9 Emergency! (emergency) (4x)
Get it free, get it inside
Time is running and you now it's too hard
When to run, what to do?

It is Denise - the years might not have been as kind to her , as with Jackie , Kim & Enid - but it was always about the music .
No, this vid is not early, dont know when exactly it was taken, but I guess somewhen in 2005/2006. That isn't Kelly but Jackie Chambers on lead guitar :)
Best girl band ever. Totally up there with Motörhead!
@Derby14 Well, this was one of my favorite numbers on that album. And still is.
These chicks rock!
@A77uros ROFL, motorhead did the cover on this one... not the otherway around.

@A77uros: Just in case you dont understand Luis comments - The Motörhead version of "Emergency" is the cover, its a Girlschool track.

Was a mix of MH/GS (with Taylor on backup mike (think he had his arm broken)), so not a real MH cover.
i'm 55 and just discovered this band.love this song and this band.never made it to usa?
@A77uros WTF? Motorhead has a cover of Girlschool, not vice versa.
They've improved a hell of a lot since they started in the late 70s with the BNWHM scene. That guitarist could really play.
Rock in, girls.
great voice man !!!!
That is so awesome.
Yes , and something crazy , like a US distribution deal.
If the members of the band do read these posts.....ENID I LOVE YOU!
I filmed part of this video so i know it was from when Girlschool were special guests on the Motorhead tour in November 2005
My first shot of this band.... It won;t be my last!
