Toby Stevens is such a brilliant Marlow. The production has a ‘40’s style to it which works so well. Love this series of radio plays (which are adapted so incredibly well)🗝️❤️🩹
I love Toby’s characterization but I cannot understand why the main actress is so unbelievably bad!!! It doesn’t make sense and ruins some great scenes
Marlowe befriends a down-on-his-luck war veteran with the scars to prove it. Then he finds out that Terry Lennox has a very wealthy nymphomania wife, so what else is new, it is funny to write it on paper the tidbits of why these two got married and not noticing your orbit.
One thing for certain, no simile and no metaphor, something is not always something else. Murder is always exactly what it is - most foul. And Marlowe, possibly Chandler too, was not delusional about women as many men are. Or do they by holding out for one pure thing fool themselves deliberately ? At the same time, an empath like Marlowe is a born loser to a psychopath like his friend. They are the thing that is never what it appears to be.Shapeshifters !
I enjoyed this adaptation of a literary classic. Well portrayed and executed by thoughtful and talented voice actors. And for you to bring this to us this day.
6:06 you don't hear that every day.
He doesn't have any friends, cuz everyone he meets, dies!!
Nice audio but you mad Marlowe sound a little bit sissy.....

This was pretty awesome. I wonder how things mightve gone if Marlowe caught up with Sr Myaronos, and took him out for that Gimlet
Wow, what a story! Love the narration, too. Toby Stevens portrays Marlow so well!
Couldn't agree more! I am glad you enjoyed it, keep listening, share with your friend and family.

Good stuff. Thanks.
Our pleasure!
Toby Stephens is a great James Bond on British radio. Great as Marlow.
Saskia Reeves is good in Slow Horses, but not in this. Maybe it was the American accent that threw her off.

Deviates from brilliant Chandler prose. Lennox actor not like Lennox.
