- On a whim, I tried playing Contact against the end segment of 2001 and it synced up flawlessly. The film and song aren't edited in any way, they both play out in full duration. It's incredible how well they match.
Dude, the amazing thing is he didn't even edit it! He just put both things together, the song and scene, and they played perfectly together! It's awesome isn't it?
Dude! Seriously I am facing the same issue these days, whereas I download them via IDM. It turns out like they got smart and probably putting some restrictions to the viewers to avoid copyrights infringements. I mostly experience this when I am at some VEVO Music Video. We just need to wait until the download accelerates find an alternative xD
Best track on RAM. If this was done purposely these guys are more brilliant than I initially thought. My hat's off to the guy/girl who produced this video and had the idea/foresight to put the music to this because this is kind of like the next-gen's version of "The Wizard of Oz" synced to The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. And if it's just coincidence then what a radically cool coincidence it is. Good stuff!!!
Admit it, you were stoned when you thought of doing this
goddamn it did i just fulfill a prophecy from 2012???
WOW! This is amazing! Good job spotting this out! It's almost like Daft Punk wrote the song according to how the scene plays! Just plain extraordinary.
Still the best clip( & song) ever. 200423 you have given me several moments of bliss; eternally grateful!!!
Yes, it's not a perfect match, but the mood of the song, contrasted against the film, is just superbly engaging. It's the modern-day mashup of Pink Floyd's Us and Them and 2001. Fantastic, and great work.
Philip K Dick would appreciate this particular synchronicity.
Men... after this... how I'd love to see 2001: A Space Odyssey scored by daft punk....
This video is absolutely epic dude. Fine job!
Well done. I know that "on a whim" feeling myself and don't think it's "just" a whim. there's something to it, and it's important. It doesn't come along every day, but you were listening when it did this time. Extremely good result, you should be proud.
i remember when this was posted on plugdj, we were all amazed that it fit so well, and if it was you? i remember you said you were surprised cause you only put the video over the audio. good memories
c'est ouf, c'est exactement ce à quoi je pensais quand j'ai écouté cette chanson la première fois : à l'odyssée de l'espace, je savais que j'allais trouver tôt ou tard une vidéo dans le genre, thumbs up man (y)
This song and film are now forever synonymous with each other in my head. Thank you.
I was running on a treadmill with the new album playing on my headphones this morning as I wondered wether or not if this exact thing would happen. Thanks for making it a reality.
This song and this clip perfectly fit together, I immeiately thought of it when I first heard Contact. Thanks for making this vid !
Dude everytime i hear this song it fucking reminds me of space. And coming across this movie this perfectly syncs well with this movie. Thank you so much for making this video.
Oh my God. It's full of stars...
This music takes me right off the planet and it blasts memories on me every time i hear it... in conjunction with 2001, it does even a better job! thank you dj200423 nice touch!
dj200423 Trust me, there's nothing wrong with your sync. People are just hating on you because you came up with this brilliant idea. All I ask is you do it in 1080p, other than that the song choice is perfect, and this is one of the better videos on youtube!
AWESOME! This is something I never would have thought of, but it works so well. Great video! Favorited.
I pictured this song during the docking scene in interstellar
True
Oh my! I thought I was the only one haha. this song is perfect for Interstellar
This needs an HD version
Amen

This is great! Thanks for making it and sharing it!
Imagine if Daft Punk would licence (part of) this movie for a full, complete and official MV.
Daft fans all around the globe would rejoice !!
Goddamnit, still thinking exactly the same.
That was probably one of the greatest audio/visual experiences of my life. There's no way that wasn't intentional.
Dude when I first listened to this song I was like : "Daft Punk brought us at the limit of what Human can make in terms of music. Perfect" Great video thanks.
I remember going to the movies in 1968 and watching this movie and walking out of the theater wondering what the hell just happened. I didn't understand a freaking thing about this movie, but it was absolutely compelling. I then bought the book and that explained everything - just like a good science fiction book does in the last paragraph of the last chapter. I can't stop watching this video - I can't stop listening to Random Access Memories - All Hail Daft Punk!
I don't know why, but I started shedding a few tears around 3:00
+coscorrodrift I did too.
me too just now. weird
Just epic! Truly a great mind to come up with this.
This song remind me 2001... and here is the video! Awesome job.
This is an AMAZING edit. Job well done. ;)
I had chills up my spine towards the middle/end. Gotta love those good vibes.
Got major chills watching this.
Its amazing how i first imagined this video before a ever saw it when i first herd this song. And now to come to youtube and find that someone connected this video with the song its incredible. Daft punk is not about music in this track, their about imagination left for the listener.
The thing I like about Daft Punk, is that they experiment with a lot of different styles. If you liked this song, I would personally recommend Da Funk (I prefer the live version, but the studio version is great too), Aerodynamic, Crescendolls, Too Long/ Steam Machine (live version), Gorgio By Moroder and Touch. Those are my personal recommendations at least.
When I die and my life flashes before my eyes I want this song to be playing in my head.
Fascinating juxtaposition. I like it, even if it doesn't directly synchronize, since you get the feel for the scene from the music.
"I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see... and then... one day... I got in"
Echoes by Pink Floyd still fits better with the end of 2001 (:
But I must admit that I thought exactly the same thing once I listened to this DaftPunk's track. So thx for having uploaded this idea.
Great video man! Congrats!
Thanks you so much, tears in my eyes; pure beauty!
Actually, you will see that many events do sync up nicely. Especially the part around 3:20 when it goes nuts and the guy is not feeling so well, there is a perfect drumroll after the sweet buildup which fits perfectly ;) Its a nice find and definitely matches enough to use the word flawless figuratively ;)
I'm totally convinced the movie was playing in the studio while they were recording this track.
there is no way, this was not ment to sync up, its to perfect.
The reduced sound quality starting at 3:25 makes it really awesome actually.I like it better than the original one.
Thanks Kubrik and DP !!!!
"As we look back at the Earth"... I love that line.
Wow synced perfectly!
SERIOUSLY BRO???? YOU BEAT ME TO THE PUNCH!!!! This is the very first thing that came to my mind when I first heard CONTACT. I am a Video Editor, apparently a lazy one, and I was all set to finally edit these together last night when I fell asleep. Had it in my plans to do sometime soon, but oh whale. Well done. Cheers mate to great minds thinking alike!
Zeppelins Dark Side of The Moon?! It was Pink Floyd man!!! aaahhhh you're fuckin killing me!! And this video is awesome, genius idea playing 2001 with this song, really matches up perfectly have watched 3 times in a row
Perfect !!! when i first heard it i though exactly at these images !!! Thanks !!!
Pink Floyd's Echoes from the album Meddle. Apparantly, Kubrick wanted Pink Floyd to score the movie, but for some reason they were not able to. Echoes syncs up for nearly the entire part of Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite.
Not a coincidence i suspect.... i went looking as i wondered if it might. I've always got a buzz from watching Pink Floyd echos synced to this (in a dark room) with the sound up high... I have an alternative now! :) - Thanks for sharing!
GarethWonfor Floyd did it
wow it is a good match. But it's been giving me a picture in my head is the space travel scene from the movie "Contact"
This needs to have an mp3 I need this. so much.
What
Natalie Rath I.....wat? ...This is a mashup of a daft punks SONG (I.e. already available in MP3 form) "Contact" set to the ending of the movie 2001: a space odyssey...
Man! This should be the official video!
I showed this to my cousin who had never seen the movie and they thought this was the music video xD
this song also makes for excellent driving music.
Speeding ticket for sure
Carlos Robles or a fatal car crash.
The trick is to take off and break lower earth orbit before that happens.
3:19 i react with the exact same face when i watch this video
You should definitely watch it. It's an incredible film. It's actually my all-time favourite film interestingly enough. It's unlike any other film you will ever see. I would say though to keep an open mind to it, as there are a handful of people who don't like it, calling it boring, slow, confusing, etc. Just let the film sink in as it's an experience more than anything. If you are in the majority who love this film, then trust me, it will be one heck of an experience when you watch it.
David must've had a hell of ride entering a alien demension while hearing daft punk and then enters it to die and then become the next evolution of man FUCKING BRILLIANT
that video + my favorite song: AWESOME!
I like how the first two lyrics have a rhythm to it. I wish the rest of the song had more of that!
The syncing isn't just about the audio part though... Astronaut starts talking as the ship comes into view, talks about spinning object when the monolith is in view, and the end part is eerily matching as well.
I love listening to this while first merging onto the freeway and constantly gaining speed. Then to tell myself that I MUST get passed a certain car before the climax of the song is over, agh, it's the best.
Its almost as if this was deliberate. It's just perfect.
A sense of mystery and adventure. Great song.
The drummer is awesome Omar Hakim wooow sounds great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The monolith gave us Daft Punk.
It all makes sense now. All hail the monolith!
great video by the way! ;D
I have a feeling Daft Punk actually based the song off of this part of the movie, seeing how it goes together smoothly. And the song title matches as well, as this was were, David enter into the dimension of the aliens. Also notice how its the ending of the movie, and the ending of RAM.
He done a great job on giving that scene an excellent soundtrack. His music can have an other worldly or space vibe. you only have to go to the early stuff with the themed anime videos
i just thought to make a video of kubrick+daft punk ... too late :/ ... good job dude!
THIS IS AMAZING.
That comment goes so well with your avatar...
3:08 onwards is intense. Then that cut at 3:34. How perfect was that!
On purpose or not, it fits perfectly and it makes this Kubrick's classic even better
Fucking amazing, how do you randomly find out something this good!?
This video needs more likes!
They match perfectly.
the most powerful on the album, one of the best!!!a lot of energy!!!
“Hey Bob I’m looking at what Jack was talking about and it’s definitely not a particle that’s nearby. It is a bright object and it’s obviously rotating because it’s flashing, it’s way out in the distance, certainly rotating in a very rhythmic fashion because the flashes come around almost on time. As we look back at the earth it’s up at about 11 o’clock, about maybe ten or twelve diame…Earth diameters. I don’t know whether that does you any good, but there’s something out there.”
Would've been perfect if he said 'My god, it's full of stars!' at the end. Still a great video!
Guy-Manuel, he's actually an extremely talented drummer and plays on all of the album tracks containing actual drums
I read that Daft Punk actually blew their speakers when they listened to this song after it was completed. I can understand that, this song have that weird way of making you want to turn up the volume during the whole song :)
Like dj200423 said, it's amazing how they match together ! Maybe it's an easter egg !
This song reminds me of old daft punk + that insane drummer in the yellow suit that was viral a couple years ago.
if you would have said this is the music video.. i would have believed you haha perfect!
Best song on the album! I'd almost go as far as saying, this is their best song ever!
i feel like this song is the "theme" of space. If we ever land on mars or something, this is the song they should be playing in the background
As a believer and Daft's fan, this song blew my mind!!
This is awesome!
Very good song and... very good video !
This is awesome !!
This is masterful.
Touch is an amazing track. Just listen to them again and you'll like it more and more! Trust me I was in the same boat as you.
"Okay. Hey Bob, I'm looking at what Jack was talking about and it's definitely not a particle that's nearby... It is a bright object and it's obviously rotating because it's flashing. It's way out in the distance... apparently rotating in a very rhythmic fashion because the flashes come around almost on time and as we look back at the Earth it's up at about 11:00 about - oh, maybe 10 or 12 Earth diameters I don't know if that does you any good, but there's something out there..."
Apollo 17
this is amazing
This song is so powerful I explode on emotions
