I watch alot of reviews but before buying anything i always type “ title of game- Worth a buy” into UA-cam and if you recommend it, i buy. Very simple process that saved me alot of money. You’re the only one i trust.
If you followed this rule youd have missed out on some of the best games ever made, just a little FYI (Witcher 3, and Darksouls 3 come to mind as two incredible games that mack has thumbs down for utterly hilarious reasons like "i dont like controllers")
@@Jack_Sparrow_85 Lol, this is spot-on. It's hilarious but also kind of sad that Mack's tastes are so limited by things as simple as his refusal to use a controller. I guess that means pretty much any third-person action game will get the old thumbs down. The irony is that he will use a racing wheel for racing games instead of keyboard and mouse but won't use a gamepad for a third-person RPG. As I said, hilarious and sad.
It's actually best to make an informed decision based on *why* Mack likes or dislikes the game and not just *if* since some of his reasons are absolutely loony. He runs more of a comedy channel than an actual review channel. Watch ACG for actual reviews.

But I always find the reviews well made and interesting, at times very hilarious. I think both good and bad games are good fuel for WAB. Only bland and indifferent games seem to be too boring and still Mack manages to make an entertaining review most of the time.

It's a busy time at the moment guys, I thought it was going to be a dead month for games but that was because I was looking at other game review sites (cheeky dig at lazy bastards) but it turns out that if you actually get off your arse and have a look there are loads of games worth reviewing. I know people want loop hero and it is coming but first I have to clear the decks with games that are releasing this week and next week and guys, a couple of them look rather tasty. So expect a load more reviews over the next 10 days as I search for that absolute gem of a game to bring you guys.
I seem to remmeber you were a fan of Battle Brothers and The Darkest Dungeon. There's a game called Urtuk: The Desolation that's a mix between those two that you might like.
Thanks Mack. I was so fed up with games, but now I'm finding games that scratch my itch again. I got into the habit of buying new AAA games based on the hype. I'd play them for a few hours and drop most of them coz I wasn't enjoying them, but I couldn't put my finger on why. Your channel has helped me figure out what I used to enjoy from games. The feeling of satisfaction when I beat battle toads and Super Ghosts and Ghouls on Super Nintendo. The pure enjoyment I had building a bowazon and smite paladin in Diablo 2. Getting lost in the world of oblivion as a ruthless thief or noble knight. Getting crushed in an hour long Starcraft match. The challenge, immersion, and well constructed gameplay that came from GAMERS that were devs and loved what they made, not the hollow, copy paste, money milking shells that pass for games now.
It would be nice if there were some positive world events that happened to the player. Like maybe bountiful harvest giving more crop yield or rainy season giving more water. It just kinda sucks to get hit with a sandstorm right after getting hit with a sandstorm.

Endzone over Surviving the Aftermath. If StA keeps going that way, Paradox will change the devs for sure... Endzone is going to be supported too, with an AddOn later this year, so I guess we will see more improvements
@@errorisdei988 well decided to get Endzone and comparing that to 1 hour trail of the aftermath, endzone seems like it has abit more to it and more options for difficulty, the tutorial for endzone makes it so much more welcoming as the aftermath was without a clear tutorial maybe I missed it but wither way endzone is cheaper and seems more user friendly so definitely good purchase, the graphics are not too bad contrary to the review, but then again I’m not zoomed in all the time so I am more easily pleased than reviewers, but Mack is definitely my top reviewers alongside Angry joe.
It's like an ugly Anno 1800. No matter how much you improve things for the residents, they're still in hell.. When I come home from a stressful day and want to relax with a game, I love polishing a turd to a mirror shine.

Ayy Mack, you really need to check out 'Workers & Resources: Soviet Republic' some time, it's a logistics heavy soviet city builder, it'll restore some semblance of faith in humanity once you get past the learning curve. Also, 'Mr Prepper' just dropped yesterday - this one is right up your alley I think, REALLY interesting new game
Thanks for the honest review! You touched on exactly those items, which I wondered about. You know, the Raiders are the most crucial thing that makes the game feel alive and give you a purpose. I don't mind loosing against overwhelming odds. Except when, like you described, you have built up defenses that don't really matter and the Raiders themselves are artificially op. I am sure they will fix it, but looking at it now, it's $8bucks (CAD) on steam. So I am going to get it ;) I am glad I waited when it was even $20 bucks and figured it wasn't worth it, because they couldn't get the simple things right.
Please revisit wildlands. It's amazing how ubisoft has fallen so far from the AAA powerhouse they used to be. It's got to be one of the greats compaired to all the dribble they release these days and more importantly how far they have fell in such a short time too. Even the environment makes you feel the map is alive. Still can't believe to this day breakpoint was released after wildlands.
This or Surviving the Aftermath? Sooner or later I'll need more videos like game-x vs game-y (similarities and differences). Anyway, looking forward to your review when it is more ready for it.
if you really lloking for survival city cuilding with post apocalyptic vibe, just get the FrostPunk, that's one of the best game of its kind I've ever played
It sounds a lot like Banished and I mean a *lot.* The interface, graphics, and mechanics even look the same with the main difference being the post-apocalyptic premise.

They have taken the best of games like Dawn of the Man, Banished, added a dollop of "nuclear post-apo" angle, some shitty graphics and somehow have managed to turn all of it into the shittiest, slowest rip-off ever.

Yes, quite a lot actually. Surviving the Aftermath (StA) is pretty sterile game, with a surprisingly colorful world and somewhat cartoonish feel - just like Surviving Mars was, being developed by the same studio. Endzone has a darker feel to it and is more realistic I'd say. It lacks the depth I'd want to see in a game like this, but it IS still deeper than Surviving the Aftermath. The highlight of Endzone are quests and exploration. In the Endzone, when you explore, you don't visit the world map - everything is already on the map you start. But once you send an expedition, you actually need to prepare it, equip it, select specialized crew and so on. In StA you just send ONE specialist that is one man army, killing bandits, looting and so on. For example, if you send an expedition to a greenhouse, and you don't send some farmers with specific tools, you won't find new seeds and instead your crew will just return with some raw materials from dismantling the site. Or, if you visit the nuclear power plant, unless you outfit your expedition with the best gear, medicine, specialists and so on - you are going to get essentially a whole bunch of dead and dying settlers. When you get to a site, you get to choose what to explore and in what order. For example, I had stumbled upon a house where a woman with a shotgun was firing at me. I could talk to her or rush in the building. I talked and found out that her husband is sick in the other room. Because I brought medicine with me, I rescued them, brought them back to the camp and got some knowledge (science) points for it. If I had charged them, they'd probably end up dead and I'd have wounded and unhappy crew. Every expedition tells a small story. I really liked the mechanic. Also, there is a list of always changing quest you can undertake, with various rewards. Some are forced on you, some you can choose. And those three things - atmosphere, expedition and quests make the game an order of magnitude better and more immersive than StA. That being said, several mechanics are broken (like raiders that attack you constantly and that you can't really defend against) and after two or three playthroughs, it is just another boring builder. It is fun at the start and at mid game, but there is absolutely no end game content except an endless expansion. But I'd choose this game over Surviving the Aftermath any time. And if developer continue to support this game, add more content and fix the broken mechanics, it could actually be a really fun game with some replay value.
Hi Mack was wondering whether you could recommend me some starter PCs to buy as I have been a console gamer all my life and have very limited PC knowledge and all the ins and outs seem abit daunting to me
Strongly depends on what type of game you like. For modern shooters you will need a top to high midrange gfx adapter, a fast CPU, plenty of RAM, min 16 GB. If you don't care as much about graphics, prefer strategy, Sims, etc, a solid midrange gfx card and CPU will do. Still would recommend min 16 GB RAM. Then you build the rest around it.
Even if I'm not going to buy any of these games I always watch them just to support Mac
