    #diy #dreamcatcher
    // MATERIALS USED //
    Metal Ring - 6”
    Yarn - About a yard
    Scissors
    Paper Cord (Or Jute/Hemp Cord) - About 2 yards
    Ribbon
    // INSTRUCTIONS //
    ✖ Tie a knotted loop around the metal ring with one end of your yarn (this will be the loop that your dreamcatcher hangs from).
    ✖ Take the longer end of the yarn and start wrapping that around the metal ring. Stop once you’ve reached a little more than halfway around and double knot the end. Cut off any excess.
    ✖ With your cord, double knot one end at the top of your dreamcatcher (at your hanging point - where the "yarn side” meets the metal ring).
    ✖ With the yarn side on your right, take the end of your cord and loop it over the metal ring (about 1-1.5” away from your starting point). Pull the end over and through the loop. Continue creating loops (the same 1-1.5” away from one another) until you reach the end of the yarn.
    ✖ Repeat the same loop where your yarn ends and then flip the entire ring over to do the same - this time along the loops you have already created (instead of along the metal ring).
    ✖ Continue this process about five or six times - or until you’re happy with the way it looks. Double knot the end and cut off any excess.
    ✖ With your ribbon, measure out how long you want the ribbons to hang. Whatever you measure out, double that amount. I cut off about eight pieces each.
    ✖ With the ribbon folded in half, wrap both ends around the bottom of your dreamcatcher and pull through until it creates a knot. Repeat with each piece of ribbon until full.
    …and you’re done! Enjoy! xx Audrie

    // ABOUT ME //
    A little bit about me - I'm a content creator on Instagram, UA-cam, and on my blog at AudrieStorme.com living in Orange County, California (originally from the San Francisco Bay Area). I started posting outfit of the day (OOTD) photos on Instagram about two years ago when I was living in Dallas, Texas for work. I loved taking photos and posting on Instagram so much that I decided to expand and try out UA-cam and blogging as well.
    When I was living in the city, my personal style was a bit more streetwear 90's grunge, but now that I live in Southern California and closer to the ocean, my style has become a lot more cozy and comfortable with a lot of bohemian influences.
    If I had to describe my fashion sense on my blog, Instagram aesthetic, and UA-cam editing style now, I'd probably describe it as modern bohemian with an edge since I tend to wear and do things that might be considered unconventional to others. I'm not sure if that is true, but since I've moved back to California, I just find that I gravitate to what is easiest and effortless for me while living near the beach where it always feels like summer.
    Thank you so much for stopping by my UA-cam channel and I hope that you enjoy what you'll find here! I love fashion, beauty (especially hair styling and bohemian braids), DIY projects and how to videos, making travel diaries of all the places that I'm lucky enough to visit, and sharing my (for lack of a better term) "modern bohemian" lifestyle. If you'd like to see more, please feel free to subscribe to my channel. Hope to see you in the comments below!
    With love,
    Audrie

    I did this and it turned out great! I did it black and instead of hanging string from the bottom I hug a bunch a big white fluffy craft feathers! it turned out beautiful, thank you ♥

    cool! the looping was really hard to see. For your next video I would try using a lighter color for the looping, just so we can see it. The room was also a bit dark. Great video otherwise!

    Great video.. but heads up to anyone that is gonna wrap the whole dreamcatcher as I am for an expanded project. You'll need to glue your beginning thread down and again at the other end as there is nothing to hold the thread in place. She starts by wrapping the thread in front of the thread she wrapped around the hoop and that's what will hold it in place.

      I’ve asked many native friends of mine about this exact thing. Every single person I’ve talked to has said that if you absolutely must have a dreamcatcher, that it’s important to research their meaning and purpose in native cultures, and to PLEASE buy it from a native person.

    I'm stuck on the flipping and starting the second row. Is there a trick to it? All I seem to accomplish is an unstable flopping overhand knot

    • @AudrieStorme
      @AudrieStorme  8 років тому +1

      +Therese Jaggy Hmmm... I want to say when flipping, make sure to hold the string inside the ring (might have to pull it through first & then flip) - instead of holding it on the outside & away from the ring. Otherwise the angle won't be right when starting the second row. Hopefully that makes sense!
