- Police have clashed with violent protesters in Whitehall on St George’s Day after far-right groups descended on the capital.
Mounted officers intervened as a group holding an English flag forced its way through police blockades near the event’s allocated area. The Metropolitan Police had said its officers expected those attending to belong to “far-right groups” and “groups linked to football clubs”.
Crowds blocked the road, and chants of “England till I die” could be heard in footage from the scene. Earlier Tommy Robinson, the former leader of the English Defence League whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was cleared of failing to comply with a dispersal order excluding him from a march against antisemitism.

I’m a recently retired Met officer. 6 yrs ago I was policing these events myself.

Let me tell you, those attending were peaceful from what I’d observed but the policing was VERY heavy handed. Again from my observations, the Met are not using the same force against pro Palestine marches. There were no Far Right groups there, whatever that now means. I observed peaceful people listening to the speakers.
What has happened to the Met ? Let me assure you, the Met are now incredibly woke.
They have young officers with little life experience and Mark Rowley, he was my boss, does need to resign. He’s only in the role because only 2 people applied after Cressida was booted out by that horrid little man Khan.

That was instigated by the Police, i was there, they suddenly blocked the road. They gave no explanation, a group of about 20 tried to push through, they were met with batins, and horse charges? Totally over the top response. This was not a protest, a march, a rally etc. Its English people taking part in their country,England's, national day of celebration of being English. We should have the Police waving, and wearing st george badges and flags, and vehicles painted red & white. After all, they have no problem wearing defaced union flag badges, lbgtq badges, laces, and rainbow vehicles everywhere.

The police had horses, baton, riot gear etc. The marches weren't causing a problem (esp. compared to the Hamas marches). Methinks its within the realms of possibility the police did this 'accidentlaty' on purpose so the 'media' could gaslight and humilate / demoralise the people further
just leave out the "accidentally", they 100% did it on purpose. trying to provoke them is what they were trying to do. when was the last time you seen riot gear, over the last 2-6 months of the pro-hate marches chasing police about. climbing statues and war memorials, i've never seen one officer with riot gear towards them.

The police blocked the road and stopped them peacefully walking towards trafalgar square, which is apparently no longer allowed as a rallying point for patriotic Englishmen. It is strange that none of the build up was shown or written about.

I was there and there was no trouble whatsoever - the two tier police boxed in the peaceful people - wouldnt have happened if there were Palestinian Flags waving.

The problem is the thugs that attend the events like above that go out of their way to cause problems, which leads to disorder and subsequent arrests. People will then portray this ad "two tier policing" because it didn't happen at other PEACEFUL events. I think you forget that all of these events are recorded and you can clearly see the trouble and who causes it.

When was it made official, that there was a limit of time on St George’s day, its a whole day. What an excuse for a direction the police have taken. The major of London needs to go. So the video starts at one point…. Which was way into the time the people had been held up there by the police. There were English on both sides the police made a blockade in the middle of them, stopping them from walking down the street. No one was violent and there was no chance of them attacking the other English with their ST GEORGES Day flags on the other side.,…. Why the police chose to deliberately stop everyone peacefully walking and wishing others Happy ST Georges Day, seems to be they were the ones trying to ‘incite something to happen’…. The beginning of this video shows one instance after ages of people trying to walk down, so they pushed…. From videos on the other side, the police were pushing people aggressively before hand..
what has this country come to when a few weeks ago everyone else was seen as suspicious when Palestinians rampaged with their flags and many being aggressive. That was allowed. Now the Media appears to be cherry picking, and trying to spread a false idea…. Sick of main stream media doing this on practically any subject. I always thought London was in England, but it appears people are not being allowed to fly the English or British flag anymore. Any other flag is acceptable . There were no protesters, because this was not a protest, it was a celebration, the police barred the way and blocked off whole street, with no reason.
