Great Video ! For 2023 the OG to get is not the US RL Led Zepellin II !! Get the 1975 OG of RJL 24 CARAT Purple by Deep Purple mastered at Abbey Road, London with Laminated Sleeve and pick it up for pea nuts, easy one to find and "A Master Of Sound" for everyone to enjoy ! Great Video !

About this video, Original pressings are best by far because they have an undisputed charm and are usually better than reissues, even if these ultimate really do have a sense when they are done like Chad does. Being old okay as I have been collecting from ‘65 onward - The Clash, Bowie (friends were fans of his from day one), Beatles, and Pink Floyd. Keep hunting there are great albums in all genres: folk, blues, rock, jazz, classical. Nice presentation, enjoy your enthusiasm.
I was surprised to see you list a Bernard Parmegiani record. I have been picking up some "mint" represses but they all seem to have some surface noise. However, that one you showed, discogs lists as a repress in 1983 it was originally 1979 with a different cover. They certainly are auditory experiences regardless. cheers
Ive recently come into possession of a box set i used to own in 1980 called The Rolling Stones Collection which includes all records in original sleeves from Sticky Fingers to Emotional Rescue. Only brought out in Australia with a black box and big red tongue in the center. These are original tape recording pressings and no remastering. I have several Stones remastered records and the box set i have are the only records I don't switch of Pure Direct. Every remastered record I own from after 1989mI feel I have to switch of direct so i can use my equalizer to try and fix up the mess they made. Im 66. I leave pure direct on for all my original non remastered discs.

Tago Mago and Neu! OG German are so good it’s beyond comprehension. I don’t have a copy of 1st UK DSOTM, but hopefully someday. For those in the US, Unknown Pleasures 1st US press is also stunningly good.

You can't have too many versions, but I really can't wait to hear my U.K. pressing from Dave!
Re Abbey Road I think you mean Matrix / Runout (Runout Side A, Stamped): YEX 749-2 and Matrix / Runout (Runout Side B, Stamped): YEX 750-1 for the UK 1st press there are various sleeve and misprint variations of this as well as some export versions (Source Discogs) in particular the misaligned apple sleeve
Dark side a2/b2 is like listening to a live band, agree! My prediction for your 2023 first place: Led Zeppelin II (RL cut) in very good shape. My copy is just Good (doesn't make it to VG), but it's amazing! I have several of the pressings you mention in the video and I think one that should go in your collection is The Band S/T (also RL cut). The reissues by MoFi and Chris Bellman (double 45rpm) are good, but the original has a unique sound.
Michael, you need to have a copy of The Clash's 45 rpm 12-inch single of London Town and Armagideon Time; it includes a two dub versions of Armagideon Time on the b-side. Great sound.

Hi Michael. I’m sure you are familiar with the group Passport and Klaus Dauldinger, what do you think of them? They have been a favorite of mine since the 80’s, my college days.
Does anyone have an opinion on this? I am seeing more music collector videos on the return of CDs and digital and the prediction that vinyl might fall again out of favor due to the increasing cost in a recession and inflation. The argument they present is you can get a good used CD for $1, $2 or $5 while the used vinyl equivalent will run $15 to $20. New CDs run about $10 vs $30-$40 for the record. Some analysis are thinking CDs will return on a much bigger scale in 5 years or so. They suggest get your cheap CDs now before they go up eventually in price with the increase in demand. Thoughts?

No you just have to be into that kind of music. As a matter of fact these bands were often more appreciated in other countries like Britain or France than at home.
Dear Sir, I look forward to your enthusiasm for analog sound reproduction, but unfortunatly pure analog signal processing it no longer exists, all analog sound signals are processed thru AD/DA conversions in mastering processing, now over 99% of all vinyl records has digital, including most AAA releases...please take a look at the page : ANA(DIA)LOG ...Digital Delay: The little dirty secret of vinyl mastering (including AAA records)... I think it is a little silly, to cuting digital signal into plastic, vinyl records...in the 21st century... with a special respect, Marijan Körbler PS - CD sound is much better and much cheaper...

The Clash - London Calling was mastered by Tim Young at CBS Master Room, he signed timtom on many albums, later he changed to TY1 (stamped)!

For some of the older OG mono vinyl, do you use a mono or stereo cartridge? I have debated getting a mono cart just for those older pressings.
Michael, the Parmegiani album is not original press. That's an 80s reissue.

However those UK Factory pressings were never the best. Proceed with caution!

No, I believe he meant to say -2 / -1. I have that pressing with the misaligned Apple on the back and it’s the best sounding version I’ve ever heard.
