I loved Petula Clark in the 60's. My favorite singer. Now, as I relived the past favorites, I have discovered what an incredible talent, beyond the great hits of the 60's, this woman is. Singer supreme, actress, songwriter, poet. There's nothing she can't do. I even heard her sing country, and I swear I wouldn't have known it was Petula Clark. She sounded as if she were born to the genre. Just incredible. Still going at 91, and one of the most genuine, nicest, and appreciative performers ever. She's a GEM.
Thank you, Petula Clark! You have just given me memories of my Grandma singing many of the songs I have collected, ( & have performed as a singer) . I'd like to bring Music Hall back as a significant genre. I'm just10 years younger than you, still perform, teach and compose.
Dear Diane, come join my brand new Petula "Pet" Clark" ~ "A Dame If The Ever Was" ~ The Pet Clark Fan Club. You'd love it. I have filled it with great things in this, it's very first day.
That's a 1913 American song by James Monaco with lyrics by Joseph McCarthy, first recorded by Jolson. Not sure what it has to do with Music Hall. Enjoyable performance nonetheless.
Petula is one of our greatest entertainers, she has a long and distinguished career ,not forgetting that she was just a girl when she began. How about a reward in the honours list next time.
It really is quite wonderful and boy is she wonderful. My favorite female singer of all time. Her and Dean Martin made a great duet when she was on his show.
10 years on and Petula is STILL going strong. In 2022she is appearing every night in Mary Poppins The Musical and as just released a brand new single called Luminescent.
Eleven years too late...my apologies!!!....but I saw her sing live just last year, as the Bird Lady in 'Mary Poppins'. Naturally the volume was not what it had been in previous years, but the breath control, sound and that unmistakable quality... unmistakable.... Amazing! All the best to you

I remember her in Xanadu - the combination of her and Gene Kelly was irresistible.
