When I watched Bfdi 1b again at some point (maybe I was 11, 12 idk) but I think I was either one, which means I was really the same age as them at the release of Bfdi 1b. Anyway, I thought about golfball using “platonic” and searched it up to just confirm the meaning of it. Sure, I’m not going to have the same volcabulary as others my age, especially ones who WERE my current age like *14* years ago, but I don’t think I ever saw the word platonic before that Bfdi 1b rewatch, meaning that possibly it was a recent word that the huang brothers learned back then? Especially if they used it wrong in the story board? Idk. TL;DR I guess: I think so too because when I rewatched Bfdi 1b, I was ab the same age as the huang’s when they made it so since I didn’t know what platonic meant, maybe they didn’t for long due to them using it wrong in the storyboard.
@@SBerrioww It also kind of seems that the realization was probably had much later into animating 1b as it seems like when the voice recording was taken, there's a clear cut where "non" would be in "in a platonic way". I personally think the huang twins might have shown the video to their parents and their parents might have noticed that they got the meaning wrong, sending them to change it last minute by cutting out a bit of the animation and changing the voiceline. Golfball kind of leans forward when she says "in a" then snaps to leaning backwards when she says "platonic way".

i was rewatching bfdi recently and i think it's funny how after the first episode romance was just never brought up again aside from a few jokes, like, since bfdi was inspired by tdi they probably thought the show should also have couples or at least crushes, and then changed their mind immediately i think gb and tb sitting in a tree in bfdia 14 is the closest there will be to it being canon tho

I find BFDI friendships so wholesome, especially TB and GB and I think a romance arc wouldn't really change that, in my opinion it would only make this better and open up a whole new stage in opportunity for the future of bfdi.

Honestly shipping has never ONLY been about the ship being canon. Who cares if it's not canon? Who cares if one of the characters has a canon relationship with someone else? As long as the shop itself is morally okay, there's nothing wrong with shipping it.
What if the characters have barely interacted, possibly never interacted (taco and bell for example) Or if they despise each other with every cell of their body (eraser and teardrop)
@@ahuman9100 the second one isnt very shippable but just cause they didnt interact much doesnt mean they arent shippable? rarepairs dont hurt anyone, i sometimes ship characters who have never once spoken because i feel that their arcs and writing would fit well together. rarepairs arent problematic and dont promote roxicity, but hateshipping does
People have to accept the fact that there Is no Canon ship. And i am saying that as a shipper. Ships are like and AU, a what If in BFDI there was romance. It's not neceserely something you want to see in the real show.

Ahhh! I'm new to this channel and was dreadfully expecting this to be about how "they're canon", and was really relieved for it to not be. Awesome video! Seems like the majority of us here share this idea.
I love shipping, it's in my blood, and Tengolf IS one of the ships I ship. However as much as I'd like to believe that one scene in BFB, I sitll have always heen a bit skeptical about it because TB's reaction seems actually a bit, negative? The moment he hears this flirt he has this 😟 expression on his face, then switchs to a nervous smile sure but then goes back to one similar to the first. I can't help but feel like it's more of a nervous FEAR than anything, as in like "Oh no she's flirting? Oh geez how do I respond without hurting her oh no!". It just doesn't seem like the expression someone would have if they thought their crush was flirting with them you know, like I'd expect something much more clearly happy/excited
If you want my interpretation, I think that's initial shock, and I think the crush interpretation makes more sense than this one considering everything else I talked of

I've been learning more about this one sided ship, and I think Tennis Ball and GolfBall are in different spectrums of the Anxious-Avoidant Attachments. Tennis Ball seems to have Anxious attachment, which basically means he latches onto someone he likes a lot(golfball), and would do anything for Golfball. He kinda has a fear of abandonment, as shown in TPOT 12 when they finally split teams. Sure Golfball getting eliminated in BFDIA 14 also make him feel scared, but he seemed to be pretty fine afterwards. So probably not that extreme. Golfball on the other hand, has Avoidant attachment. She's the type that is scared of feeling vulnerability, which is why she only views TB as a friend. Whenever she gets the chance, she goes with someone else other than TB. And if you can see throughout the episodes, she only screams, not cries, when feeling negative emotions, unlike TB who can cry, as shown in Bfdia 7. A person in an anxious attachment usually sticks with someone who has an avoidant attachment. Which kinda explains their dynamic. So TB possibly having a one sided crush is likely, but probably not at all what the show would think. This type of dynamic would also work with friendships, so it applies to them perfectly. This can probably explain TB and GB's behaviour with each other.

Tengolf was definately my favorite ship growing up ( Nowadays I don't really care if they're a couple or just best friends though), yet I never thought about it this way! I agree with a lot of the points you made, and you made me realize that these two have had quite a few romantic moments throughout the show! I made comment on your community post, which is shown at 16:32, but honestly, I think my thoughts have changed a bit. It would actually make sense for BFDI to explore a deeper connection with TB and GB. Sure, it probably won't ever happen, and if it does, it could be handled sloppily, but it's still fun to theorize about what could happen! Really good video!

Awesome analysis! I like the idea of bfdi incorporating even a hint of a romance arc, and based on all interactions it feels like tengolf is the perfect candidate for it. They're such an inseparable duo, and whether they stay best friends or take a bigger step in their relationship, their interactions will always be some of my favorites to watch
At the meetup I went to this year, someone asked if romance would ever be in BFDI, Cary responding with "Should we add romance to BFDI?" And then "maybe" or something like that. They might not do it, but if they do I will be happy no matter who hooks up first

BFDI has grown and changed so much from its first episodes that i think it has fully separated from trying to be anything really. i think they no longer follow any guidelines like keeping it strictly silly, joking and comedic. its literally just its own thing now and it can take any path without anyone worrying that it isnt sticking to the original theme/genre of the show. now BFDI is literally just a show that can lead anywhere and go anyway and it doesnt matter. thats just how i see it, at least.

Since GB appears in the show to be the one bossy nerd no one likes, she obviously has a more academically intelligent brain than nearly everyone around her. However, she wouldn't feel the same emotions that everyone else does, including love. TB is probably a tad less academically intelligent that GB is, but does indeed experience most other people experience. Like you said, TB is emotionally intelligent too. To summarise, I don't think this relationship will work out until Golf Ball finally catches a hint and tries to think about how she should react to that information, or even what to say to Tennis Ball anymore. I know a lot about this kind of stuff. EDIT: after some information obtained from a random UA-cam video (I swear) TB could identify as Sapiosexual (attracted to intelligent people only). It's already apparent GB's Asexual (not attracted to anyone in particular).

I totally agree. It would be nice to imply one or two romantic relationships in bfdi. Just little things like blushing would be harmless. I myself am a big coinpin fan and i absolutely love their relationship. Its very nice and healthy. Seeing one scene that goes for a couple seconds that implies a romantic interest between them would be more than enough. Obviously its not necessarily and bfdi will be good either way. Shipping is done just for fun anyways :)

I think the hugest issue with trying to do a romance arc in BFDI is the structure of the show with how a character (or for TPOT 2 characters) get eliminated each episode where introducing a romance will most likely result in one half of a relationship being eliminated and the other half losing quite a lot of momentum behind their character. Think of it like when pepper gets eliminated before salt in II (not romantic but i think the point stands) salt does practically nothing for the next 2 episodes as the whole idea is that salt and pepper were a duo. I know this is basically just bad writing but i feel in a show like BFDI with so many characters it wouldn’t be too far fetched to assume some characters may become joint at the hip and may create issue when either partner is eliminated. It also could raise an issue where in the vote to save format the relationship will be constantly voted to stay in which could make eliminations feel biased (not acting as if most eliminations in recent years aren’t already biased) but thats fuel to the fire. My opinion to the actual contents of the video I think out of any ‘romance’ tennis ball and golf ball seem to be the most ‘hinted’ at as i cant recall any other duos which have as much hinted towards them (maybe firey and leafy or pin and coiny but i see them as friends) where even when i first saw BFB 14 I remember thinking the golf ball tennis ball scene was really interesting as i felt it was the first real time since the first episode they hinted at anything romantic whatsoever. But me personally rather than them becoming canon id prefer if tennis ball could grow more independent of golfball which they definitely are pushing for already and i would rather this continue then them just get together and basically go back to always being side by side. While im sure just because the two may be dating they arent forced to always be together however i think realistically it would most likely go that approach as its how tennis ball and golf ball for so many years have already been written and for fan service. My opinion of a better ship to become canon is firey and leafy (just because at this moment in time what else can you really do with the two characters) but tbh i don’t even want romance in BFDI for the reasons said above. BUT and this is a HUGE BUT whenever IDFB rolls around where there is no elimination structure and rather each episode houses a rejoin that is a perfect season to try romance stuff (although that would mean everything after IDFB just has every character conveniently never mention any possible relationships). I mean say idk david and dora both in the LOL and one rejoins before the other and then it shows one being really upset as they’ve been separated from each other, i think that could be a really interesting arc they could do (however this arc also easily works too as it being just a friendship). I would say the best shot BFDI has at making romance a thing is in this hypothetical 6th season where no timeline issues would occur and MOST characters (not all) should have wrapped up arcs from previous seasons and can create new romance arcs for this season. But overall really good video in my opinion the points you raised definitely are valid and I understand your point of view and talking about a very heated discussion while being more in the neutral side rather than it being a video DEMANDING TENGOLF IS CANON.
Well first of all thanks for recognizing my efforts to be objective in this video! Of course I wouldn't demand anything of the sort, it's not like the show needs romance after all To start responding to your points, first paragraph: TB and GB are very much their own characters unlike that of Salt & Pepper, so there is a bit of a push to have them be independent of each other (that, to my opinion, has worked well) but at the same time the truth is that those 2 characters work best when they're TOGETHER, and in BFDIA we'll be seeing what it means to separate them (In BFDI they weren't close enough for that to be really noticeable), but clearly Tennis Ball can still work by himself and I don't think a relationship would really change that And if you're talking issues with viewer voting, well, alliances cause that very thing you mention as well, freesmart and the newbies, as you can tell, it's not very effective And, as you say: "While im sure just because the two may be dating they arent forced to always be together however i think realistically it would most likely go that approach as its how tennis ball and golf ball for so many years have already been written" then would anything really change, then? @@GDNachoo mainly just voter bias as to why i don’t think TPOT can have it but i guess id rather there be an interesting reason for voter bias rather than ‘TV did something lets vote to save him!’ Also alliances already do have quite a following and Gelatin did make final 2 in the only alliance in the series to be in vote to save format while in the vote to eliminate seasons people mainly voted for match and pencil is because they are ‘mean’ (and i guess ice cube but for her blandness instead). The only way any of the 2 ‘likeable’ alliance members of ruby and book ever stood a chance of being out was being put next to each other and with a relationship i think its not impossible to assume the same but even stronger would apply. And yes golf ball and tennis ball and more fleshed out than i gave them credit for so that is my bad. Me personally hypothetical IDFB style non competition season 6 could be the best shot for romance. I also remember thinking this up a while ago but what if this 6th season was like the amazing race (or for total drama comparison the ridonculous race) where everyone is in duos where yeah i think its pretty how a romance could EASILY fit into that kind of format where once one goes so too does the other. But that really is just wishful thinking realistically there probably will be a 6th season but it will most likely remain the same style of survivor like viewer voting with probably a WAY smaller cast then BFB akin to like BFDIA with maybe 30 characters max. But i respect where you stand with romance and i certainly am not opposed to a good written romance being in the series so long as it is legitimately good and not some half assed fan service ship nonsense.

I'm on team "it could work," but I understand the worry of the "No" crowd. If they choose to have a romance arc, it would have to be fast acting, as any drag along or overly lengthy scenes, would actually feel out of place. They could do it, but they'd have to do it right.

I do think it would be interesting if two of the characters were in a romantic relationship, but it absolutely makes sense why they wouldn't have something like that in the shows. I think it would be interesting if there were more times Tennis Ball liking her in that way was hinted at though I don't think it would fit to actually end up with them being implied to actually feel that way. It could very well ruin relationships between characters but when done well it could be done VERY well without causing problems.

When I watched Bfdi 1b again at some point (maybe I was 11, 12 idk) but I think I was either one, which means I was really the same age as them at the release of Bfdi 1b. Anyway, I thought about golfball using “platonic” and searched it up to just confirm the meaning of it. Sure, I’m not going to have the same volcabulary as others my age, especially ones who WERE my current age like *14* years ago, but I don’t think I ever saw the word platonic before that Bfdi 1b rewatch, meaning that possibly it was a recent word that the huang brothers learned back then? Especially if they used it wrong in the story board? Idk.

I personally think the huang twins might have shown the video to their parents and their parents might have noticed that they got the meaning wrong, sending them to change it last minute by cutting out a bit of the animation and changing the voiceline. Golfball kind of leans forward when she says "in a" then snaps to leaning backwards when she says "platonic way".

However as much as I'd like to believe that one scene in BFB, I sitll have always heen a bit skeptical about it because TB's reaction seems actually a bit, negative? The moment he hears this flirt he has this 😟 expression on his face, then switchs to a nervous smile sure but then goes back to one similar to the first. I can't help but feel like it's more of a nervous FEAR than anything, as in like "Oh no she's flirting? Oh geez how do I respond without hurting her oh no!". It just doesn't seem like the expression someone would have if they thought their crush was flirting with them you know, like I'd expect something much more clearly happy/excited
If you want my interpretation, I think that's initial shock, and I think the crush interpretation makes more sense than this one considering everything else I talked of

I've been learning more about this one sided ship, and I think Tennis Ball and GolfBall are in different spectrums of the Anxious-Avoidant Attachments.
Tennis Ball seems to have Anxious attachment, which basically means he latches onto someone he likes a lot(golfball), and would do anything for Golfball. He kinda has a fear of abandonment, as shown in TPOT 12 when they finally split teams. Sure Golfball getting eliminated in BFDIA 14 also make him feel scared, but he seemed to be pretty fine afterwards. So probably not that extreme.
Golfball on the other hand, has Avoidant attachment. She's the type that is scared of feeling vulnerability, which is why she only views TB as a friend. Whenever she gets the chance, she goes with someone else other than TB. And if you can see throughout the episodes, she only screams, not cries, when feeling negative emotions, unlike TB who can cry, as shown in Bfdia 7.
A person in an anxious attachment usually sticks with someone who has an avoidant attachment. Which kinda explains their dynamic. So TB possibly having a one sided crush is likely, but probably not at all what the show would think.
This type of dynamic would also work with friendships, so it applies to them perfectly.
This can probably explain TB and GB's behaviour with each other.

Awesome analysis! I like the idea of bfdi incorporating even a hint of a romance arc, and based on all interactions it feels like tengolf is the perfect candidate for it. BFDI has grown and changed so much from its first episodes that i think it has fully separated from trying to be anything really. i think they no longer follow any guidelines like keeping it strictly silly, joking and comedic. its literally just its own thing now and it can take any path without anyone worrying that it isnt sticking to the original theme/genre of the show. now BFDI is literally just a show that can lead anywhere and go anyway and it doesnt matter. thats just how i see it, at least.

Since GB appears in the show to be the one bossy nerd no one likes, she obviously has a more academically intelligent brain than nearly everyone around her. However, she wouldn't feel the same emotions that everyone else does, including love. TB is probably a tad less academically intelligent that GB is, but does indeed experience most other people experience. Like you said, TB is emotionally intelligent too. To summarise, I don't think this relationship will work out until Golf Ball finally catches a hint and tries to think about how she should react to that information, or even what to say to Tennis Ball anymore.

I think the hugest issue with trying to do a romance arc in BFDI is the structure of the show with how a character (or for TPOT 2 characters) get eliminated each episode where introducing a romance will most likely result in one half of a relationship being eliminated and the other half losing quite a lot of momentum behind their character. Think of it like when pepper gets eliminated before salt in II (not romantic but i think the point stands) salt does practically nothing for the next 2 episodes as the whole idea is that salt and pepper were a duo. I know this is basically just bad writing but i feel in a show like BFDI with so many characters it wouldn’t be too far fetched to assume some characters may become joint at the hip and may create issue when either partner is eliminated. It also could raise an issue where in the vote to save format the relationship will be constantly voted to stay in which could make eliminations feel biased (not acting as if most eliminations in recent years aren’t already biased) but thats fuel to the fire.
My opinion to the actual contents of the video I think out of any ‘romance’ tennis ball and golf ball seem to be the most ‘hinted’ at as i cant recall any other duos which have as much hinted towards them (maybe firey and leafy or pin and coiny but i see them as friends) where even when i first saw BFB 14 I remember thinking the golf ball tennis ball scene was really interesting as i felt it was the first real time since the first episode they hinted at anything romantic whatsoever. But me personally rather than them becoming canon id prefer if tennis ball could grow more independent of golfball which they definitely are pushing for already and i would rather this continue then them just get together and basically go back to always being side by side. While im sure just because the two may be dating they arent forced to always be together however i think realistically it would most likely go that approach as its how tennis ball and golf ball for so many years have already been written and for fan service. My opinion of a better ship to become canon is firey and leafy (just because at this moment in time what else can you really do with the two characters) but tbh i don’t even want romance in BFDI for the reasons said above.
BUT and this is a HUGE BUT whenever IDFB rolls around where there is no elimination structure and rather each episode houses a rejoin that is a perfect season to try romance stuff (although that would mean everything after IDFB just has every character conveniently never mention any possible relationships). I mean say idk david and dora both in the LOL and one rejoins before the other and then it shows one being really upset as they’ve been separated from each other, i think that could be a really interesting arc they could do (however this arc also easily works too as it being just a friendship). I would say the best shot BFDI has at making romance a thing is in this hypothetical 6th season where no timeline issues would occur and MOST characters (not all) should have wrapped up arcs from previous seasons and can create new romance arcs for this season.
But overall really good video in my opinion the points you raised definitely are valid and I understand your point of view and talking about a very heated discussion while being more in the neutral side rather than it being a video DEMANDING TENGOLF IS CANON.
Well first of all thanks for recognizing my efforts to be objective in this video! Of course I wouldn't demand anything of the sort, it's not like the show needs romance after all
To start responding to your points, first paragraph: TB and GB are very much their own characters unlike that of Salt & Pepper, so there is a bit of a push to have them be independent of each other (that, to my opinion, has worked well) but at the same time the truth is that those 2 characters work best when they're TOGETHER, and in BFDIA we'll be seeing what it means to separate them (In BFDI they weren't close enough for that to be really noticeable), but clearly Tennis Ball can still work by himself and I don't think a relationship would really change that
And if you're talking issues with viewer voting, well, alliances cause that very thing you mention as well, freesmart and the newbies, as you can tell, it's not very effective

As for IDFB, I see a lot of people mention that, but personally because of timeline reasons I'm not sure if it'd work, they'd need their entire arc encapsuled within the season well enough to justify the fact they never talk about it again, i frankly don't see why it can't be done in TPOT already
@@GDNachoo mainly just voter bias as to why i don’t think TPOT can have it but i guess id rather there be an interesting reason for voter bias rather than ‘TV did something lets vote to save him!’ Also alliances already do have quite a following and Gelatin did make final 2 in the only alliance in the series to be in vote to save format while in the vote to eliminate seasons people mainly voted for match and pencil is because they are ‘mean’ (and i guess ice cube but for her blandness instead). The only way any of the 2 ‘likeable’ alliance members of ruby and book ever stood a chance of being out was being put next to each other and with a relationship i think its not impossible to assume the same but even stronger would apply. And yes golf ball and tennis ball and more fleshed out than i gave them credit for so that is my bad. Me personally hypothetical IDFB style non competition season 6 could be the best shot for romance. I also remember thinking this up a while ago but what if this 6th season was like the amazing race (or for total drama comparison the ridonculous race) where everyone is in duos where yeah i think its pretty how a romance could EASILY fit into that kind of format where once one goes so too does the other. But that really is just wishful thinking realistically there probably will be a 6th season but it will most likely remain the same style of survivor like viewer voting with probably a WAY smaller cast then BFB akin to like BFDIA with maybe 30 characters max. But i respect where you stand with romance and i certainly am not opposed to a good written romance being in the series so long as it is legitimately good and not some half assed fan service ship nonsense.

If they choose to have a romance arc, it would have to be fast acting, as any drag along or overly lengthy scenes, would actually feel out of place.

I do think it would be interesting if two of the characters were in a romantic relationship, but it absolutely makes sense why they wouldn't have something like that in the shows. I think it would be interesting if there were more times Tennis Ball liking her in that way was hinted at though I don't think it would fit to actually end up with them being implied to actually feel that way. It could very well ruin relationships between characters but when done well it could be done VERY well without causing problems.
