To all the people who are asking about significance of 12 o clock and want to know why these people like kamran are scared of sikhs at 12 o clock:
At the time of Mughal Empire in India there were some cruel emperors like Auranzeb. They forced people to change there religion and if ignored they would torture them, enslave the women, etc. Mughals use to attack the non-conforming Indians, and sell of their women... nothing could be done, all were helpless. At that time a secret army of sikhs was made who were suppose to release these women from mughals and get them back. This secret force of sikhs used guerrila techniques as this was the only possible way because mughals were very large in count and a front attack would be useless. The force would attack at night after 12. People use to wait for night 12'o clock and when sikh forces would leave for that attack at night 12, hindus say (in a respectful manner) "sardaro ke 12 baj gaye" (implying sardars will be in action now at 12'o clock). The enemies use to fear sikhs saying "12 baj gaye, sardaron ka aane ka time ho gaya hai" (its 12'o clock, now the sardars will attack)
So basically we should all be thankful and respectful for our sikh brothers .

when India was invaded by Nader Shah, the Shah of Persia. Nader Shah’s army reached Delhi in March 1739 and a massacre followed. Countless Hindus and Muslims were killed and the women were held captives. When his armies were crossing through Punjab, the Sikhs devised a plan to attack them and free the women. But since Nader Shah’s army was huge as compared to them, they decided to visit his camps only at night and free as many women as they could as stealthily as possible. They even helped those rescued women return home safely because they knew how important a woman’s dignity was. But over time, started referring to this kind gesture in the form of the 12 o’clock joke without even realizing that had it not been for those Sikhs, their women wouldn’t have survived. They went out of their way to help their brothers and what they got in return was an insensitive joke that stereotyped their community on a ridiculous level.
