Hi Jimmy As what I learned, cork taint is caused by a chemical compound called 2,4,6-trichloroanisole (TCA). TCA is produced when fungi in cork and wood come into contact with chlorinated compounds. But you said phenolic compounds, I am confused.
Understanding from where the chlorine gets into the cork is quite important, I think. It'd be very useful to put the term Organochlorine Insecticide on the slide. As a non-naitive speaker I had to listen that part several times, and also do some googling. Thanks!
Have had some easy to tell and had wines (red, white and fiz) that didn’t show wet cardboard or dog but absolutely were lacking primary notes and were very bland.
Enjoyed the video. I thought you might have also mentioned TBA. Any thoughts on that or is it so infrequent to not be worth mentioning? I don't hear anyone talking about TBA.

It is another cause, albeit in smaller amounts. But good shout, I should have put in a slide on it (but it may confuse!)
I am pretty sure that it is not called a screw cap..
It is called a stelven clouser....
Stelven Clouser...
“Stelvin” is a brand of screw cap. So when I talk about screw caps I am referring to all brands of said closure.
