    I have become fascinated by bobbin lace and I've watched a lot of videos. Yours is so clear and explained so well. I don't know if I'll ever have a chance to actually try this, but I'm subscribing so I know where to find some good information. Thanks!

    I was reading the comments and see that the pattern can be enlarged to 175% to use DMC 8. Would I use the same Torchon pins or do I need to get bigger pins? I'm excited to try this since I've got a lot of DMC 8 lying around. Glad that I decided to randomly read through comments.

    • @Bonitocrafts
      @Bonitocrafts  Рік тому

      If you have any larger pins then yes. But to be honest it’s not too critical. I think I just used my Torchon pins for it in the larger size.

    I am brand new to this, I have been crocheting for 45 years and thought I give this a try, how would I go about getting the pattern, I went to your web page but did not see it, and I am in USA so money is different too. Do you have an Etsy shop by chance?

      Hi. I’m sorry but I don’t. I haven’t found a way to satisfactorily secure files to prevent unauthorised sharing. Unfortunately it only takes one person to share my work online and any control I might have is gone.
      Drop me an email at claire@bonitocrafts.co.uk and I can give you postage options to keep costs to a minimum. Alternatively. All my designs can be purchased from www.Roseground.com.

    Can I use DMC size 8 thread for these patterns?

    • @Bonitocrafts
      @Bonitocrafts  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Donna. Yes you can. However, you will have to enlarge the pattern by 175% as DMC perle 8 is a much thicker thread than Finca 40.

    • @ddg410
      @ddg410 2 роки тому

      @@Bonitocrafts I went ahead and ordered some of the DMC 80 . I am too afraid to try to enlarge the patterns. Thank you so much for your help with this. I should be getting my pattern set for these Torchon Squares soon and now I will have the right thread to make these!

    hello Claire, thanks for yet another great set of videos! I am working this pattern, but have a worker pair for the fan in a contrasting colour. I see that at the beginning you twist the leftmost bobbins twice, and make this the worker pair. I cannot do that if I want to keep both workers in the contrasting colour, so I hang the two pairs on the first pin so as not to "mix" the two bobbin pairs. Should I place the magic thread in the same way as you do, or should I place it differently (i.e. with each magic thread going below one bobbin and over the other, or something else entirely)? Thank you!

    • @Bonitocrafts
      @Bonitocrafts  3 роки тому +1

      If you have a different colour for the fan worker you can do one of two things.
      Either make the edge pair the same colour as the worker or if you lay one pair flat on the pillow and lay the coloured pair across it in the opposite direction. Lift up the pair underneath so that the two pairs are linked. Then hang round the top pin and twist both pairs once.
      In both cases you can place two magic loops into the top pinhole to help finish the piece.
      If you look at the start of the rainbow video I link different coloured pairs in the start of that.
      Hope this makes sense and helps.
      Also. Thank you for your comments, I’m glad the videos are helpful.

      @@Bonitocrafts thanks a million Claire, and also for being so fast in replying! I think I do follow you (and I'll go for the second method, since I've already wound the bobbins). Just not too sure about the two magic loops in the top pinhole, but I am sure I'll figure it out if I jump to the last video! thanks again!

    • @Bonitocrafts
      @Bonitocrafts  3 роки тому +1

      @@lovestoswatch2694 you’re welcome. You will need to sew the two pairs into that top pinhole which is why the magic threads help. You will use them one at a time leaving the second one pinned to the pillow while you work the sewing with one magic thread. Then you can release the other to make the second sewing into the same hole.
      As you say. Watch the final video and you will see. Good luck.

    • @lovestoswatch2694
      @lovestoswatch2694 3 роки тому +1

      @@Bonitocrafts got it, thank you - so I will just pass each magic thread under both bobbins and pin to the back of the pillow, and will check out the other video. Thanks again!

    Ordered my pattern from Roseground, ready to start! Approximately how much thread do you put on each bobbin?

    • @Bonitocrafts
      @Bonitocrafts  3 роки тому +3

      When I did my set of coasters I wound one bobbin fairly full then wound off a yard/metre onto any pair that will be a worker then a bit less for the others. Then for the remaining patterns in the set I just wind off those fully wound bobbins again.
      Hope this helps.

    Is your cloth stitch actually whole stitch here in America?

    • @heleddflower8082
      @heleddflower8082 Рік тому

      It's an interchangeable term. Both are used on both sides on the pond.

    • @Bonitocrafts
      @Bonitocrafts  Рік тому

      @heleddflower8082 beat me to it. It is indeed an interchangeable term as stated. Be aware though that some people use the term whole stitch for what you may call whole stitch and twist and what I would call cloth stitch and twist. This is why I always use the cloth stitch term as it is far less often that it is confused with another stitch.

    • @dianalyn9018

      @@heleddflower8082 I’m sorry I’m not understanding what you’re saying. Here in US we do half stitch, which is CT, then we have cloth or linen stitch which is CTC and finally we have whole stitch which is CTCT so when Clair is saying cloth stitch is it really what we call Whole Stitch? Thank you for replying. I’m going to do this pricking as soon as I get my Indrija off my pillow.

    • @Bonitocrafts
      @Bonitocrafts  Рік тому +1

      Many people in the US and elsewhere use the term whole stitch in place of cloth stitch.
      In all my videos I use the following
      Cloth stitch ctc
      Half stitch ct
      Cloth stitch and twist ctct
      Hope this clarifies.
