I instantly thought of X-Baekhyun when I saw the hair and the face chain in the teaser! The fact that Baekhyun is Lay's counterpart in EXO and that it's a very obvious visual similarity is very interesting to me. Not everything he does has to be connected to EXO of course, as we've seen with some of the other members solo work, but it is always great to see when it does happen! The MV's storyline was very interesting, I like the mystery and sense of discovery of the MV but also the almost sinister dark undertones. I really want a dance practice or a performance video for this because the choreo does look really fun!
This might be my favorite Lay song. I love it. Definite daily playlist material. Agree with you about the MV. It's so fun, I love the choreo, and also beautiful. He looks incredible. But then again it's impossible for him not to, the man is beyond gorgeous. My favorite look is the slicked back hair one. I am very familiar with the Arabic music. There is a little bit of the Arabic traditional music an undertone of it here and there, that little thing that the guy is playing before the girl appears is at the verybeginning, that instrument is very Egyptian tradition. Lay always shows his Chinese roots so I wonder if this is a coincidence! because in Namanana there was Pyramids as well. If it was only that then it is amazing how some tradition are so alike.
That instrument is called an Erhu and is sometimes referred to as a "Chinese violin" in the west. Very neat that it has similarities to Egyptian tradition as well. The erhu is really beautiful, I had a friend who played it in university.
