Dude has 5 kids and can't even afford rent. He never should have reproduced to begin with. I feel so bad for kids that grow up without the basic necessities they need in life.

I guarantee that’s the mentality. I’ve actually heard those words from a woman in her 30s who had 6 young kids (3 in diapers), was pregnant, was due any day with twins, and was crying because she had no food in the house, and no money to buy food asked her if a box of condoms cost more or less than what it costs to feed all of her kids over a week. She didn’t understand what I was asking her. At all.
Pathetic. Their kids are all grown, married and happily childless. They told me they grew up in hell and hunger pains, and they would never put a child through that. They love their parents, but they don’t want to be anything like them.

@@Trapper_Creek_2024 I believe it. I've heard so many people use this absolutely bonkers logic. You can literally go to any planned parenthood and get condoms for FREE. I called and asked one time to see if they'd mail them. They said they would, don't even have to pay postage!

Why is it the first thing some people do when they separate from their spouse is get a live-in “friend?” Furthermore, who wants to date a married man not to mention a married man that’s broke? Instead of dating, get another job so you can support the family you have!

People need to understand that when you move into a place, no matter how bad it is, you have to pay the rent. You can make complaints to the landlord, but if you’re unhappy, move!
If there are issues you report them to the landlord. If they do not fix them you continue to pay the rent while you sue.

But, it is a established right in law for tenants to withhold rent until maintenance is done. Why would tenants pay for something they're not being provided so the landlord has incentive to keep refusing to make the place habitable as in the contract.
I’m tied into a year long lease. Moved in in November’23, in January I met the landlord for the first time. I told her that she had to cure the black mould in the bedroom as I had a serious lung infection. I haven’t heard or seen from her since then. Spoken with lawyers and I can’t break the lease. I pay full rent because I’m legally required to. I keep my obligations under the lease for upkeep and maintenance on the grounds. Come September I’ll be looking elsewhere and notify her and the letting agents know why.
They cut my hours so i couldn't pay. Really go find another job ASAP. Staying indoor doesnt pays the bill.

But the thing that was scary about it is he likely planned on having the pool be a babysitter for kids, and if the pool was there, the liability would be off the charts with 5 kids and questionable parents. The landlord would be in serious trouble if anything happened.

There needs to be an agreement when rent is withheld for repairs. You can't just live there and say, "I fixed the toilet last week. I'm not paying(2k in rent!) this month". No rent paid and this guy is suing for moving expenses?!? Embarrassing, obviously he has never watched JJ😂.
In many jurisdictions, your rent can be held in escrow until the repairs are made to the satisfaction of the court. Tenants need to know how to go about LEGALLY withholding rent when the property is in need of repairs.
People like this wouldn't stick to any agreement anyway.

Even if he didn’t fix a pool that’s no reason to not pay ANYTHING AT ALL. Pay to fix it yourself and subtract it from the rent each month to cover it. Plenty of other options.

If you choose not to pay rent due to the property manager not fixing things, you HAVE to put that money aside in escrow. And you should have docs to show its there.
