It would be the slopiness and the heights that bothered me. Yikes! Couldn't do it. I had butterflies just watching you. Glad this worked out to fall with no problems. It's fun watching more and more of the house be uncovered. It's such a great old place, a real treasure.

Had a sudden panic attack when you got to the top and looked over the roof to the ground on the other side. I hate heights and don't even like seeing someone else up there. Glad you are okay. I did finish watching and see you made a big improvement to that side of the house. Everything seems to be coming along nicely now. Good work. Can't wait till you show more.

He didn't cut out a swing side, notch ???? That's unbelievable. Not an armchair quarterback, but the notch to direct the fall is the 1st cut, then the next notch placed behind & above. With the strap tension .. that was a green stick fracture, damn close to ripping that structure up .. a bit.

I think your doing great and I enjoyed the smile on your face when you were clearing brush with your tractor. I watched some other videos on your channel and am a history buff as well. I had less than zero skills with home repair (when I was your age) until one of my friends (who was an architect) started buying fixer uppers. His dad was a Master WoodWorker and I learned a ton. I am not sure what your working with as a budget, but a dumpster on-site could help with the volume of stuff your gonna have to pitch. Several people have mentioned a leaf blower which is a good investment. Personally, I would prioritize the storage building (after initial house declutter) to have a dry secure area for materials your gonna need for the house. Enjoy the process and take care.

We have so many stumps in our yard from clearing a yard out of the forest. They drive me nuts and are nearly impossible to pull up. We’ve tried to burn one but it really just wouldn’t burn. I dug a small one up myself and then had to find dirt to fill in the hole. We tried to dig another and burn it lower in the ground and that only left a hole with a partly burnt stump inside...it’s a death trap when you’re walking the dog or pig at night. Our house is down in a hole sort of and we have a fence up so to fix it all we would have to take down the the fence and then find a way to get a vehicle down there without running into trees, the house or getting stuck.....yeah those stumps will be there when I’m dead.

Yep. Should have notched the front first. That's called a "barber chair" when the tree splits like that and if it kicks back or sideways it can kill you.

My dad took me on roofs a lot when I was a kid, so it's not the height that gets me. It's that I'm so comfortable on a roof or a ladder that I forget I'm not on flat ground!!

Belle me also. why is that i wonder! i used to climb drain pipes on buildings and always be up on roofs. even climbing ladders make me edgy nowadays. I will even admit some amusement park rides scare me off now. is it that i am wiser of the risks or not as brave or a bit of both?

He sure needed a felling notch on that tree. When it split and "barber chaired" it easily could have hurt him or kicked back into the house. Making a pull off the implement is a sure way to be making expensive repairs. Always pull off the drawbar. Just friendly advice learned the hard way years ago.
