Thanks a lot, i can't wait to finally get this one finished either! I'd like to think that this will be the cleanest / most solid example out there when it's done, but i guess time will tell!
Hi Johnny. Again great content & good to see this project moving forward. The graft you have put in to this project is impressive. All the best & look forward to the next vlog 👍🏻
Thank you! I’m glad you’re enjoying it, it certainly has felt like a battle at every step, but now that it’s on paint it really does feel that the worst is behind me (I hope!)
As a man that has applied a bit of paint to a car or 2, I think you did a great job working in those conditions, we can't all afford or have space for a booth . I think a little flatting and a polish it will be perfect. Knowing a bit about spraying I think the footage you gave us was great, laying down paint, and getting it right takes concentration, so good job on the video coverage and the spraying, a full gravity gun takes a bit of practice but you handle it well. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, it’s encouraging to hear that those in the know appreciate the content and what I can show! I was really pleased with how this one came out & I’m certain that after a flat & polish the finish will be absolutely as good as this truck deserves!
I was kind of experimenting with a no music / more ambient sound concept so didn’t want to over do it! If this works well I can of course create longer and more detailed videos in the same style moving forward!
@@assettrader1587 It has been an absolute slog dragging this thing back from the state it was in. Am I crazy for doing it, almost certainly. Will it be the best Fourtrak in captivity when done…I can only hope!
I wish that I could buy those large buckets of enthusiasm and energy that you manage to acquire.,,where do you buy them from, I spent the week doing a simple wish bone/ball joint and it all ended in tears lol well done , great work
Thank you. My dad was an independent car dealer so I grew up watching him in the workshop and going to auctions with him, so I really was born into the car trade! In terms of my skill set, I learned what I know about bodywork and spraying from my dad. Also everything I know about buying, selling, haggling and putting together a deal - I learned from my dad. In terms of welding & fabrication, I bought myself a welder and threw myself into as many metalwork repair jobs as I could (making thousands of mistakes until eventually I got the hang of things and could do a passable job). In terms of the mechanical work I do, a lot of this has again been learned by simply having a go and learning what not to do! I’ve been around this my whole life so have had a lot opportunity to get to grips with it and have been very fortunate to have been shown so much at an early age by my dad 👍
Cracking paint finish, even before the flat and polish stage. I spy with my little eye a classic Mini shell. Ummm is that another project for you to work on in the future? You’ve put many hours into that motor to get it to this stage, but it’s paid off. Quality. You might regret selling that one…
Yeh the mini shell was the current project that got bumped into the background when the Fourtrak spiraled out of control! The Fourtrak should've been a quick tidy up and get through MOT then put it straight to work, but it was just such a horror story at every stage, it has snowballed into a full on nut & bolt resto! The Mini will get picked up again as soon as the Fourtrak is finished and I will get some content out on it as soon as I can!
It is colour base followed by separate clear coat (I didn't get any footage of spraying the clear unfortunately, but it was 4 coats from dusty to progressively wet and flowing). This should give a really deep & long lasting shine!
@@JohnnyGetsCash ah okay, I would have been surprised if it was single stage since it came out so good without the need for a cut and polish (on camera at least)
@@michaelhynds8035 in total, with the engine bay, the full underside, the wings, bonnet, tailgate, doors, shuts & entire body I think I’ve used around 4L of base (I can’t say exactly as I knowingly over-ordered and have been mixing on the fly), but c. 4L would be my educated guess 👍
I've been waiting to see that painted all year,
You can take pride knowing you have hand built the whole fourtrak, great job
Brilliant job Johnny and up to your usual extremely high standards. Looking forward to the next phase in the restoration.
Brilliant. Great to see it coming together. Great job 👏
It’s getting close now, I just can’t to see this finished, it’s going to look so good and probably the best one in this country. 👍

Quickly becoming one of the best channels on UA-cam 👏🏼
Thank you! What a compliment!
🙌🏼🇸🇪
Dammit Johnny, this could have been a longer video...that was awesome

@@JohnnyGetsCash yes please, was really interesting to watch ....and then it stopped, didn't have time to finish my beer 😂😂
Wow once again, a shed load of hard work, very well done, I can't wait to see the finished article.

Awesome work mate 👍🏼
Thank you! It feels great to finally be at the paint stage and away from all the thankless fabrication & rust repair!
Absolutely brilliant Johnny 👍👌
Thank you, it finally feels like tangible progress at last (not just rust repair after rust repair!)
Cracking job I know how hard painting with out a booth is so fair do’s to you

Hello what epoxy do you use ?
Amazing work. Out of interest how, why and where did you learn all of your repair and restoration skills?

Hey man, is it single stage, you said it was in clear but didn't show footage?
It looks awesome!

It's hard to believe that rainbow star decal was actually fashionable at a point in the past.
Really fantastic Johnny, great work, well done. How many litres of B23 did it take?

Nice Job what spray gun do you use? Keep up the good work.
For bigger jobs like this I use a Devilbiss FLG5 👍
