    1:06 that’s how a full auto nerf blaster pushed the darts through the flywheels

    • @BloodyMobile
      @BloodyMobile 3 роки тому +5

      It's also literally how electric soft-air guns and rifles work.

    • @ChrisD__
      @ChrisD__ 2 роки тому

      @@BloodyMobile Almost, Airsoft guns have pistons that push air behind the BBs instead of pushing the BBs directly - note the "air" in airsoft. To do this with Nerf you need a much larger motor to reach the same kinetic energy as Airsoft (150 FPS with full length Elite Darts) because the springs and the air volume of the piston have to be much higher. So it's more common to see motor being used to launch Nerf darts directly, and they pusher just needs to feed darts into the motors.

    What sort of cad program is used to design stuff like this?

    • @jacobadamczyk3353
      @jacobadamczyk3353 3 роки тому

      A lot of them look simple enough to be done easily with Onshape (a free browser based CAD software that I use)

    • @jakegarrett8109
      @jakegarrett8109 2 роки тому +1

      You probably want to use something like Fusion 360, FreeCAD, or if you have some money Solidworks. Those have gear generators and are good useful CAD tools for designing mechanical things, and easy enough to use but can do almost anything you can imagine. These were all very simple designs, but good ones to practice designing with after a couple more basic ones (like I've done hundreds/thousands of designs, I'd probably say your first half dozen should be easier learning the more basics of the CAD toying with it and playing around, but within a few days you'll be making something like these examples). You could use other programs but you really want an engineering design based CAD for these mechanical objects and learn to either draw gear teeth correctly or modify the in-built gears (I go much fancier herringbone gears so they are smoother and self centering).

    While neat, a lot of these are needlessly high-wear.

    • @ChrisD__
      @ChrisD__ 2 роки тому

      I'm looking to build a Nerf blast or airsoft AEG, how do you reduce the wear?

    • @galvanizeddreamer2051
      @galvanizeddreamer2051 2 роки тому

      @@ChrisD__ Mostly just try to avoid imparting force in directions where you can't move, or directly into an object. Also would personally suggest avoiding sliding items. 0:50 is a good example of the latter, as the rotating nub is going to slowly wear out the sliding channel, especially at the top of it's rotation where it has no leverage. How you would fix that? beyond just using a more wear resistant material like metal, I have no idea.
      Tho, if you are making an AEG, those mostly just use gearboxes, and gears are already innately going in the direction of motion, so that is about the best you are going to get.
      And I do apologize, I watched the video again and realize that a lot of these are not "needlessly high wear."
