Consort Jia’s actress is literally so amazing- she can play the witty, sweet type in other dramas, and can play the coy, cunning, evil type in this drama, and is completely convincing in both.
I like how after Jia kneeled to thank Ruyi for restoring her title, Ruyi had a little sidebar conversation with Noble Consort Chun before telling Jia she could get up lol.
One of my favorite scenes in Ruyi, she knew her worth and stood her ground and wasn't going to let Jia disrespect her, and got revenge for her maid. So proud of Ruyi!

Apparently the first Empress let Jia get away a lot as they were co-conspirators. Jia is totally unaccustomed to actually be respectful to anyone except for the Emperor.
Probably my favourite scene I've watched. After everything Jia has done, the layered & subtle, but clear punishment was the perfect way for Ruyi to establish herself as Empress and give a clear message to the entire harem about the consequences they'll face in future for their actions.
Yes, the first Empress was weak and a pushover. She laid down the laws of no jealousy and scheming but was unable to enforce them, and worst yet, manipulated by the harem. Here, Ruyi do not hesitate to lay the smack down and show them all that she wasn’t stupid.
@BlackVenus Xioxian was quite the hypocrite...giving those birth control bracelets to Ruyi and the other consort....and pretending to her ally all this time.
The harem faction of the previous Empress, Jia and Xiyue and those like Arou who was recruited into their circle, was not based on any foundation of loyalty. Each was secretly and willingly betray the other and hang the other out to dry. In the end, it rightfully self destructed, with Jia being the last one standing here. The other consorts and concubines knew Ruyi would be fair and righteous and gladly sided with her.
Notice how at the beginning of the clip, Consort Jia was the last person standing up for the Empress, the last person to kneel/bow and the last person to rise back up. She was petulant and arrogant from the get go.
@BlackVenus Yeah, except greeting the Empress isn't a holiday but a thing the concubines did every day. This was the first time the concubines greeted Ruyi as empress, but that doesn't change the fact that Jia was doing a daily thing, which was why wearing that color was disrespectful to Ruyi.
Wearing red to the empresses coronation is like wearing a white dress to a wedding when you’re not the bride. Yes the earring scene was painful but she could have done worse.
@BlackVenus , of course we all know Jia did that on purpose. She was so arrogant that she dared to make snide remarks about Ruyi being the second Empress and thought she would not be called out for it.

She offers the presents for Yongrong to consort Chun and almost looking for support from one of her closest friends/allies in the harem. The silent moment of Ruyi smiling and almost thinking she can and belongs in the seat. Then the little pearl thing in her hands. You can kind of see her play with it a little and only stops when consort Jia has received her punishment and in that moment she hides the little thing in her hand and almost sits up like the real empress. I find the scene so meticulously done that it is one of my favorite scenes in the whole drama. anyway this is my opinion so don't bash me please lol

The earrings that were made for Noble Consort Jia purposely had thicker metal posts and would not ordinarily fit someone's ear. At first, she declined to wear it in front of everyone because it obviously won't fit so she made excuses. Therefore, when Rongpei forced it in, it made her ears bleed. It was just a minor punishment for her.
@@nandhithahari She has just ascended to her throne, a harsh punishment probably would not have been in her best interest and would not have taught Jia Guifei and everyone else a lesson as much as this did. She was already punished for plotting the fake fake affair scheme and everyone knew about it, so she could no longer be penalized for it. By giving her these earrings (punishing her by not punishing her) she was able to make an example out of her in front of the entire harem, and put her in her place.

Not to mention she cares about everyone's mental health more than being queen. With Hailan, Chun, Rongpei, Sangbao, Ling Yunche, Shu, Ying, Ke, & other allies that didn't come to mind, Ruyi is UNSTOPPABLE!

This is even better when you know why Ruyi specifically chose carnelian for the earrings and how Jia immediately understood she was going to be punished as soon as she heard it!
Sorry can you please explain to me what was the significance of the carnelian earrings? I forgot why they were important and why everyone got shocked when she got presented them
@@mina763 Sure! While Ruyi was still Imperial Noble Consort, but there were rumors that she was going to be Empress, a Grand Master (important figure in Buddhism) visited the palace, and he happened to be young and attractive. He and Ruyi talked a lot (I think First Prince had just died, Ruyi's adoptive son, hence Ruyi was praying more than usual). Jia and her maid, Zhenshu, decided to frame Ruyi as though she was having an affair with the Grand Master. For this, they falsified a love letter, and "discovered" the Grand Master's "Seven Treasures" bracelet (seven precious gems) and the letter in Ruyi's possession. One of these seven gems was red agate. Someone (I don't remember who, but I think it was Ling Yunche or Physician Jiang Yubin) knew it was all a lie, and swapped the bracelet with one that had a red carnelian bead instead, since they are very similar, once Suoxin had been taken in to be interrogated (she's the one who hands the boxes to Rongpei and has tears of hatred in her eyes looking at Jia; because she would not betray Ruyi, they ruined her legs and she now has a permanent limp). Li Yu also found papers in which Zhenshu had been practicing Ruyi's handwriting. Because it was not the real bracelet, he tested Zhenshu pretending to reward her with "red agate", and she couldn't tell it was carnelian, so it all came out. Zhenshu was sent back home in disgrace (the subtitles say "Uncle Shu" mistakenly) and Jia was demoted several ranks and locked in her palace. Hence why Consort Ling says that in her banner (her region) "even a commoner knows the difference between red agate and carnelian", mocking Zhenshu's fatal mistake, and why Ruyi says Jia thinks that "carnelian is so precious one can use it to reach the sky in a single bound" meaning Jia planned to be Empress by getting rid of Ruyi. Everyone knew about the fake bracelet because Ruyi's name was cleared. Hence, when she gave Consort Chun, who is loyal, red agate beads, and Jia carnelian, everyone knew she was being punished, without Ruyi saying a word about it. Ruyi really is very clever and thought this out well!
@@PungiFungi She's going to keep running her mouth and ruin herself like that. She was much smarter when Xiaoxian was empress. Like when she started bragging about the lucky numbers of her sons!

It was common for the empress to raise the rank of a concubine however to lower a rank must be also discussed with the emperor The imperial noble consort is the 2nd highest ranking in the harm thsts after the empress and can only be given by the emperor and was rarely given, even though the rank may be common when looming at history text it was given to a concubine who the emperor though may die and giving her this rank may show to heaven how important she is to him and not to take her. In most harems though out china history there were only 2 noble consorts, 4 consorts, 6 imperial consorts and an unlimited amount of ladies under them. Also the emperor couldn't elevate a lady from the lowest rank, attendant to consort without unless she did something significant or was discussed with the empress and council as the balance in the harem was just as important
In the real world, when you treat someone with kindness, most of them will take advantage of it by using you, manipulating you with sweet words or words that you want to hear, etc. In this show, despite Ruyi being nice (not wanting to cause trouble), she's been betrayed, framed, poisoned, almost burned to death, spied on by her enemies, accused of adultery with the innocent people they framed, and more. I agree with Hailan who states that you need to be firm, or else people will not take you seriously in the same way Jia behaved towards Ruyi.
Wow! I understand this sooo much better now. First video i saw of this series, and then i started watching more. I now realize the meaning. She mentions the type of stone because Jia tried to fram the empress as having an affair (before she was empress) but used the wrong stone in the beads she used to frame her. Empress maid was toruted and her leg was even broken during investigation (encouraged by Jia) First time watching i didn't know why Jia was a witch or why the Empress mentioned the type of stones in the earings, makes so much more sense now. :)

We guard you while you sleep. Do not...F$*K with us!!" Of course the calls and ambulance don't apply 4 the time period!!
I wondered if there was any special significance to the fact that the earrings were made of carnelian stone. It turns out there was!! The Chinese word for agate (carnelian) is _'ma nao',_ which basically translates as HORSE BRAIN. The Empress was calling her both a moron AND a nag!! 😂😂😂
Yes, phonetically, it sounds like horse brain. Which is why sometimes translations from one language to another often do not convey all the subtleties because often word plays do not translate well. "Tombe dans les pommes" means to pass out in French, which literally means to "fall into apples" so I am sure there will be a lot of apple jokes thrown at people fainting. But how do you translate that into another language?
Of all the villains in the three dramas of this reign that I've seen, This consort Jia is by far the most talented at being despicable!!! She deserved all she got for being cruel and especially for harming Suoxin, who has been the sweetest, most innocent actress i've ever seen! Kudos to the actress!! I was so confused when I first watched this drama because I thought she was Jennie and thought “oh I didn’t know she was an actress too” but then googled her to find out it’s not her haha

Jia Guifei is the mother at this point of two princes, so she most likely would not have been harshly punished for just wearing the red gown. She was already punished for plotting the fake fake affair scheme and everyone knew about it, so she could no longer be penalized for it. By giving her these earrings (punishing her by not punishing her) she was able to make an example out of her in front of the entire harem, and put her in her place.
When Ruyi laid down the law on Jia as empress 👏👏👏
The level of savagery is beyond 👌🏻 I will start incorporating this lethal conversation type in everyday life
Does it hurt?, hahaha RUYI knews it hurt, its a warning for Consort Jia....DONT MESS WITH ME OR YOU'LL GET HURT...and Rong pei is brutal with her action and WORDS!, and i like her😍😍😍
Can u shut up
@@angel.6920 What's your problem
i loved 11:42 so much. though it was about putting on the earrings, it was crystal clear that it was about her behavior and actions. So amazing!
Now look at Ruyi! I admire how she gets angry with reasonable purpose, sweet to other concubines despite the rank, so well reserved, and like a detective with her allies. Not to mention she cares about everyone's mental health more than being queen. With Hailan, Chun, Rongpei, Sangbao, Ling Yunche, Shu, Ying, Ke, & other allies that didn't come to mind, Ruyi is UNSTOPPABLE!
Rong pei is so badass. I love her
If jai just learned when to shut up, her problems wouldn't be half as bad.
Lol. Unfortunately in real life we have those type of people around too.
Jia didn't know when to quit where she was still a bit ahead. So many times she escaped REAL punishment she just kept on making trouble.
I love the way Rui kept jia kneeling while she spoke to the other consort chun
如懿看惢心的時候好溫柔啊,真的像對待自己的妹妹❤️
所以让容嬷嬷去扎害妹妹的人
The class and sass in this episode is the best! Just one of my favorites. The acting on this show is outstanding.
The acting in this show is the best I’ve seen in any Cdrama. Ruyi of course but even the side characters - look at Jia’s expression when Ruyi promotes her and her side eye before bowing.
When you hate the character so much that you find pleasure in their discomfort, you know that the actor is doing their job well
I LOVE THIS SCENE. Jia gets her come uppins in this scene. Get her empress. Let her knows who's the boss in the palace.
The costumes are phenomenal just beyond beautiful
Absolutely! Everything about this series is just so visually stunning 💕💕 The sets, props, costumes, every last detail is gorgeous. Even if the actual story & acting weren't great (it's amazing!),it would 100% be worth watching just to look at.
Ruyi is a queen in all aspects ❤️ I love her
This is even better when you know why Ruyi specifically chose carnelian for the earrings and how Jia immediately understood she was going to be punished as soon as she heard it!
@@RavenSutcliffe ,wow, given how Jia was demoted and the plot was revealed, she still had the audacity to be snarky to Ruyi.
@@PungiFungi She's going to keep running her mouth and ruin herself like that. She was much smarter when Xiaoxian was empress. Like when she started bragging about the lucky numbers of her sons!
I love this drama and I appreciate that it's possible to be able to know what everyone is saying by putting the English words up to follow along. Thank you
I feel so much for Suoxin!!!
Ruyi's got her back.
Why is this so satisfying to watch?
This was such a good story. I felt so sorry for the empress. She would have been so much better off staying away from the crazy politics.
Don't mess with the people Ruyi loves, also Rongpei is awesome
I want to be just like the empress when i grow up
Rongpei was a savage. Loved every second. ;-)
One of my favourite titles. Truly a gem.
Yes she had it coming and got hers in the end. It was soo satifying
Except for the hooks, those earrings are actually really lovely!
That maid with the limo is an amazing actress she spoke one word in the whole scene but her face tells you everything. Also I feel like she deserved more revenge she was so hurt by jia she deserved more then sore ears
It was common for the empress to raise the rank of a concubine however to lower a rank must be also discussed with the emperor
The imperial noble consort is the 2nd highest ranking in the harm thsts after the empress and can only be given by the emperor and was rarely given, even though the rank may be common when looming at history text it was given to a concubine who the emperor though may die and giving her this rank may show to heaven how important she is to him and not to take her.
This is one of my favorite episodes!!! Watched it like 4 times already
Souxin is so cute, wonder why no one mentions this
Suoxin was my favorite, and I wish they had followed her story line. Such a sweet couple, with the Doctor!
I click on these videos ONLY FOR THE TITLES. THEYRE SO GOOD 😭
In the real world, when you treat someone with kindness, most of them will take advantage of it by using you, manipulating you with sweet words or words that you want to hear, etc.
I love Ruyi and Rongpei in this scene. I love this series!❤️💜
这红玉髓耳坠 还蛮好看的哈哈哈哈
These titles are wild lol
Finally someone said it
Didn’t expect it at all
Lol! I love it though. Makes me chuckle
They are accurate
这才是我们熟知的容麽麽嘛!
This is so different from story of yanxi palace
This is always my favorite scene to watch over and over again lol
My favorite scene ever!!!
I have always had great respect for your culture. Thank you for translating. I somehow am lost in the story. If anyone could point me to the beginning then I'd be able to follow this amazing story. Costumes are magnificent. I"m just a little confused. Please if someone would find it in your heart to help me. Hugs from NC.
The title is in the description, and I heard in a comment on a different video that it's on Hulu. But I'm just going to try and find it here.
You can watch it on amazon prime video

嘉妃說甚麼皇后為何不住坤寧宮,目的是抬扛,但卻顯得無知,以她在清室的年日,難道不知坤寧宮已早不是皇后的居所,富察皇后也只是住在長春宮。
10:16 you can see that by RuYi’s expression, he said “Bingo!”. She just discovered what hurts Jia the most: her clan’s leader
Ok I love how all the other girls hate that one mean girl.
容佩太厲害了👍🏼👏🏼!
Wait, was that the real Seven Treasure Beads in Ruyi hands? 😳😶😆🤣❤️👏👍🏼
This title is something else 🤣🤣🤣
7:51
Oof that gave me chills.
锁芯小家碧玉长得很好看啊
I know tat one set of ear rings was more valuable but, both appeared to be beautiful to me.
ugh why can't these be in order? or numbered in the title? I can never seem to watch them in order and it screws with the story line
I'm kinda drunk right now so I don't understand anything but girl I am living
These titles are giving me life 😂😂😂
I mean a good servant scene shoulda been like Fight Club: Souxin takes a knife to Consort Jia's throat and says: "We cook your meals, we haul your trash, we connect your calls, we drive your ambulances. We guard you while you sleep. Do not...F$*K with us!!" Of course the calls and ambulance don't apply 4 the time period!!
Ling loved seeing jia punished. Suoxins death glare was everything
I wish I had a Rongpei!
I'm addicted to this show ❤
I wondered if there was any special significance to the fact that the earrings were made of carnelian stone.
I'm still confused to why Consort Jia was so obsessed with the "Duke of Yu"
Wasn't he the king of Korea?
This looks good!!
Jia concubine look abit resembled Jennie from blackpink.
her character is korean, the actress isn't, but i do think she looks korean though.
I was so confused when I first watched this drama because I thought she was Jennie and thought “oh I didn’t know she was an actress too” but then googled her to find out it’s not her haha
Can’t they stop fighting all the time for once?
However, this shows Ruyi’s love an devotion to Suoxin. She’s willing to lower her standards to uplift her servants. This taught everyone that nobody can harm her servants. Ruyi is really someone special.
These sure are some interesting titles
I cannot believe that lady in red is so rude. I always thought you said thank you and even accept it even if you don't like it.
It's not that she doesn't like them. They're a warning from the empress.
Should’ve hung a couple of fishhooks in them. Two in each ear. Make her 🩸 like a fish. 😂😂😂
Ouch!!!!!
Es la mejor escena del mundo 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I love these drama's the social interplay is riveting: Much better than East Enders or Corry :)
Never watched this show before. Until I read the comments, I thought the chick receiving the earring was the victim.
🤣🤣🤣🤣 don't feel sorry for her! She's EVIL
She got schooled by Ruyi. Love it !!
Any Chinese dramas you recommend if this is my all time favorite?
chinese is a beautiful language
Can any one tell me the name of the music? I love it!
As a chinese I wanna say that the title of the video makes me cringe.
