My Dad was a radio operator on C-54s during the Berlin Airlift in 1949. He used Vibroplex J-36s on board. He taught me CW as a kid. Still active on CW. Recently I found a J-36 on eBay for a good price made in 1942. Works great. I use it on my IC-705. I still use my Vibroplex Standard Iambic paddles Dad got me in high school back in 1987.
I always said I would get a Vibroplex key, until I saw one of your UA-cam partners get that Begali key at Dayton. That’s a work of art.
I have one of those 6 lb cubes, but find to much flex in the plastic finger pieces. Im going to work out a way to fix it myself, as no aftermarket solution seems to exist. It would be the perfect key if not for that. So, until then, its back to my plastic frame Ham Key that was old when I bought 30 years ago. Ive had to rebuild twice now, but its still going. Its mounted on a steel plate with a J37 at its side. Come to think of it, the j37 has a plastic frame too. and its old too....at least 80 years I would guess.....I love that j37. Sorry to take up so much space here, but we dont get much of a chance to talk about keys on YT. Even to mention CW can get a man branded a "Sad Ham", but I will take that chance. Thanks Josh....you do a lot for Ham Radio.

hey Josh, I want to send you a picture of what my neighbor has in his attic I found out he’s a Ham radio operator and we live in an HOA. I want to show you what he’s using and I want your thoughts he’s like 85 years old and smart as a whip. he told me he’s been using hams for 70 years I think that’s what he said.

Professional here, accustom to old school specific and precise communication, but wishing to get into HAM, but have more questions that no one seems to be addressing (at least in my ignorant understanding).
