Every gun in Bo1 was viable. Nothing was balanced. Just required more skill than others. What makes bo1 so special.

The sound was so satisfying compared to other cod snipers, especially when other people used it. Black Ops 1 in general had the best sounds and gold camo.
100% the gun sounds were Top tier on this game they were all so unique . I could literally name every gun just from the sound .

the campaign kinda ruined it for me since they reskinned the l96 for the Mosin and did a pretty poor job hiding it

The hitmakers were crisp, each shot was like a thunder bolt, it felt powerful. Also the maps allowed for all playstyles, camping, sniping long range, rush routes, holding a position, etc. That is what made cod so good, it allowed for all play styles.

Simplicity was key with these older COD titles. Give your playerbase options, but dont over complicate everything.

When the game came out, there was somewhat of an outrage by the community because sniping was "nerfed" in comparison to what it was in MW2 and COD4. It was bizarre
Me and my middle school friends were so mad 💀. We thought they ruined quickscoping. Then we realized it was even more fun and BO1 was our most played game.

@@migueljuarez6788 it’s because they made quickscoping impossible. As in, if you scoped in, your shot wouldn’t go to the where the reticle was for a certain amount of time, even on top of the crazy idle sway
IIRC, the quickscope nerf wasn't there from launch, it was added later on because of people complaining about quickscoping
I hated what they did to sniping in this game. I played before the nerf and it was super fun
My friend got his first "big" airsoft sniper in the shape of a L96A1. Very comfortable and so iconic in the military!

I'll always remember getting a triple (3 in 1 bullet) with the WA-2000 in 2010 on BO1. It was such an obnoxious gun, but I'll never forget that clip!

I love this sniper. BO1 was the only game I was a big “sniper player” because I got really good with the meta of not always quick scoping like in MW2.

Such a throwback, nostalgia just floods in, I swear using snipers in this game wasn't easy but it was satisfying and oh my gaw are the models and sights sooo damn clean, this was also one of the cods where you can't quickscope easily until the scope has been visible for at least a second because it still treats it like hipfiring until it's done, so it makes getting quickscopes pretty friggin satisfying, and honestly probably the best game to teach people how to properly quickscope, but i mean im not even for that all that much, it is just so satisfying to play every part of this game and get creative.

This cod brought me so much joy. My first COD experience and by far the best, the maps were all good and Firing Range, Summit, Nuketown were my favorites. Tried to play on PS3 some weeks ago but just can't find any lobby.. :'(
The last match was amazing to watch. Felt like I was a kid again watching vids and playing religiously good work man.
I was mainly throwing knives in mw2 and never quickscoped with the Intervention,but by Black Ops 1...it was tomahawks...ballistic knife and the art of drag scoping with the L96...because the sound of it was addictive.. and very few people could snipe because they had to either hardscope,drag or nothing..so all the mw2 intervention boys...a year down the line.. were still playing with themselves in rust. This was such a great game,with an addictive multiplayer menu soundtrack. RIP

Fun Fact: The L96A1 was built in a garage by just a handful of guys. In order for the govt to adopt it as a military standard, they rented a warehouse temporarily to fool those inspecting the weapon.

L96A1 was a ton of fun to use. Black Ops 1 was the first time CoD didn't really have a good sniping nest map on release, so it was a lot more beneficial to go from alleyway to alleyway.

I was waiting for this one man when I first got black ops 1 and I met a group of guys on multiplayer we made our own lil trickshot clan and we used to play for days on end
One of my favorite CoD memory was using this sniper. It was a TDM match on Array. I was trying to knife a window open, could knife it cause I was moving to much. So I decided to just fire my rifle and I got a random headshot. One of my greatest CoD moments

I remember them trying to get rid of quick scoping by making the gun not shoot straight or focus right if yu zoomed in fast tryna get the kill.
I think people forget how garbage sniping was at the release of the game. Quickscoping was basically as accurate as noscoping, you had to keep you scope open for like a second for it to be fairly accurate before the patch. Also the reg scope isn’t an iron sight
It was impossible to quickscope at release.

Difference beetween back then and now is , back in the times the snipers where insanely powerful at high range but also in shot range with quickscope , there wasn't shit like hipfire mechanic and they weren't designed on purpose for the sweaty stuff , it was just a game feature everyone used and it was a coinflip playstyle , also the design and sound effects were 10/10 , the l96 with bass was dope af

People forget that they adjusted snipers after the beta. They saw montages of people quickscoping and didn’t like it
My favorite design element to this game was the CoD Points. Before they had monetary value.
Within a few games on a fresh account, you can spend 2000 points for a gun/perk or attachment and get your Custom Class really rolling.

a lot of people hated on b01 because of how much harder it was to snipe in compared to mw2. I remember my brothers and I loved it while all of our friends hated it lol. I feel like a lot of people started liking it a lot more when the new CODs came out but you really couldn't go wrong with that game. Zombies was great and Nuketown is timeless
