    Thanks Tom for the amazing accent overview 😃
    Other than RP accents (Modern and Conservative), the ones that sounded "friendliest" to my unskilled ears were North and South Wales (both) and Black Country accents. Cheers!

    My natural speaking voice is a mix of Modern Received Pronunciation and Multicultural London English. I get told all the time i sound so well spoken yet rough at the same time, that’s what happens when a kid from a council estate in South London goes to a private school 😂

    Thank you so much for this video. It was a great test and I think I passed it well! Some of these accents looks more difficult and another are easier to understand but it's ok.
    I have also a protip and dream at the same time for you. This video is without moving pictures and it would be cool if next to the name of the accent would be showed the map with places where it is frequently uses (I don't know many English cities so it could help with deep learning).
    Have a good weekend! :D

    6 out of 8 have been recognized correctly. Had troubles with understanding Geordie and some Irish accents. That part was probably the most challenging. Thank you for the extended version. I keep the previous part in my playlist. Gonna add this one too.
    P.S. Next time try to use different samples for the quiz. It's not a problem to remember them

    Hello, Tom :) Wow! Most of them are really tough to understand. To understand these accents, One needs to spend many times with those natives. My favorite one is MRP. I also found Mackem, Leeds, Donchester, Cumbrian, Edinburg, and Belfast easier to understand than the others. Nice Job 👌Greetings from Türkiye👋 Çağlar.

    • @bhami
      @bhami 11 місяців тому +1

      I'm American, and I agree with you on the "easier to understand" list.
      To me, the Smoggie and Geordie sound a lot like New Zealander.
      A large percentage of the accents strike me as "British non-Cockney" but I cannot otherwise differentiate them. A large percentage of them pronounce "t" as a glottal stop, which I find annoying.

    • @EatSleepDreamEnglish
      @EatSleepDreamEnglish  11 місяців тому +1

      That's interesting to hear Çağlar. I think perhaps the accents you've picked out have slightly softer accents than others. For example the Derry and Brummie examples are quite strong (thick) and therefore a little harder to understand.

I wish I had an IG live (or a video collab) with You once about accents from a non-native teacher's, who used to live in Yorkshire, perspective. I hope You'll respond back and reach out. Or maybe a zoom (skype, teams) convo about the topic (just as You did it with Korean Billy)?
