Rebelle Pro claims to have the most realistic traditional painting experience in a digital art program possible. Rebelle 5 boasts realistic mediums and tools like oil paint with impasto, watercolor with granulation, palette knife tools, "dirty" brush mixing, and canvas interaction. Their watercolor movement and blending is said to be the most realistic simulation in a digital program. The thing that intrigued me the most is their advertized "pigment color mixing" which is supposed to emulate how physical pigments mix.
So how does this program hold up versus traditional paint? Let's find out.

Thanks for making this! I just got into the program when it was at $10 a seat a few months ago. I've loved the effects it does, I'm trying to create a more painterly/rough look, but been having trouble achieving that, mainly because I feel like the brush effects are too subtle - this helps me enhance those. Anyway, it would be really cool to see you create "10 tricks" video like you did for Clip - that was super handy! Thanks for the review vid!

This is such a cool program though! I imagine that with more feedback they'll keep improving the software. The amount of options seems super cool, but man it definitely seems overwhelming

Yeah, there are some really obscure menus that affect tool settings pretty drastically. It's a lot 😅

Thanks for your video, I enjoyed it. To my mind, nothing replaces traditional art, but I have a copy of Rebelle 5 and I'm working with it to see what I can do. A bit of a learning curve I think. ut at least I don't have to clean my brushes. Don't give up too soon.

I agree with you. Rebelle is a step forward toward closing the gap with the real media but it is still far from it. As a matter of fact it is easier and more pleasurable to work with real watercolour. Still, what the team have achieved is great and I love Rebelle 5 Pro.

I have this program but havent used it yet, keep meaning to since im not a fan of how corel painters watercolour brushes work but love everything else in painter

Watercolor .. you can set the water area. Whole paper or a specific area like in your example. If you want the color to spread out, wet the whole layer then use water color.
Just specifying what area to allow water to flow is a very digital feature but makes realy cool possible effects.

You can "specify what area to allow water to flow" in traditional watercolors too by just using plain water to wet a specific shape on the paper. I did it all the time when I painted with watercolor. My point is that the pigment particles bounce off the "edges" of the wet area in a way that they wouldn't do in real life.

I'm confused by the statement that Rebelle 5 pro doesn't have an option for gouache. Mine does have this option.
