Great Video! You were pretty coy about the Pentax lens: it's no secret that it's a rebadged Tamron, as is the 15-30mm, as I suspect you well know ;). Pity you didn't have the K-1 to use with it. I'm very pleased with mine. I'm looking forward to your take on it as I find your reviews are always fair and entertaining.
Been watching you guys and your reviews for a few years now and can I just say that consistently, your vids get better and better overall - you manage to give great opinions and thoughts often with varying points of view (guest co-reviewers), a great amount of technical info without getting bogged down, real honest impressions and all the while you keep managing to make it fun. Let's just say there are many others out there, some more prolific than others, that can't manage half of that, let alone all of it. Cheers for doing what you do.
I'll second that. I'm an loyal viewer living in Denmark, and I love your videos. They are fun to watch, very professionally composed and shot, and the banter between Jordan and Chris is first class - like the old Top Gear but with more 'hygge'. Keep it up guys. You've made photography a lot more fun and made me interested in visiting Calgary. Looks so beautiful. Oh yeah, and what the heck's wrong with aperture priority mode? I use it all the time! Geez.
See, it's videos like this that makes me thing DigitalRev's glory days have past. Not only does TCS have some incredibly charismatic hosts and great production value in their videos. They invest several days into reviewing and comparing the equipment. I absolutely love seeing the variety in the things getting tested as well. Action photography, portraits, photojournalism, video. It's all great. Please keep doing what you're doing!
It's funny how i love your videos ; not only you explain photography related things well but you also tell a story about the environnement where you're filming, your videos are always a pleasure to watch, thank you :))
Ha! I have that exact setup - Pentax k3ii and 24-70mm lens and love it! So glad you included Pentax in your review. Most people completely ignore this brand. I use it to shoot volleyball games indoors. Not a professional by any means but still able to get some great shots. I find that using the focus tracking slows down the capture rate so don't use that function.
When you do test the K-1, please use some lenses other than the 24-70, 28-105, and 15-30. Most reviews focusing on the camera tend to use those lenses since they're newest, but the most interesting pictures I'm seeing from users are coming from the FA Limited lenses (31 1.8, 43 1.9, and 77 1.8). In a way, I'm glad to see you got the 24-70 out of the way with this shootout, because I think most Pentax users would rather see how the existing top of the line Pentax lenses work on it, and I think those three lenses, even thought they're quite old, show the potential of the K-1 within Pentax's system more than the Tamro...er, Pentax 15-30 and 24-70 (excluding WR, of course).
Does the FS5 have the same skin smoothing on for video that plagues the Sony E mount series? I noticed, or thought I did, in some of the shots on this video. Also, what was Chris holding (flash and softbox) when assisting? (which brand, I mean. I know WHAT he was holding lol)
Great video as always! What Jeremy experienced when using the Pentax is normal. The problem with Pentax is that it doesn't reach the hands of consumers to try and feel, but once someone holds and uses a Pentax, the differences become obvious. Can't wait for your K-1 video. Keep up the good work!
Congratulations Pentax! it seems you are doing things right lately. Your K-1 is not for me as I shoot mostly sports and your 4.4 fps won't be of much help, but anyway I have you on my radar from now on.
The 24-70 2.8 ii Canon is incredible. I cannot discern the difference in primes and that lens. Usually not the case. I wonder how much weight VR will add to the 24-70 2.8 when Canon does come out with one. How much did it add to the Nikon one?
Thanks Gents! Any clue how they compare to the TAMRON 24-70 2.8 with Image Stabilization?? ...a great feature for motion as well as still of course. I own it and I'm happy but love to see a comparision.
For 24-70 zoom lenses, the most important thing for me is the AF system. Is it established after your testing that the sony a7rii plus the new g master lens is comparable to the DSLR's AF counterparts?
You should try a sharpness test at more distant objects. I have the 1st version of the Nikon 24-70 and it is quite soft at closer focusing distances, but move a few feet back and it improves markedly.
With respect to resolution tests, it'll be interesting to see the Pentax 24-70 on the K-1. When mounted on a crop body like the K-3, you're really squeezing a lot of pixels out of a relatively small area. It's hinted at in the video, but it's widely known that the Pentax 24-70 is a Tamron re-brand. No shame there -- the Tammy 24-70 is fantastic, other than the bokeh (as shown in this video). It'd be cool to get some subjective comparisons from Jeremy on the overall color rendition of the photos straight out of camera -- I'm curious if the new Pentax HD coating makes photos "pop" as much as everyone says they do.
People getting too hyped up on this sharpnesssharpness factor, not that many of us out here are in the business of printing 4 Metre high posters. Also fairly pointless looking at on a low pixel density/non colour matched display. Why do you think that our Sony 4K Broadcast colour graded monitors Sony PVM-X300 cost us around £15000 right now?? Why don't we focus on composition, only a small percentage of photographers are going to go out, buy a £1700 Sony lens, when so many alternative FE mount lenses are looming on the horizon. They might not do exactly the "Sony standard" but hey they will be well good enough for the majority of people out here. Crowsnest Pass looks fab. and the coffee guy and blacksmith were two very well chosen subjects, great video, thanks!!
The Pentax 24-70 is definitely the Tamron rebranded! I had the Tamron 24-70 but sold it for a 35mm f/1.4 Sigma, I guess because the Sigma prime is so sharp, I can easily crop to 70mm with more sharpness than the Tamron and Nikon 24-70, for events I think a 24-70 would be more convenient but I'm planning to add an 85mm prime for those. I have a D810 so all those megapixels combined with a sharp lens make it better to just crop than use standard zooms.
Haha, I use aperture priority mode all the time too. Just gives you the control where you most need it, since ISO and shutter speed adjust accordingly.
+Karl Ramstedt Yeah for anything that doesn't move but involves changes in lighting based on where you aim, using manual makes no sense. I find myself shooting in Aperture priority the most (I cap my ISO and shutter speed depending on the lighting) and switch to S priority to catch a nice car driving by or to get some motion in a tracking shot.
Good to see you guys continue to do interesting things with your 'test environments'... this was one of my fave vids to date from y'all. Wishing you peace from Vancouver.
Lovely video thank you so much really liked the methods you used. I would like to see a video with the same methods on Canon 35mm f/1.4Lii VS Sigma 35mm f/1.4A VS Tamron 35mm f/1.8 VC. Thanks again.
I want to ask......which one better overall between fuji xt-10, sony a6300 and nikon d7000? or there others that better than all that but have similiar price range? im still newbie and want to learn photography. Thats why my first gear really important for me.
This is actually super helpful! I have a Pentax K-3 and am in DIRE need of a 2.8 variable zoom. Do you think the 24-70 Pentax is good? I am a Pentaxian for life so I just need a good one
Glad to see this segment back from the Camera Store crew. It's been awhile since you guys have done a shoot-out video. I like the dogging each others equipment moments...lol.
Could you please specify what camera bodies you used? Specifically for the Sony. You mentioned they were all weather sealed but I've heard mixed reviews on the reality of that for the Sony a7 line. Could you tell us a bit about the experience using it in the rain? Any issues?
+Sameer Abdel-Khalek We used a Canon 5D MK III, Sony A7R II, Nikon D750 and Pentax K3. I've used the A7S II in the rain several times and had no issues, but I wouldn't get any bodies soaking wet except the Pentax. Jordan @ TCSTV
I have budget issues and in my country the Sigma is a lot cheaper than the Tamron. So should I consider taking Sigma or wait for months then buy the Tamron. And also how good is the Sigma in terms of video?
great job guys! just a personal opinion, the onion ring on the Pentax and cats eyes on the Nikon aside. typically is it not the case that you would need the wider end to be sharper across the frame wide open rather than the longer end where you may typically do portraiture and not want quite such biting sharpness? that tamron is rated by dxo as sharpest zoom on the Nikon d810. I have to wonder the impact of adapters on sharpness tests with the a7rii....
Wouldn't be a TCSTV Review without some fishing shots of course. It should be your Trademarked exclusive test! Looking forward to seeing how that Pentax *cough* tamron *cough* 24-70 looks on the K-1! I've got the lens sitting here collecting dust until my K-1 arrives at the end of the week! Looking forward to the review on that too!
Ooh, I'm from Australia, but spent two excellent years in Fernie- just a tad further down the road there. Pretty much the bestest place on earth! Now to the review...
Streets of Vancouver So they say, but I still would have loved to actually prove it and see how the difference is. Especially since I own the A-mount and use it on E-mount and want to know if upgrade sometime is worth it.
I own and use the A-mount Zeiss 24-70mm f2.8 and it renders outstanding results on my A7RII and A7S. I'm not going to be spending that insane amount of money for a 'G Master' lens (that will have marginally better results) when this A-mount lens achieves superb IQ at a fraction of the cost. Plus, I can use this lens on the forthcoming A99II (or whatever it will be called) as well as on my A7RII.
Mm, I heard that tamron (oops, i mean pentax ;) lens has massive focus breathing. Is that true? I'm thinking of switching to Pentax with the new K1, and a bit worried that lens breathes as much as people say it does.
+Timur Dzhambinov Tamron lens is great, I used it a lot last year on Nikon D750 body. Sold it only because I'm also buying Pentax K-1 with the same lens rebranded as Pentax D-FA 24-70.
+branislavpetkovic I can definitely see that it's an excellent lens from this review. I'm just a bit concerned with the focus breathing other reviewers mentioned, was wondering if it was addressed in this re-design from Pentax. Apparently up close the lens is more like 24-50. Thanks for the feedback though, I see few other people consider switching to Pentax. Can't wait for the Camerastore review of the actual body, although I'm pretty sold on it already)
+Jorge Martinez They were comparing full frame lenses. 12-35 wouldn't have the same dof, and they wouldn't be able to use it on a sony body for comparison either.
The only problem is expensive permits required in the National Parks. We did shoot our Sony 80-400 shootout in Lake Louise while piggy backing on our workshop permits in the area though. Chris@TCSTV
+chris Ahh. . . I hadn't thought of that. Too bad, it's such a beautiful place for photography.... I don't think a lot of folks realize just how beautiful the Ice Field Parkway really is.
Great content, thanks for making it! Slight criticism though... as an optical engineer I'm of the opinion you need to preface your IQ/sharpness tests by stating that the comparison will show you which adapted/native lens works best on the Sony. I know there's the difference in sensors that would throw off a direct comparison, but it's really about the lens/body combo. The different materials used in the coatings on the sensors of differing companies could even throw off the performance of an adapted lens and cause off-axis aberrations. Also, just the different paint/materials on the barrel of the adapter can cause diffraction issues that could mess with corner sharpness, the list goes on and on... It'd be nice to just see lens/body combinations and show the amount of resolution that is achievable on each ecosystem. You guys are great! Not crucifying ya over this at all, but want to provide some feedback.
+Sean Nicolaysen You are right, that's the thing that irritated me about this nice video. Tony Northrup tested the Canon 16-35 F4L IS with an adapter on the Sony A7Rii and the otherwise sharp corners became very soft.
Love watching your videos and I think I watched all of them or almost. May I ask since Nikon has a not so good review on this video, what would be my choice for 24-70 as I use D7200. Thanks Supporting you all the way from Hong Kong
I spun through this but noticed Jeremy said at the end he was still reaching for his primes, and that as my thought, in this focal range a standard and a modest wide angle are not going to break the bank, you get a stop or so of light and DOF control which can make a real difference, it's a much smaller rig to use point at people and carry, and the reframing can be done by moving you and the subject rather than zooming.
+Guillaume Biart I believe we used a cheapo Nikon to NEX adapter without aperture control because the new Nikons don't mechanically actuate anymore. Normally though we would recommend a Novoflex or Metabones Nikon G to NEX adapter. However now someone has to remake an adapter with electronic linkage to activate the apertures on the future Nikon lenses. Chris @ TCSTV
question, how in the world did you take a full frame pentax 24-70mm f2.8 and place it on a crop body (aps-c frame) and lose available light from f2.8 to a f4.2 plus losing half of your resolution of the lens and have it rated better and sharper in the image department then the full frame bodies with full frame lenses of the best the photographic community has to offer?? What am i missing in this test?.......another question, what equipment did you use to video this show?......
let me see if i understand what you just answered......you say you took a pentak full frame lens and used it on a sony E mounted camera with an adopter?.....where can i get this adopter which allows you to place a full frame lens on a E mounted sony without losing any of the lenses functions? are you saying pentak full frame lenses will fit on a sony A mounted body like the sony a99/2 without any adopter?......are you saying the pentak and sony use the same exact mounts and these lenses, pentek and sony are interchangeable and can be used on both camera bodies?...because if this is what you are saying, i can purchase this pentak 24-70mm f2.8 full frame lens and mount it on my sony a99/2 camera body with out an adopter. and the lens will function as if it is a sony lens...............question, who replaced the pentek software in the pentek lens with sony software so it would respond to the sony E mount camera body????????
+Howard Kahn We used a Novoflex adapter, which makes the lens manual focus and manual aperture (but still fine for testing detail). Unfortunately, you cannot mount the Pentax K lenses on Sony SLTs like the A99 II, only the mirrorless cameras.
you need to test the SONY Vario-Sonnar T* 24-70mm F2.8 ZA SSM II, no one has done any kind of a test on this new lens, and it is the only new 24-70mm f2.8 lens that fits the sony "A" mount full frame camera bodies ......Tamron G2 no fit, Sigma art, no fit, sony GM no fit, sony G lens no fit, other 3rd party lens no fit.............SONY Vario-Sonnar T* 24-70mm F2.8 ZA SSM II, MADE BY CARL ZEISS, is the only new FULL FRAME 24-70mm that fits the sony "A" mount frame........PLEASE, THANK YOU....
Did you guys use the FS5 exclusively to shoot this episode? To my eyes, the interior scenes look sharper and kind of "videoish" compared to the exterior scenes, which look more "organic". Maybe is the way the sensor reacts to different lighting or some camera settings. On a side note: Interesting choice of soundtrack; it has that Miami vibe. Something you would never expect to hear in a video shot on a rainy and cold location so far away from South Florida.
Wonderful review. Very balanced and fun to watch. Very informative. It's nice to see them compared in the exact same situation. It sums up very nicely what otherwise would constitute plowing through and filtering heaps of (nonsense) reviews and opinions on the net. Well done!!!
Thanks for another great vid. I wonder why so many of the shots (both stills and movie) were looking very much over contrasty and over saturated kinda Vivid? I am looking at this on a 27" iMac that is color calibrated. Some later video is much nicer so to me it looks like we have some variation here. I would REALLY , REALLY like to see a similar comparison that included the X-PRO2 and the Fujifilm XF 16-55mm f/2.8. I personally have the D750 and Fuji XT1 and am agonizing over whether or not to get the XPRO2 or just wait for the XT2? Incidentally and not significantly, where I live in North Sydney, Australia, the next suburb North of here is called Crows Nest! LOL. Hardly comparable to the Canadian version, we have about 100 restaurants in 1 sq. km. Look it up on Google Earth. Can you do a comparo of the X-PRO2 to the D750 with equivalent glass from Fuji and Nikon??? Pleeease...
+Practical Builds Huh? I don't get our comment. I view UA-cam stuff daily, and as a big fan of the CameraStore I look at a large number of their excellent videos - all without issues. My comments relate to this video only and in particular the apparent variation within this video. My download connection is about 100Mbps and I am viewing on a 27" iMac i7 32GB ram. Anyway, I do thank you for your suggestion and just to satisfy both of us, I'll download the vide and see if that makes any difference. Have a great day, friend...
andreiwindstorm no shit I wanted them to confirm, people use the term a7r for the a7rii - there is a huuuge difference....why the fk would you use an a7r for a comparison of lenses....fml
+Jeff Lagasca Against? I love the Pentax system. It's kind of a joke in the industry that Pentax is likely using a rebranded Tamron lens but wont confirm or deny that fact. It's light hearted jabbing but if anything TCSTV gives more air time to Pentax products than most out there. It's entirely their fault that they have slipped in the market and we would love nothing more to see them come back into popularity. Chris @ TCSTV
+chris apologies, my comment was some ill worded jest. I definitely get the humor and thank you and TCSTV for including Pentax/Tamron. I know all of us who are interested in Pentax and specifically the K-1 also want to see their dSLR design efforts rewarded with more cameras on the street. Just glad to see that Ricoh's finally pointing Pentax in the direction it should have been moving toward 10+ years (and, one particular corporate owner) ago. Looking forward to TCSTV's take on the K-1.
I really enjoyed the video thanks TCS-TV..I bought the canon 24-70 f/2.8L USM II few months ago....pricey but super high quality glass. since getting it I have constantly been just leaving it on the camera (60D) its really hard to take a bad photo with this lens. consistency is definitely key to this lens and how sharp it is blows me away compared to my 70-200 f/4L IS USM (which is still awesome for an f/4) just wish for the $2k price tag it had IS
I like the idea of testing them on the same body for consistency, but doesn't that metabones adapter have glass in it? That would give the Sony glass a big advantage. Best would be to use them on cameras with similar amount of megapixels. Like D180, 5Dsr, and the A7rii.
+Croo ookie Metabones adapter doesn't have glass (I don't believe), it's just for making up the flange difference. Their speedbooster on the other hand DOES have glass
Nice vid. interesting video I saw by Tony Northrup about full frame lens on crop bodies, after watching I remember how dissatisfied I was with my Canon 24-70 f/2.8L on my 60D. I have a Pentax K-1 coming soon I have a pentax Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 curious to see the results vs the K50 I used it on before which was just good. The Tamron 28-75 on a Canon 5D III was excellent for the price in my opinion. Keep up the good work.
+Austin Paz Profoto B1 with an Air Remote for the Bike shots and a couple Einsteins with the Paul C Buff transmitter at the blacksmith's. Jordan @ TCSTV
Loved the shots fired at Pentax for the Tamron lens haha!
Anxious to seeing the coming K-1 video. Really like the love you guys still give to Pentax.
Looks like a lot of interest in the Pentax. How about a review of the 24-70 with the K-1 now?
If more people tried out a Pentax, we'd have more people using Pentax.
I'm a pentax user but... The pentax 24-70 has ugly bokeh for my opinion
I really like my Pentax (Tamron) 24-70. But the real test will come when the K-1 arrives next week. can't wait.
I have seen the video ..and "excuse" me you all, but the overall rendition of the Pentax was wonderful.....really surprised..
Great Video! You were pretty coy about the Pentax lens: it's no secret that it's a rebadged Tamron, as is the 15-30mm, as I suspect you well know ;). Pity you didn't have the K-1 to use with it. Oh yeah, and what the heck's wrong with aperture priority mode? I use it all the time! Geez.
The 24/70 on the K1 should be incredible. The shots on APSC stood close scrutiny alongside the full frame competitors.
The Tamron 24-70 is excellent! It's my only choice for a 24-70mm lens.
I'm planning to get Tamron 24-70, but worried about the focusing issue.
+Nicolaas Strik vs tamron 28-75?
+Lex Estrada
Yeah. "The focusing issue".
The Pentax 24-70 (shown in this video) is supposedly a rebadged Tamron 24-70 (possibly with Pentax coatings).
I believe it. I saw the Pentax 15-30. It is identical to the Tamron 15-30. They must be making the lenses for Pentax.
One of the best reviewing channels on UA-cam at the moment!

Did any of the adapters put a piece of glass in between the lens and sensor?
Im extremely interested in the Tokina, any reviews?
Did the Nikon have focus shift, or was the body not calibrated to the lens? The wide open shots looked too blurry to be at its best.
Is there any point in buying 24-70 for crop body?
10:31 Hello Jello, is it the rolling shutter of the FS5 or stabilization in post?
Hi, could you make a comparision of 70-200 because I want to know how is the Pentax one compared to others.

why didnt you used the Tamron 24-70 also ? it could have been interesting to compare it to the other lenses.
well done.thx for putting up pentax as well in the ring
How does the Tokina 24-70 perform in comparison to the tamron and nikon?
Please test the 85 GM and Hopefully the newly announced Batis 18 once you got them in you hands
Looking forward for them.
Better & better videos! Great job guys! Regards from the far Belgium.
I don't usually comment, but I have to point out that I loved this documentary styled video, really great stuff...
The video states "shot on the FS5", yet it only appear to be uploaded in 1080p and not 4K?
+TheCameraStoreTV Awesome. Thanks for the reply and feedback. Much appreciated. And kudos on the great video!
I love my Pentax cameras - nice to see someone else who can see at least a little bit of why.
I want a 24-70 f2.8 lens!
BUT also that Pentax camera!
I'm looking for f/2.8 zooms for my Pentax, any opinion on Sigma vs Tamron?
the downhill bike shot with rear flash , showing a back trace tail..mmm im gonna try it my self.
I have budget issues and in my country the Sigma is a lot cheaper than the Tamron. So should I consider taking Sigma or wait for months then buy the Tamron. And also how good is the Sigma in terms of video?
even in my country , the tamrons cost about 200 usd more , but as quality is higher in the tamron , i would go for that
What was the ballhead tool used for the resolution test? Thanjs in advance.
is this good for filming for outdoor sports? 24-70mm f4
There is no weather sealed A7 Body - what Sony did you use?!
great job guys! just a personal opinion, the onion ring on the Pentax and cats eyes on the Nikon aside. typically is it not the case that you would need the wider end to be sharper across the frame wide open rather than the longer end where you may typically do portraiture and not want quite such biting sharpness? that tamron is rated by dxo as sharpest zoom on the Nikon d810. I have to wonder the impact of adapters on sharpness tests with the a7rii....
Whats wrong with aperture priority and, what did he use?
thanks TCS now i want to take a road trip and visit this place. Great video.
I miss the Sony 24-70 F2.8 Zeiss A-mount in this test, why did you guys skip that? ;)
+Lofote G Master would be superior to it...
+Lofote Best lens!!!
Plus, I can use this lens on the forthcoming A99II (or whatever it will be called) as well as on my A7RII.
been subscribed for a while. my new favorite channel
Guys video quality is great! Really sharp at 1080p. Also a good comparison between these 24-70's.
That looked like a lot of work.
Excellent video as always :)
+Ben Gregoire Design Cheers Ben and it was a lot of work :)
Great review, would love to see one on 70-200 f2.8 from Tamron,Nikon,Canon as well Chris.
Thanks.
Can't wait for the Camerastore review of the actual body, although I'm pretty sold on it already)
why not test the panasonic 12-35mm f2.8? It's equivalent to a 24-70
+Jorge Martinez They were comparing full frame lenses. 12-35 wouldn't have the same dof, and they wouldn't be able to use it on a sony body for comparison either.
+Timur Dzhambinov ok understood. thanks
+Jorge Martinez I'd love to see it though, as a m43 shooter myself.
+Timur Dzhambinov I own the 12-35. Sharp but little dof unfortunately
+Jorge Martinez Well it's just the nature of mft system really. Was one of the main reasons I only use fast primes with my EM1.
Would love to see you guys do a review up at Moraine Lake or Lake Louise. They're not that far away.
Nice music choice Jordan! (and a great video, of course!)
Thanks
Supporting you all the way from Hong Kong
I spun through this but noticed Jeremy said at the end he was still reaching for his primes, and that as my thought, in this focal range a standard and a modest wide angle are not going to break the bank, you get a stop or so of light and DOF control which can make a real difference, it's a much smaller rig to use point at people and carry, and the reframing can be done by moving you and the subject rather than zooming.
Thank you for this helpful video.
Can you give the ref of the adapter used for the Nikon lens ?
+Guillaume Biart I believe we used a cheapo Nikon to NEX adapter without aperture control because the new Nikons don't mechanically actuate anymore. Normally though we would recommend a Novoflex or Metabones Nikon G to NEX adapter. However now someone has to remake an adapter with electronic linkage to activate the apertures on the future Nikon lenses.
Chris @ TCSTV
Thank you for your quick answer
it's almost time to do an updated shootout. Tamron and sigma's new 24-70 is coming out soon and nikon already updated theirs.
Awesome vid as usual guys. Love your work.
what umbrella is that in the 7:53
question, how in the world did you take a full frame pentax 24-70mm f2.8 and place it on a crop body (aps-c frame) and lose available light from f2.8 to a f4.2 plus losing half of your resolution of the lens and have it rated better and sharper in the image department then the full frame bodies with full frame lenses of the best the photographic community has to offer?? What am i missing in this test?.......another question, what equipment did you use to video this show?......
+Howard Kahn The K1 was not available when we shot this, so to perform the image quality tests we put the lens with an adapter on the Sony A7R II.
let me see if i understand what you just answered......you say you took a pentak full frame lens and used it on a sony E mounted camera with an adopter?.....where can i get this adopter which allows you to place a full frame lens on a E mounted sony without losing any of the lenses functions? are you saying pentak full frame lenses will fit on a sony A mounted body like the sony a99/2 without any adopter?......are you saying the pentak and sony use the same exact mounts and these lenses, pentek and sony are interchangeable and can be used on both camera bodies?...because if this is what you are saying, i can purchase this pentak 24-70mm f2.8 full frame lens and mount it on my sony a99/2 camera body with out an adopter. and the lens will function as if it is a sony lens...............question, who replaced the pentek software in the pentek lens with sony software so it would respond to the sony E mount camera body????????
"What's wrong with aperture-priority mode?"
- "There's a.... *Everything!*"
Love it. :)
What Company is Nikor?
9:48 Nikkor?
Which camera should i buy in the range of 25k rupees?
I'm a new user who is moving on to DSLR from point n shoot
"what's wrong with aperture priority mode..?"
"EVERYTHING"
what lens cam combo was used at 1:14?
G Master is stunning. Well done Sony Japan!
what sony body and firmware did you use exactly ? - great vid btw
+oiboiii He says in the video, it's a Sony A7r.
andreiwindstorm no shit I wanted them to confirm, people use the term a7r for the a7rii - there is a huuuge difference....why the fk would you use an a7r for a comparison of lenses....fml
you guys should include the MFTs in. Olympus 12-40mm PRO & Panasonic 12-35mm
+nazhif1 I don't think I'll ever do a 4 lens shootout again, it was so difficult. A 6 lens shootout may have been the end of TCSTV.
Jordan @ TCSTV
+dennytenny They're not gonna do it.
Jeremy did a pretty good job resisting Chris' bias against the Pentax lens throughout the video.
I really enjoyed the video thanks TCS-TV..I bought the canon 24-70 f/2.8L USM II few months ago....pricey but super high quality glass. since getting it I have constantly been just leaving it on the camera (60D) its really hard to take a bad photo with this lens. consistency is definitely key to this lens and how sharp it is blows me away compared to my 70-200 f/4L IS USM (which is still awesome for an f/4)
just wish for the $2k price tag it had IS
I like the idea of testing them on the same body for consistency, but doesn't that metabones adapter have glass in it? That would give the Sony glass a big advantage. Best would be to use them on cameras with similar amount of megapixels. Like D180, 5Dsr, and the A7rii.
+Croo ookie We didn't use any of the 'Speedbooster' type adapters. Just a mount adapter with no optics.
Jordan @ TCSTV
+Croo ookie Metabones adapter doesn't have glass (I don't believe), it's just for making up the flange difference. Their speedbooster on the other hand DOES have glass
Noted, thanks guys!
Another Great Video! Thanks! Much Appreciated!
Nice vid. interesting video I saw by Tony Northrup about full frame lens on crop bodies, after watching I remember how dissatisfied I was with my Canon 24-70 f/2.8L on my 60D. I have a Pentax K-1 coming soon I have a pentax Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 curious to see the results vs the K50 I used it on before which was just good. The Tamron 28-75 on a Canon 5D III was excellent for the price in my opinion. Keep up the good work.
Quality, Educational, Entertaining, thanks
Just 30 secs passed and clicked liked, great video guys !!!
+msamiullah Cheers buddy!
Was the Sont on an A7ii or A7Rii? Curious.
+The Emo Emu A7 RII
Thanks so much for doing this!
nice video. what wireless flash/trigger did you use for the sonys?
+Austin Paz Profoto B1 with an Air Remote for the Bike shots and a couple Einsteins with the Paul C Buff transmitter at the blacksmith's.
Jordan @ TCSTV
+TheCameraStoreTV thanks. no adapters or anything were needed for the sony hot shoe?
