A little line of paint across the bolt can let you know by looking if they have loosened.

Good video, I like that you used blue loc-tight.These bolts should have been tightened to a specific torque. Does anyone know what that number is?

50% of all cars shipped to Europe had / have this loose hub bolt problem.
They never used Loctite in the factory... 🤬

I've read about this issues several times on the SolsticeForum and it seems to happen to people who autocross their cars. I'm not saying it doesn't happen to daily drivers or garage queens, I'm just saying it seems to happen more to people who autocross their cars. BTW, go buy a lottery ticket.

Don't forget about the rear hubs also! I had the same issue happen to me at Willow springs raceway on the driver side rear. Since the track runs clockwise that side takes all the abuse. Losing a wheel at 120 going through the high speed carousel would have been really bad....

    Hey Mike.
Great little reminder to check the hub bolts once & a while.
You can see the rotor wear from the hubs being loose.
The brakes were helping to keep the hub from falling off.
The torque for the bolts is 85ft lbs.
Hope you torqued them down but didn't show that in the video.
That little 3/8 ratchet would never reach that spec.
Love your video's keep them coming.
You may want to do one on replacing those "original" tires.
Another preventable accident just waiting to kill you.
    Take care, Ron

Mike, since your Sky is used in autocross events, that is all the more reason why you should be torquing bolts down to mfr's. specs!

Yeah. I didn't have my torque wrench with me, but I'll be retorque them before my next event

Hay Mike with directional rotors the larger end of the slot should be facing towards the front of your car on the driver side designed to remove brake dust off the pads

Well dang. I never noticed that I did that. Thanks for the head's up. The next time I take my tires off, I'll swap them around.

Mike, I'm a Solstice owner for a few years now, and of course I've modded EVERYTHING out on it, thanks in part of ur channel here. 😉😎
Ur definitely a LIFE SAVER for all us dudes out here rockin a Sol/Sky..!!!!
I always recommend ur channel to anyone with our cars. 👍
Have u ever considered to throw-on some Eibach lowering springs on ur ride to give it a meaner stance..?
(That's what I did to mine, and it REALLY changed the look &,feel of the car as,it SHOULD'VE been done at the factory like a new Vette). Also had my car "wrapped" from the stock "gun metal grey"... To Deep gloss "Black-Rose". It's SICK..!!!! (As the "kids" of today would say-). 😏
Also put on a "K-Tuned" exhaust on mine (taken from the "Tuner" clicks-) and it gave it the PERFECT tone..! 😉👍. (Not OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD like some "Ricer" or some "Hot Rod"... 😒 )
Anyways, THANKS for ALL of ur tips and tricks... Keep up the good work. 👍😁

    shouldn't those be torked

    • @MikesHouseOfMods
      @MikesHouseOfMods  2 роки тому +1

Yes they should be set to 85 ft/lbs. I didn't have my torque wrench when I made the video since it was so sudden. But I'll be re-torqueing them when I pull the wheels again at the end of the week.
I made a note in the description explaining this.

Nice informative video Mike. Thanks again. Thinking this also might be true for other vehicles we all might own. I will be checking mine that's for sure.

this is what happens when common goof balls think they have race cars.
just because you put all of your useless visual mods on the car, doesnt mean you have any business on the track.
stay on the streets pal and do some basic maintenance once in awhile
