There are many things in our book - it's a conversation, it's a story - it's not a single monolithic statement on the nature of God. That verse in the letter to Timothy reflects just one part of a complex conversation about gender roles, and from the very beginning there have been female leaders in various parts of the Church (including within the Bible). Today the majority of the Church across the world understands that; (Gal. 3:28) "There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." So Em C's exasperation is quite reasonable.
I think we can all teach each other whatever our gender. As for exercising authority over people, I'm not sure it's the most useful language for this generation. I am more than happy though, as a man, to be accountable to female leadership - and have been on many occasions.
Could quite happily listen to your stories all day. Great talk.
A one woman epitome of the irrelevance of the church!
Who else was at green belt?!
Gosh - she's so right-on isn't she? Give her a TV programme I beg you. We need people like her to knock the stuffing out of stuffiness...
Great talk. Thanks
I'm not religious, but if I was EVER to go to church, I'd like someone like her...lol
Because she says everything you want to hear?

Paul was only telling some chatterbox women in Corinth to shut their traps, he paid glowing tributes to sensible women..:)
But Jesus had to be married . After all he was Jewish and had to have a wife
