About us,
We are a family from the North-East of England following our dream to restore a beautiful abandoned french Château. We discovered the heart stopping Château De Lalacelle in summer of 2020, this beautiful architectural monument Is set in the countryside of North-West France.
The moment we visited the Château we all fell in love, from the beautiful sweeping landscape and forests, to its stunning untouched interiors and magnificent spiral staircase in the turret.
Unfortunately Château De Lalacelle has been abandoned for a number of decades so will need a lot of restoration and DIY.
Please subscribe and follow our families journey, with the up’s and down’s in moving from the UK to rural France and restoring this beautiful building to its former glory.

the panneling 😍 look at Terrys happy face talking about his curtains 😆 Yves X
I think both Rob and Graham deserve there own special rooms named after them for all of the work they have done in the chateau
They absolutely do! 😊
Their 😉
Yep they do
I can see Graham moving over permanently
@@bcislandlife9795 I wish I could. Patrick and Stewart are awesome and their home is and will be stunning.
Can we take sometime to appreciate Graham's Skill? He is so amazing with his work, im impressed ❤
He is a master! We’re blessed mom let him come over for the time he does!! 😊
@@ashleywaters7198 No doubt, he is truly an asset
Bless Graham for all the work he has done!
Thank you. He’s amazing 😊😊
I love how calm Graham is about the work. I have found it's wonderful to work with calm, patient people.
Terry, you sure have a father-in-law who has completely given himself to your and Ash’s project. Looks like you have a great relationship with your father-in-law. Not everyone is so fortunate. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I loved seeing the floor plan. Was getting confused a bit with the layout of the rooms. Great team work! ❤️🇨🇦🍻
Thanks Jill 😊
Yes, the floor plan is so helpful to visualize. And consider a land plot with buildings, roads, stairs, gardens, caravans to help - this might be a "just' job..... lol
That was helpful. I agree.
I saw Graham hammering those enormous pins in. Then he missed and hammered his thumb! Poor man, he just kept on going. 💕🐥💕I always get a cuddly feeling watching Graham working with either Terry or Ash as he is such a gentle soul. You just want to hug him, he’s a real ‘Dad’ you’re all very lucky to have him come over to work as hard as he does. 💕🐥💕🐥💕xxxalex in Florida
Graham is a rock star!🤘🥇🤩
Graham is great.❤
A lot of progress being made all around. It’s great seeing things come together. The shot of the floor plan was really interesting and helpful. Glad the curtain rods have been sorted out, even though it took a ton of effort. Seeing them being tested was wonderful. It’s great what you are doing to raise money for Jonathan’s school; I’m sure your UA-cam family won’t let you down!
You All Working Hard Remember To Have Time To Your Self you Got A Amazing Term 💕
It all starts to come together and will be absolutely gorgeous. The fact that you did this restoration yourself only adds to the charm of the room when its finished. I think it would be nice to keep an album with foto’s of the whole process for the guests to see the Before and after.
Great idea! Thank you 😊😊
Graham has been a great help t hats for sure .. won't be long, and you'll be painting 😊
Graham is a absolute asset. Where would you be without some one in the family with his skills. He must go back to the UK for a holiday.haha. Well done all.
Haha. He does! We’re blessed to have him here with us! He’s amazing! 😊😊
Yes Graham, you have the body language of an excellent carpenter.
There’s also a “Thanks” button to donate. No donation too small. Let’s help the kids… God bless
Thanks Maria 😊😊
I'm missing Tony, be good to get an update. Hope he is ok?
Great North East lads, showing the true grit of the people from our region, keep it up, we are so proud of you all, Mam, Johnathan, Graham especially , Rob is a honary Jordie, for all the work he has done. God bless you.
"Little bits of elegance . . . [and] . . . luxury" are the defining elements of Terry's designs! Can't wait to see the final reveal! 🤩
Thanks Marthai
What was so interesting to me was watching Graham use his hand tools to "notch out" those curtain rail bracket supports into the wall! He has alot of valuable experience:)
LOVE being shown the floor plan. It makes such a difference in understanding where everything is.
Graham is your hero. 🎉😅
Haha. Yes he is! He’s amazing. 😊
Lots of work done again. Each step makes visible progress. Cudos to Graham and Rob for the invaluable support they provide. Good luck with the fundraising for school.
Sorry missed the live chat tonight. Love as always from County Durham xxx
Thanks Glenys
Graham is such a master carpenter; he and Terry make a great team! Excited for the next steps!
You are both so lucky to have such a family to help out and just being a loving supportive family❤
Graham is awesom with what he does, and the curtain rods with the curtain r a 👍 up. U all work so well together.
Thanks Sheila! He’s awesome! 😊😊
Glad you showed the curtain rails. They are beautiful, but wow to have to drill stone to get them in is quite the job. I've been watching Graham do some fiddly cutting with the power saw. He is amazing, taking tiny threads of wood off beautifully. This was really an interesting installment. I thank you.
Bless Graham for all the hard work and love he puts into the Chateau.
I hope Ash’s parents will renovate one of the outbuildings and move to France when their daughter is finished with College.
Terry, I loved, loved the Château layout graphic you inserted in the video. Perfect. Now we are situated.
It is really interesting how the sound has changed since you replaced the windows and added insulation. Even without the furniture and furnishings the acoustics are great. Love the curtain rails. They are beautiful. Graham is such a big help and works so hard. Love the music on the video.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I hope all the love I have for your beautiful chateau and each and everyone of you fills all the cracks and crevices! Sending so much your way and a cool breeze too!!!! Love all the way from steaming hot New York City 🍎🗽🎢🎡🎠🍏 to all (including dogs and gorgeous cat). Hugs and kisses too! (Germ free!) ☺️😉😍😂
I hope Tracy is okay, and everyone else stays well
incredible I did not know that there was so much sun in Normandy. the sky is always blue when you are filming
It rains too 😂😂
Hello from the USA
Evening Barbara 😊
Wow you guys are really coming along on the 400 suite, I can't hardly wait to see the paint go on.
Thanks Jerry! Won’t be long now! 😊
I pray for France....that the rioting ends and have peace for this country. 🙏🏼🌹💖
Love your paneling! We couldn’t do this in America. We would have to sand all the paint off. Building laws are terrible here.
As stated by many others, the quick showing of the floor plan and where you were working, was very helpful and a good reminder just of where it all is….
Thanks Shaun 😊
Great plans for Jonathan’s school fundraiser! Wishing you best of luck getting a good turnout once again! 🥰👏🏻
This suite is going to be incredible. Can’t wait to see it finished. You all deserve so much credit. Well done team!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I like that falling in workshop by the barn. It would make a very cool two story guest room.
You may want to consider turning the stables into an event bar. I can see it with indoor bar seating and a large patio for area for more seating with lights strung over it. It is close to the road, so an additional drive could be added. Maybe a weekend lunch cafe with sandwiches, too. Additional revenue streams could be a good option.
Cracking job Lad’s 🥰🥰
It's better to fix the vaporbarrier to the wall instead of to the wooden pannels. It will allow you to avoid unnecessary gaps in the vaporbarrier. You could use strips of wood to clamp the vaporbarrier to the walls. And the strips of wood could then be used as a base to attach the panels to the walls. This option allso allows you to create a thin layer of air between the panneling and the vaporbarrier. Another interesting thing is the use of breathebal vaporbarrier. Especially in area's where it's impossible to install insulation. Given the characteristics of a stonewall, that would be a plus
I like how Pandi was supervising the install of the foil insulation ❤
Can't wait to see this finished. All of you have worked so hard on the rooms. It is going to be beautiful.
Thanks Veda 😊
Oh thank you for the floor plans lp a lot to understand now welldone it starting to look brilliant
Love hugs and kisses to you all

Thanks Johann 😊😊
Wow, placing those curtain rods and their anchors was an epic battle! But what’s a restoration without having the house( or chateau) fight you back a bit, and make you work for the victory?! 😉Those strong steady hands of Gordon were worth their weight in gold today! Great work guys!
Thanks Rita! Graham has been a godsend! 😊😊
Hi, how come you didn't hide central heating pipes behind panneling?😅
Gosh, we could all use a Graham in our life!❤ Terry, you are so in your element right now, all that hard work....just hanging the temp drapes, such a difference 😊 Fabulous ideas to raise funds for the school.😊❤ Waving at Ash 🙋♀️ ❤
Thanks Jo :) Graham has been phenomenal 😊😊
Really liked having the plans to look at. Thanks
Graham, you and Terry were phenomenal today... I'm knackered just being empathetic. Nice to see Tracy and Ashley for the wrap-up. Ash, how do you manage to have such brilliant white tee shirts on the job sites? You're amazing !
I am always amazed at how much you all do!
Thanks Melanie 😊
It's fun Terry, whn you get to plan for paint and all the shiny bits!
It won’t be long now 😊😊
Doing a brilliant job there graham , think they will miss you when you go home .
I got here late for the live because I had to deal with an unruly salesperson on the phone about a package I did not receive!!! 😫😜😵💫 But I’m here to see it secondhand and hope to have my strength restored--I recently had a heart attack so I am trying to watch all my special shows to find solace. 🥰🎶❤️❤️❤️🇨🇦
Ambient light there will be stunning!!!💡 😎 Pandora is a gorgeous kitty kat!!! 🐈 So good of her to help you guys out!!! 🥰❤️❤️❤️ You are making a string of pearls out of an old sow’s ear!!! 🥰🥰🥰❤️❤️❤️🤣🤣🤣
Voile pronounced Vwale --Today’s French lesson. oi makes a wa sound. 🥰🎶❤️ Such an amazing adventure in chateau design!!! 🥰🏰❤️❤️❤️🎶🎶🎶🇨🇦 Graham or Graeme??? 🥰🎶❤️
Bless you Kerry-Lynn! Hope you are feeling ok now! 🥰🥰
Haha. And it’s Graham 😊😊
You might consider planting Cryptomeria Japonica 'Yoshina' or 'Radican' in front of the property along the fence by the road and at the back of the property to block the view of the neighboring farm. Fast growing, evergreen, virtually maintenance free, deer resistant, disease resistant, great screen and noise block. Yoshina is wider than Radican variety at the base, so consider the space that you have before deciding on the variety. They are really beautiful and have soft feathery greenery. A truly fast growing great back drop to any area.
Thank you. I’ll look into that. We have planted some bushes, red Robin I believe. They’re doing really well :) 😊
Are they fast growers? need to deter where ever possible both visual and intrusion. Holly might do also, They would be second year usable where I live.
@@terryk_ Really, really fast. They grow 3-5 feet a year after the first year of establishing themselves and get 50-70 feet tall. Hollies are good for screening, too, but they grow VERY slowly.
@@ashleywaters7198 'Radican' is the more compact of the two varieties at 45 feet tall and get about 15-20 feet wide at the base. 'Yoshino' get 60-70 feet tall and are approx 30' wide at the base.
@@maryangela9178 Since they are on the net now, I would definitely want some deterrent to familiarity around their properties.
Yes please rest, don’t overdo it.
What. an amazing family you are! You are so busy but still make time to give back to the school. Just love how you work together and get things done. Tracy I am in Awe of you! It's so exciting to see how this suite is coming together and having the extra help makes such a difference. Rob and Graham are so skilled and hard working as well. I haven't seen Tony in a while?? Good luck with the fundraising.
Going great guns, cracking on wow!
Thanks Carolyn 😊
Good work for the team Graham. Another brilliant watch.
Thanks Valerie 😊
Watching this video I am getting excited to see the finished suite can't wait😊
Thank you 😊
Great job on the panelling, Graham is a treasure❤️
Fantastic work also the extra people helping
You guys are awesome!! Graham and Rob are treasures!
I continue to be intrigued by the way the team simply fixes hinges around to the way you/they need them to be. Magnificent. And yes, the restored, repaired, and reconstructed panels do look quite good. Can’t wait to see what they will look like all finished up.
Thanks Paul 😊😊
Several things: thanks for the use of the floor plans. I finally understand the layout. Secondly, I would love to donate to Jonathan’s school. Perhaps you add a link where those of us unable to visit could donate. Third, the rooms are going to be outstanding. Lastly, it is on my bucket list to visit one year, so that i can see in person the very beautiful chateau.
Thanks Joanna. We would move to meet you one day :) we will set up a GoFundMe for it yes 😊😊
Good, I was worried I was going to miss it
Thank you 😊
Oh the rooms will be beatyfull. 😊
What a amazing job you have worked your magic.🎉
Terry, make sure to wear safety glasses when hammering that cement wall.
Would love to attend your event but we are from the states. The auction sounds fun.
Ye are all brilliant, well done
Looking fantastic!
Sorry that hanging the curtain rod was such a pain,Terry, but I got chill bumps watching it go up, more than almost anything else you have done, so far. You are getting so close! I have watched from the very beginning and it is so exciting to see your lovely Chateau springing back to life. You all are so talented and hard working. So pleased that you have some extra help to speed up your process. Crack on!
It is coming along well. I look forward to the upcoming events. ❤
I have had a hilarious time reading the subtitles😂 as i watch your wonderful youtube
Hello everyone from Ontario Canada so loving the 400 suites.
Thanks Heidi 😊
You have amazing helpers! Things are moving forward at a steady pace with all the extra hands. How great is that!??
It’s been an amazing couple of weeks :) 😊
I can hardly wait see it painted!
Neither can we 😊😊
Oh my those anchor pins for the drapery rods! Yes it takes a lot of time but it is so worth it 🎉🎉 Enjoy your relax time and your drinks!!
Thanks Carol 😊
Thank you for sharing your school fundraising plans. I would love to participate in the online auction. I can't be there personally, 😪 but I can still contribute. The progress y'all have made in the 400 is amazing. You'll have painted walls before you know it. 🥳👏
Great work. Graham is a Godsend as are all the people who are able to help. Looking forward to the fundraisers. 🤗
He really is! Thank you 😊😊
I wish the door had been hung to swing the other way into the bathroom. Then the bathroom window could have given more light into the bedroom with the door open plus by opening the other way it provides some immediate visual privacy if someone comes into the bathroom while someone is already in there.
.the rooms are going to look amazing...great job on the paneling...❤👍
Thank you 😊😊
Thanks for adding the visual blueprint of the chateau. Will you be creating another bathroom upstairs for the other chambers on the right? You may have said in earlier videos, but I don't remember. Great job on all your renovations.
Good kind of wood. There is no mold or rot on it.
It’s really good! 😊😊
Great job with the door frame and window paneling ❤❤❤Bonne chance with the charity and auction ❤❤❤❤❤
You are so fortunate to have Graham helping you. Everything looks great. Before we know it the painting will start.
The suite is coming together so quickly now. Are you going to have a GoFundMe account like you did at Christmas? I would love to donate again to help Jonathan’s school.
Thank you Pam. Yes we will be :) 😊😊
Another job well done.
Adding the map of the layout was fabulous. Thanks.
Another great day to progress
Thanks Marcia 😊😊
Is Graham a relative? I understand how you're anxious to paint and decorate those rooms. But since the sanding on the next suite will create so much dust, would it make sense to take advantage of Graham being there and hang the drywall and sand in the next suite before decorating this one?
It looks really smart, I can imagine it finished now .
Thanks Glenys 😊
The temporary curtains hanging give me an idea as to how it will look when the real ones go up. they will be stunning. Good work Terry, Tracy, Ash and Graham.
I love how the video started. You took the viewer right into the action. The rooms are really coming together. I hope you all bring in apprentices; the skills you all have must be shared. Another great job!
You guys wear me out, wow, I never considered what it took to hold the weight of curtain rods, going through stone, wow...what a busy month ahead...fun...!!!
Looks lovely
I’ve got a question. With one side painted and the other side encased in a foil vapor barrier, how can the wood breathe?
OMG! When you were trying to lower that big beam down to the floor or the scaffold I was truly holding my breath!!😬
