- SPOILERS FOR THE END OF THE MANGA OF GIRLS LAST TOUR
BTW if you want more of Chiito And Yuuri, read Shimeji Simulation by the same author, Tsukumizu.
I spent way too much time on this...
by the way, the song at the end is Owari no Uta from the Girls' Last Tour anime Ost
You should have included chii using her journals as firewood, that hurt
i wanted to but i didnt want it to be too long
that fucking DESTROYED my soul, along with the vehicle breaking too.
Look,. There can be only just so much sadness and despair in one video. You can't have kettenkrad And journals in same video. So much loss in one spot would crush a soul already bruised and suffering from the knowledge of the end.😥
also the AI shutting itself down since it's been burdened far too long for existing
Fr though
For some reason the AI asking for assisted suicide in the manga really got to me.
me too
man I was reading in class and got to that part where I began tearing up like got damn
that was my favorite chapter. it was so alien, beautiful, terrible, and ultimately, preventable. like a flower withering.
even the AI wants to die
Who would know, AI would be a system that compares a reality with its error and tries to find the most logical process to interpret the reality that has been given to it, so like any intelligence or complex system ends up falling and dying or transforming for some reason, although what sense will it have if we cannot even understand how we die and other beings' experiences...But paradoxically we know how We end life and at the same time it does not end. There may be several previous civilizations on earth or in space, or present or future ones will be born or it will not make sense to ask them why.
The ending is the accurate representation of "atleast we tried" they dont know if its gonna worth it or not but they still try to reach the top grasping that little hope they have but when all things done and its all nothing...its sad absolutely but they tried and all that left now is to rest, atleast they still have each other.
Living was the best huh?
@@korn6657 well human always finds a way to survive, if it doesnt work out, at least we tried. We tried to reach the stars but still end up on the moon. So progress is great. Of course the ending we wouldnt know, similar if we worked out but we dont know how many weight we are going to reduce, but if we dont try, we will remain unchanged,
"What is the meaning of life? Aren't the robots alive as well"
*...life perhaps means something that has an end to it*
I think it was more the fact that they died in their terms. They did not suffer, achieved what they wanted and just like that it was over.
@@xcjsmith5310 bro u just took it seriously
"...LIVING WAS THE BEST, WASN'T IT...?"
"...YEAH."
No joke, I kept thinking about the ending for like 3 days straight when I've read it. In the end, I told myself that they went to heaven (the shot of them standing in a grassy field). Such a powerful and brilliant manga.
this manga got an ending that kept me haunted for days
10/10 for me
Sorry for this, but after the end of the manga them are dead. And that puts me sad.
@@Qingkmiz hey, you can just say they live on in Shimeji Simulation.
@@hanimeme9304 yeah, but for the moment, i didn’t even started to read Shimeji Simulation.
@@hanimeme9304 what you mean is it a sequal?????
tbh, i remember feeling just pure shock and horror when the Nukos told them that they were only ones left that they could find aside from the top. It was pretty clear to me what was going to happen and when i finally read the manga to the end, it hurt even more and still does
This is extremely accurate
i tried my best
I also read the manga after watching the anime. I felt hopeless and helpless at the end of it, but the girls said at the end, "It was a blessing to live, wasn't it?
I too became friends with despair.
Thanks for making this video!
That's exactly how I felt. It's nice to see other people feel the same way, kind of the reason why I made this video
" Hopelessness "
I remember the first time I finished the anime: "What a great show. Sad, but great. At least they are alive.... oh hey there is a manga which continued the story."
After I finished the manga, I was just broke
same :(
Same😢
:c
The ending absolutely destroyed me and left me empty
they got teleport to a new world (it's writer's new comic)
When I reached the ending, I had a feeling of cognitive dissonance. "no. I refuse it ends here. I refuse the fact that they might have died." That was in my head for days and really got me sick physically (I got constant goosebumps, fatigue, and dizziness) till I accepted it. Everything eventually ends.
I guess I was too attached lmao
you can continue to read Shimeji Simulation which is by the same author, which has Chiito and Yuuri in it as side cameos.
The ending is pretty depressing but also kind of wholesome. So many horrible ways to die in the apocalypse and they both peacefully passed away embracing each other in their sleep after they reached the top.
In a hopeless world, it was the best ending for them.
It would better if there was a shelfter with survived peoples on it..
Because of all the pages taken up by the city at the end I was convinced I wasn’t near the end yet and frantically started flicking through the pages hoping to see them again. 11/10 The greatest ending to a story ever. Of all time.
The manga ending was brilliant. It gave closure to the readers on what ultimately happened to them.
Aaaaand then there's their cameos in Shimeji Simulation.
;)
A part of me says that the ending of the manga should just stay in the manga because it felt like the end of the Anime was cheerful enough on the viewing standpoint but once you step into the manga, its like you're now on that journey with them in the broken world since where everything comes crushing down with only hope left until you've reached the top, the end of the long road and the kettengrad stopped working and being turned into one final moment of indulgence being the point of no return and the colorless art of the manga being black and white helps sells it where its no longer the somewhat colorful world with beauty still present and reading throught the last bits of chapters hit me that the color(or lack there of) makes me feel the cold and gloomy world around. I really cant explain what i feel about the ending and i can never do it justice but the entire last chapter and he chapters before it is just ingrained into my heart.
On thst note, this video is extremely accurate.
I just realize that if youve watched the ED after reading the ending of the manga, you suddenly realize thst the ED isnt just the ending of the episodr but is also the ending of the series...
yeah tsukumizu wasnt holding back when animating it
imagine if they decided to adapt it end made everything after the AI in black and white
I actually kept thinking about the ending for days. I think the thing that me sad the most was that they didnt have a chance in the first place and maybe if they stayed down there they would have better chances of surviving.
I read a post on reddit that maybe the grandpa told them to go to the top floor since it was once a launching pad. We have seen that the last rocket launch was successful so I think that humans have definitely survived on another planet. But those two girls missed their chance without realizing it. That somehow made me less sad about the ending. Because they did have a chance but they missed it.
Chii burning her journal broke me
Nice, time to cry myself to sleep again
you're welcome
I was playing the soundtrack for the anime while reading the end, and the piano cover of the opening kicked in right as they finally cuddled together, and I just broke down crying. 10/10 wonderful for my first completed manga.
Same
To make a depressing video even more depressing, here's the list of things that happened after the Kettenkrad is broken:
-After the Kettenkrad is broken, they force to abandon some of their supply because they continue the journey on foodt.
-The journey on foot is grueling with all the load they bear, ascending terrain, and fatigue (Chi having the hardest time)
-Yuu discard her rifle companion, to lighten her burden, saving some bullet for igniting an explosive (they bring some)
-Chi burning her book one by one to save fuel, then all of her books, then some of her journal's pages, then all of her journal.
-They ascend the last stair in the darkness because their lantern are out of fuel and they want to save cooking fuel.
-After they arrive in the highest field, what they found is...nothing, they still happy though.
-They celebrate with the only consumable they have (what they know at the moment), water.
-Their last supply: Knife, Lantern, Wire, Explosive, and single pack of Ration (which Yuu didn't know she have and mistaken for an explosive)
-They spent the last of their ration together.
-Their last word in this manga:
"So what do we do from here?"
"well...first of all we eat...then a nap...and after that let's think of something"
A story about acceptance.
This really destroyed me internally lol
Most stories are about perserverance and never giving up.
GLT is the opposite and executes it well.
I watched this around the same time as Made in Abyss.
They're like the *exact* opposite in both genre, premise, theme, etc.
MIA is a horror-action adventure anime about perserving into unknown depths.
GLT is a cute-SoL adventure anime about acceptance as they go towards unknown heights.
Even the colours contrast. GLT uses cold gray colours while MIA uses bright warm colours.
Just thought that was interesting lol
Me too, man, me too! I watched MIA at first then switched to GLT and found some contrasts and similarities and to be honest GLT strikes more painful than MIA because MIA tears a huge chunk of our soul while GLT cuts it bit but bit making the torture longer.
Violet Evergarden is on the other hand feels a heartwarming anime despite it being a drama, love those 3
Damn I didn’t even watch it or read it but I already feel like I’ve been watching and reading it for years
Thanks, I didn't plan for that lol
I absolutely believe that shimeji simulation is the direct sequel, and that black stone is what put them in the simulation.
Hmmm, interesting theory
The Tower AI hit me too.
I mean... She was so happy to see the girls...
you definetly should have added chito's monologue when they were climbing the stairs, that was really touching
i wanted to but i couldnt find a good way to put it in that fit naturally with the music
Bro the manga ending almost made me cry and now whenever I see the ending song it really hurts. (Through the head bobbing at how dope that song is)
my favorite ed in anime ever. Dance through the tears!
The chopin scene is what absoltuely crushed me. Chi and yuu finally discovering what humanity is all about in a video record ,seeing the best and most loving side of humanity, and it's darkest and most cruel.
Then you see that the worst of humanity won and robbed the world of everything. 😢 this show/ manga has of a way of letting your guard down through its cute moe cast before hitting you with some heavy bleak philosophy.
Literally "Girl's Last Tour". Means till they died. 😢
Yes, but i think it was the most peaceful death in post apocalyptic world. There is a lot of moments where these two cute girls were very close to painful death, but they survived that all and passed away, sleeping together.
@@d3fcon_1 its better than starving to death, if they really did die in their sleep.
Just finished the manga a half hour ago. Its hard to swallow that ending. I knew it was coming but I hung on and cherished every page I read of there adventures. I related so mush to this anime and manga. I feel even in worse about there deaths. Like what does that say about our lives? Like its all pointless in the end. A quote I can’t get out on my head is when Chito said “Is that what it means to live….coming from darkness and then returning to darkness”
What happens at the end ?
@@RobinTheFrenchBaka (spoilers of the end, but the video already spoils it anyway)
they reach the top floor, all to find.. nothing. It's flat, there's basically nothing there.
The final broke me in a way i never see before.
Don't forget about Shimeji Simulation, it's essentially the sequel/prequel (Who knows?) to Girls' Last Tour as Yuu and Chito show up.
Man the Kettenkrad breaking followed with Yuu throwing off her rifle, Chii burning down Kappa and all her books and then being forced to burn page by page, and to do that to her Journal, and then, the staircase scene. I dont cry easily, but DAMN, that hit me so good i couldnt keep myself together during it
1:21 NOOOO! It's a trap! IT"S A TRAP!
It can no longer be undone
I still cry for our girls. Thank you for making this video.
its an old meme format that is a bit stale by now, but im glad people are still seeing this video show up in their reccommended
I just finished the manga this second…I could not understand the ending, but then I realized that it wasn’t that I didn’t get it, it’s that I refused to get it…
My friend made a bet to not cry for a week so i recommend her this anime. :D
She obviously lose the bet
good friend
you have forgotten the final stage - rebirth into a higher being, when, having seen the end of this world, you become the happiest person on this earth.
I mean they DID live a better life in Shimeji Simulation so i guess so!
"Good Night, Sleep Tight, Our Two Lovely Adventurer Angels."
If the current international conflict keep escalating...
I'm not thrill to see this anime gets live action.
bruhhh
Next step: read Shimeji Simulation
YEAH!!
Realize chii and yuu are living happy in there
Been a while since a story of any kind touched me like this absolute banger of an anime/manga did. Great stuff and cathartic meme as I have no one to discuss this with.
after reading the manga I almost cried and my chest felt very painful.
this is my favorit anime
❤
press F to salute these girls
It's so depressing
dont cry because its over, smile because it happened
the IA asking to be "killed".
The worst of all is that the nukos ate them, they stated that they don feed on LIVING human, so that's why all those drawers were empty with belongings. They were graves.
the meaning on keep living no matter how bad life is
man it hurts me when it comes to the ending episode
Man, I see the end and still just hits me like a concrete wall
I cried a lot with this anime 😭 😢 💔 ☹️ 💕 😩
Everyone was crying.
Great video :) The eternal wait for season 2 continues...
its hard hitting.
not because of what the ending was. but because of the effort, and then throwing away the legacy, your story.
this manga never really put any reason to like it than cute girls going through shit and traveling. their bleak adventures. their hope of the top level.
why does it hurt so bad when it all ends? good or bad. nothing really happened. there was no real character growth. no real backstory. no real relation to the characters.
I dont get it. but it hurts all the same.
Imagine Fan-made ending Where They are still alive ,Find Humanity, not alone in this world, still going on and Peaceful living
like the jojo version of the ending of metamorphasis
@@hanimeme9304 Nah chief, that's canon
Definitely overlooked for most people, but once they find it, it shines bright...brighter than bright *;)*
I remember being depressed for an entire month after reading the manga, but it was worth it.
Yuuri pointing her rifle at Chito for a bar of chocolate at the very 1st episode got me 😢. It shows what war really is
I really want a special anime film of this manga starting from the breakdown of kettenkrad. I know it will be too traumatizing but I just want it. Also I think it should be just black and white (like adult swim adaptation of uzumaki by junji ito) because, we are witnessing the end of the world and it'll be some sort of disrespecting to make it colourful and visually appealing. The sole purpose of this film would be to make viewers cry the most painful way possible 😂
i think the original had color but it was mostly desaturated so that the few moments of color really stood out
0:54 Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind, anyone? Dx
YES THATS EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT!!
You know that one quote in Frieren about how it’s “more convenient” to believe in heaven? Yeah, I get it now.
Everything was a fucking rollercoaster of emotions and then the manga.......
A few days ago, i finished watching this anime, it was, PERFECT, i was crying because of the ending for 30 minutes straight, i think the ending really left bruise on my brain, and now, i understand that there is even more in manga version, i really hope that when i finish reading manga i would not get traumatized (because of ending) for the rest of my life
what a great show to end my 2021 lol
ngl, i block and avoid everything that relate to this anime (and the manga) for more than 1 month after i finished the manga, cuz i feel something weirdly hurt whenever i think and remember about it
man, that manga, I read it before I watched the anime, I'm kinda glad I was spared from the ending from the manga and having to go through it again.
Absolutely soul-breaking.
This anime made me permanently question the worth and worthlessness of life
My kyoudai, seems like you struck gold with this video
個人的に最高傑作の漫画の1つ
Man this show was one of the best ones I’ve ever seen
1:13 I just had a very strong empty feeling when the anime ended, but I knew I had to get the manga
honesstly after the end of the manga I really just entered a week-long perpetual state of mild depression. shit really fucked me up ngl
how do i stop the tears
if you dont drink water for a while, tears will be a bit more difficult to produce.
Stairway to heaven...
But it is comical that in the manga the main characters consider the option that they are the souls of the dead
I prefer the ending in anime to the manga
White Friday, I'll take the
Stairway to Heaven
I'm sky high, when I die
I'll be immortal
Forever, I never
I won't return to
Blood mountain, I am the
Soldier of Heaven
after reading the manga
This song have another meaning for me
Oh no, i don't want remember again. Pain.
I havent touched this mangasince 2017 and my throat's getting stuck up
This is an exact representation of how it went for me.
This proves...that our enemy is EXISTENCE itself!
I did research on the kettenkrad and learned what it was. Now i see this afer seeing it a couple months back. Now i know why they gave up.
yeah it really was the backbone of their tour
You become the canniest when you find about Shimeji Simulation and see the potatoes have been isekai'd
Actually theres a happy ending
Yuu and chito get isekai-ed into the shimeji simulation (another mamga by the same author) world where they live a somewhat normal life.
Tho i think shimeji simulation might take place in heaven, since theres a lot of weird stuff and theres literally a restaurant named heaven and stuff
In the anime, the end of the manga is represented at the end of the first chapter
Yo I never thought of that!!
My exact feelings after just now finishing it
Yes... I already had a bad feeling when their Kettenkrad was broken.
It's fking 1 am and I cant stop crying
Aw fuck why did I decide to look up videos about GLT again. I read that Manga years ago and I still have to clench my teeth to reign in the tears just from seeing pictures of the last few pages. Like in this video. Got to get along with the feeling of hopelessness.
Man, UA-cam randomly recommend this video to me. I feel so old because I've already watched/read the manga and i feel so empty about it.
Sorry 😐
Literally me 10 mins ago. Also, moment with Chito burning her journals is really sad, but the ending is saddest. Also, there is a picture at the end of manga, where Chito and Yuri are standing on the field, i think it's an afterworld. Both anime and manga are masterpiece.
i think you are thinking of the cover to Shimeji Simulation, the manga that Tsukumizu wrote after GLT (and is still ongoing)
Ehhh... i watched whole anime and readed manga ending in one summer night when i couldnt sleep, im thinking about ending to this day, i think i can even call it masterpiece, it has deeper meaning than 99% of anime and generally books, 10/10 i would recommend this series to everyone
worst best mistake ever i've ever done in my life reading this masterpiece
And my mistake was seeing Violet Evergarden, which is a real tear gland press.
No no no, why sad? They woke up the next morning, found a HUGE stash of rations, and parts to fix the Kettenkrad, and then they rode it and discovered a large settlement of survivors with gardens and farm animals and lived happily ever after!
after they were at the submarine, I felt that it was so lonely. They were all alone forever after that. It just felt so empty suddenly
not alone, they always had each other and that is enough :_)
If this anime pass this vibe, imagine made in abyss final episode then...
And I feel like this is gonna send me into who knows what
No wonder the title's Girls' Last Tour...
literalmente yo con el anime hasta el final
Completely accurate
To be honest, I started watching the anime, I stopped at episode 8, recently I started watching the manga and I looked at it and said "wow, that looks really cool".
But man and very sad the trajectory of Yuu and Chii in that empty world, Kettenkrad destroyed, chii throwing her diaries in the fire and the end. That ending messed with my psyche.
Do not mourn, though some day night will come. For then, above the pale earth, the cold moon will smile silently as we watch, holding hands in rest. Do not mourn, for some day that time will come. And we will rest. Our little crosses will stand upon white waysides, all lines up together. And then the rains will fall, and the snows will fall and the winds will come and go. - Auf Wanderung, Hermann Hesse
Agh, freak...Who let the onions here?
It hurts, it hurts, it hurts
They just fell asleep, okay? 😭😭😭 They’re gonna wake up soon, right? Right?!?
And they will find some food, new kettenkrad, and will be happy :_)
my heart...
Llore mucho con este anime
