  • Announcing the Luminous Light Up Your City Skate!
Gold Coast Rollout is proudly hosting the Gold Coast part of this Australia wide competition, sponsored by top skate brand FR skates. Gold Coast Rollout has received the following prizes; a full set of inline wheels, a full set of quad wheels, and two full sets of bearings!
Australia’s Inline and Quad scene has grown remarkably in recent years, and FR wants to showcase the amazing skate communities in each Australian city to the rest of the world! They want videos on the theme of "Luminous Light Up Your City". They will be shot in after-dark city skates,
showing the skaters wearing FR Luminous Wheels in the foreground, set against a background of iconic / photogenic night-time GC locations.
In the month of June, the main skate communities country-wide will film their videos. Gold Coast Rollout will communicate which rollouts will film footage, and we might organise a few special skate meet-ups just for this comp! Other GC skate groups are welcome to participate; to be considered, the videos must be shot on the Gold Coast and show Luminous wheels to best effect, and need to be submitted to the organizer Gold Coast Rollout via Julio Espin.
All Luminous-wearing participants in the videos will be entered into a raffle to win one of the prizes. Raffle prize winners are then entered into a grand prize pool where one of them will win the ultimate prize pack of a set of Luminous inline skates or a roller skate specific bundle; depending on the winning skater's preferred discipline. The winner of the prize pack will be announced in July.
As a part of this event, the following participating local skate shops are giving a 10% discount to all Luminous wheels!
    • Bayside Blades (Melbourne/Tasmania)
    • Lucky Skates (Western Australia)
    • Skate Society (South Australia)
    • World Of Wheelcraft (NSW/Sydney)
We aim to provide FR with as much high quality media content as possible, to share it with the rest of the world, in a big collaborative video!

There are community skate groups all over the world and they often follow two or three formats. Some of them like in that video is where a bunch of skaters go on a street skate every so often. Then another type is ones that instead of being on the street they go along public paths or if you're in a coastal region along a beach path. Other ones where they are located in a city that has public spaces is where they just practise skating in an area there, another good spot for that is if there are public netball courts or public basketball courts with a nice surface. Then of course there are skateparks for people that want to do the skate park thing. Even where there are no skateparks I've seen videos from people in cities where they make their own skatepark just using things they find. If you are in a place where there isn't any skating community yet, There are probably people like you that wish there was one. Have you considered trying to just start a little community where people meet up maybe once a week or every two weeks for a skate? Depending on where you are it might be better to do this on Facebook or Instagram or another social media platform. Where we are located in Australia is best for us to use a combination of Facebook and Instagram. If you have a Facebook page the nice thing is that you can allow other people to post on it when they are going to go skating, and that way they can invite others to join them on their skate and to feel safer and happier being in a group instead of on their own 🙌🏽
