Tom Shear is a musical genius. He writes of dark emotions that most of us have been taught are taboo to express, verboten to address. He takes the worst aspects of despair and grief and transforms them into art. A true artist is one who evokes emotions in his or her work. Shear most definitely does that, and powerfully so. I regret I did not get to see Tom Shear when he was performing in Atlanta last year. I hope I will get another chance.
ive never had alot of money, all my music ive found to love has been on youtube or from friends ^__^ recently ive bought CDs of groups i love and i feel so much happier that i can support them too, if only in a little way :3
'saw you guys at Ground Zero in Minneapolis the other night. Great show! This is my favorite cut from the new album, and I'm so glad you played it! Come back soon, Mr. Shear!
I actually pre-ordered this on CD without having heard a single track off it. :p I love buying CDs, there's something fantastic about the scent of a newly opened CD and then putting it in my stereo in the living room. I don't get people who prefer digital copies. Also CDs you can bring to concerts and hope to get signed ;)
I totally get this! Even though I don't really listen to CDs anymore, I don't even have a CD player - only have a DVD-ROM drive on one of my computers. But having the physical CD regardless is so nice! But I only collect CDs from very few artists, those who really stand close to my heart. Anyway, you can order signed CDs directly from Tom's webshop (linked from the main Assemblage 23 website), you only need to state your wish in the comment section for your order. Though I really get that having them signed on a concert feels so much more! Unfortunately though, A23 never comes to my country. :( Now his old albums are not printed anymore. Thinking of still getting them second-hand. Having a physical copy of Bruise would be great.
If i hear some tracks of a new album release on YT and ich like it I go out and buy it nontheless. 1. I am a guy who likes his music on CD, bit oldschool but so what ^^ 2. It´s my pleasure to support my fave Artists this way so that they can continue their work.
I don't see the problem with this. It promotes your work (which is awesome!) and he makes his money (I'm assuming. Many musicians say that they make their money by touring) by touring. Metropolis Records doesn't really promote their artists all that much.
imo defiance is toms weakest album and that was still far and away one of the best synthpop albums of that year, thats how good assemblage 23 are! i have no idea how tom manages to consistantly put out amazing music year after year.great album yet again, one of the very few bands i always buy the cd for.

The best of the high-energy tracks on this album. Outsider is still my favorite though.
still doesn't beat the smell of a spinning vinyl! :D
now that 2012 is ending and 2013 is coming it kinda sucks cuz Assemblage probably wont be back for a few years but im glad they made a new album
But sometimes they are nowhere to be found on CD
So you have no choice but to buy it on internet

I so want this song covered by a hard rock band... that would be sweet!
