Very amazing to see how great minds assembled are able to make great things

MIT came up with the lightpen touchscreen, IR touchscreen and resistive touchscreen. But not the capacitive touchscreens that are used nowadays in smartphones and tablets. Surprisingly the capacitive touchscreen came from the CERN labs even though CERN's main goals are related to nuclear research.

So do they hold patents to all of those? Does that mean they are crazy rich?

Except GPS because they thought that nobody wanted it. And also they don't hold patent over the capacitive touchscreens used in smartphones and tablets nowadays which actually came from the CERN laboratory. They do however hold patents over the other types of touchscreen such as resistive, lightpen and infrared. Despite all those patents they are not extremely rich, the corporations that provide the end-user products are much more rich. But at the same time the laboratories have a much safer position in the market, it's actually a lot easier for a company that makes general consumer products to quickly lose money. Not to mention MIT's Lincoln lab is actually one of the most important labs from the US. The Media Lab is newer and was made to place more focus on consumer technologies I think. While the Lincoln Lab technologies not necessarily become accessible to the public. There are many Lincoln lab technologies that were never intended to make their way to consumers such as 3D CAD which took 32 years to become available to ordinary people.

Is it true a MIT media lab employee, produced a 9/11 film showing a plane strike the South Tower?

One does not simply "change" the future for the future is not set.

How can future be changed? Something that exists ahead of time is changed in the past?
