@@themanftheworld8439 No you didn't, you had 1500 max in one section of the old North Stand. As you look at that end, it had four bays / pens, Sunderland were in the right hand side one ands we were right next to yor away following. I take it you werent there cos, if you were, you would know what that night was like.
@@matthewballard6399 Exactly. Our average for the 84 / 85 season was 24k. That was, more or less aligned with most first division (as it was then) averages. With pay on the day admission and cash only, all ticket games were not that common, meaning loads of scope for declaring low crowds and avoiding paying more money to the inland revenue. Im not, by any means saying we (Chelsea) had 50k every week cos we didnt, our attendances have always fluctuated, but so were almost everyone elses.
Always had massive away surport top 5 in the country and it was proper staunch surport not what we got today load of prawn sandwich eaters an div,s wanting to tell other muppets they work with they went chelsea if you aren't a member and can't afford to go every week you got no chance of a ticket so the bridge is 3 quarter muppets with few quid and no affinity with chelsea at Al atmosphere is chit 80%of the time just dummies sat in silence !
If I remember correctly there were a few Northumbria police who were prosecuted for beating the shit out of Chelsea fans including breaking one blokes arm. Remember walking past the fab old roker end after the game and the chelsea fans were trying to get out but the police wouldnt let them, there was v def a nasty and violent atmosphere that night.
I was there. Def a violent atmosphere. Some of the police were thugs, Ken Bates asked fans to complain about the police. And not mentioned - the centre half Joe McLaughlin came off injured, Mickey Thomas and Colin Lee were injured and still played on, as only one sub then. Colin Lee moved up front as he could hardly move.... Some Everton police were the same. KTBFFH .
Look at that Chelsea following 👌🏻👌🏻🔵 thought we had no fans before money 🤔🤔
We took a similiar amount to SB.Your league home games were 13 k average.
23,065...to be correct...the league match at Stamford bridge was 25,000 August 27th 1984.
