David Attenborough said that Mary Anning taught the finest minds in the country about the science of geology and the fossils of this area . She is well recognised today, Mary Anning is such a good topic for kids to learn about at school
Thanks very much Phil after all the stormy 🌊 weather ⛈ , today made it feel like the first spring day with the lovely sun out . Thanks very much for watching as always
Thanks very much for watching, it was like Spring on the beach today - finally! What’s the weather like with you ? - great I hope. I will look back at these UA-cam videos and think 🤔 gosh it was stormy ⛈ times back in WINTER 🌊
That is a very good point Liam, who ever propped it up there must have been too near the cliff. I did see people keeping away from the particular area though. They must have been frightened off by the sign 🪧. The sign will get washed away sadly by the next big spring tide and a good SW WIND 💨
The intermediate stones are always a bit of a gamble Karsten. So many don’t work out well as you know. Funny looking stone the intermediate one, now I have washed it up .
I’m fascinated by your videos! Looks like a wonderful place to visit! You keep mentioning the iron “pyritees”. Would you please tell us what you’re looking at and describing when you say that term?
Thanks 🙏 very much I look for iron pyrite ammonites, the fossils you commonly find called Promicroceras sp. are preserved in “ fools gold.” This mineral you find in many of the fossils on the beach at low tide - along the Jurassic Coast.
I recently went there myself and found a vertebrae of an ichthyosaur also I found a broken larvikite rock which is really sparkly under light's I love it down there.
That’s a successful trip then fossil hunting - well done . The mineral is usually from the more recent sea defence work, other times it was used as ships ballast in the old sail ships . Larvakite can polish up really well I have tried doing that with some of the pieces
Nice to get a bit of geology in, also interesting info on Mary Anning, well done!
Thanks very much indeed MIke . It was absolutely like a proper spring day out on the beach today ! I hope you enjoyed the sun at West Bat today
Wonders, wonders! These tiny ammonites are absolutely beautiful. Congratulations, great video. Greetings from Poland 👋
Thanks very much, we had a nice sunny ☀️ Spring day here today. I wish you all the best for Springtime 🌱
Excellent Brandon. Thoroughly enjoyable.👍
Thanks very much for that. I was happy I managed to clip that calcite ammonite out of the rock 🪨 and it was pretty perfect 🍀🌀

ironic that they went directly under the cliff to prop that sign up 😃😄

used to find beautiful green Ammonites at a disused clay pit at Small Dole sussex
That sounds like the nacre they have on the outside of them sometimes when preserved really well
