Unrelated comment ... You are wise to dry process you BGA chips in in your "Ball mill" ... I have used mine for wet tumbling rocks ... The tub leaks out the center post and it rusted the center post ... So ya stay dry
I'm wondering have you tried using only 4 packets of Gelatin? I saw another youtuber that used only two with pretty much the same recipe as yours (Not sure how hard the one's he made were in the end however). I'm wondering if 8 packets is overkill? If we even 1/2 the gelatin (4 packets) and it gets hard enough, it may be worth the savings? Have you tried it?
Does this result in a lot of seed debris on the ground like loose seed does? The store bought suet cakes do not leave a big mess and I would love a diy version that also keeps things tidy.
Thank you for this video!
Thank you for posting. The bird store in my town charges $35 for one of these seed cylinders, which I think is way too much.
That's good, birds are my favourite animal. My son hand feeds our local magpies. 👍🦜
I'm getting ready to make some with hot sauce and cayenne pepper to keep squirrels and raccoons away , also beef lard and peanut butter.
Thank you SO much! I've tried several recipes with poor luck. I didn't know NOT to boil the gelatin mixture.
Thanks
super! thank you for the video!
May I recommend a stock pot for mixing to lessen the mess.

Great vid. How much would you say your saving$$$
These cost me less than 1/3 of purchasing cylinders. I get seed cheap in bulk at the local feed store.
I would use coconut oil instead of olive oil. Healthier for the birds.
Get pieces of 4" diameter of PVC pipe to use instead of taping and oiling up everything. Just line the pipe with wax or parchment paper and done! 😊😊
Are these rain proof?
Do u cook for your cats
How much pepper would you put int this recipe

These are NOT suet cakes - no lard or peanutbutter when making SEED CYLINDERS. 2 different products!!
Can cylindèrs air dry. I dont have a fan.
Maybe in very dry conditions. If they aren't dried quickly the seeds may sprout and mold.
@@omegageek64can I put them by an electric fireplace to dry out after the refrigeration
@@elisamarro7356 I've never tried that. Let me know how it goes.
How many grams per pack gelatin?
