Great car, I knew someone back in the seventies that had a blue '74 with white stripe and the so cool Levi's interior upholstry package - id love to have one of those today.
I am glad it is still an AMC 401 motor!
Not an AMC fan myself, but I totally respect the level of attention to detail on this car. Nice job.
Wuz I a rich man... what an absolute beauty! Miss my 304 '73 GremlinX 40 years later, such fun! TYVM for this old post guys, years late but its okay eh :) Good vid too, kudos :)
this is sheer INSANITY ! i can only remotely imagine what it must be like to have 500+ ponies and the monstrous low end torque from an American V8 in a tiny subcompact car like that Gremlin!
I love these old cars. Easy to work on no computer crap in them. I take a old car over a new one any day
I still have my 1970 amc ambassador.
I ordered a 74 X package 304 V8, 3 speed manual. Was a lot of fun:)
...an XR 401 in Gremlin X clothing....yaassss!!!
If only I had the money, that AMC Gremlin X would be in my garage! lol =D
About 3 years ago i sold my 77 Pacer Woody Wagon, with 40k miles, that I got out of a mesuem in Canada, all original in autum red, the car has won many trophys. I also had a restored 68 Rambler Rogue 2 Dr. ht. Red and white vinyal top, a very rare car, sold to a retired AMC Dealer in Vermont..
Excellent sales presentation.
I have to say Im impressed,I have a 1980 amc spirit with a ass kicking 350 chevy and munice 4 speed but seems to be on the mild side compared to this car,i figure she's cranking out 400 hp and is like riding a big motorcycle for sure, haha,,this 350 is bored 40 over with double hump heads and 750 cfm quad, mild cam and aluminum intake and 12 bolt rearend,,polished valves and malory ignition and talk about fun kicking the ass of cars that never expected to happen what happened,,a sleeper for sure.
16 years old + 500 horsepower + 70/30 balance + 2500 pounds is not a good plan regardless of how perfect it looks to you. Even a top racer with decades of experience would be challenged to keep this rocket-sled from crashing. My friend ---- back-in-the-day musclecars were wrecked at an insane rate because kids had no clue how to control them.
Tony,
I'll bet Jeff can't wait to get his hands on that baby!
Beautiful car gremlin
I would love to own that
I wish I still had my 74 V8 red gremlin! That car could really smoke 'em! Mine was not an X, and had prettier stripes.
Sweet, the LEGENDARY Bricklin.
I heard those Gremlins were trash back in the day.Thats probably why Tony said at the beginning of the video "Don't say anything just watch the video and say whatever you want afterwards".Lol 😂He knows the truth!
I had a 76 grem it was just the basic and it was red but now this one love it and the way it sounds the 401 is perfect id buy and own this again better to work on the old cars are the best this new shit with the pc crap can go somewhere older the better
Wow, thats a real mosta
Badd AZZ I want it!
I need that car...! 😖😖💖💖
Beautiful
The Bricklin was the only Canadian Car Company. They were built in New Brunswick. Don't say much the company shut down with 2 years of production selling a car for $5,000 that cost $16,000 to build.
My first car was a 74 gremlinx that had a vb 401 installed by dealer I bought it used when I was 14 for a thousand dollars my friends thought I was crazy until they rode in it then they loved it
I had the first Javelin in the county in Nov. 1967, and have owned 25 Amc cars including 6 Hudsons and 3 Nashes, but never a Gremlin, but anyone that ever owned one speak fondly of them. My father was an AMC Dealer to 1970. I'm 71 years old and would kill myself with 500 hp in this Gremmie. I just sold a 78- 114" w/b Matador coupe with a 360 and 9" rear end, w/ only 39k miles and a trophy winner. I presently have a 16k mile, 2004 Chevrolet SSR p- up Conv.
I own a 71 Gremlin with a 304, ( originally a 232) a 71 Javelin with a 304 and a 74 Javelin with a 360. And no, they're not for sale.
frame off resto? they dont have a frame the car is the frame awsome little car
I had a '74 Gremlin X, 235/ 3 Spd... stalled out when i drove through big water puddles.Upgraded to a '57 Chevy Wagon 350/ Turbo 350, better chick magnet ride...
i heard they could idle first gear @10-25 mph
Still for sale?
Unfortunately, no. You can see our current inventory list at: www.flemingsultimategarage.com/vehicles
I could see this old man wound around a tree with all that horse power!
I would drive the hell out that gremmy.
Yeah, I said gremmy. lol
and i thought that was a made up name for a spoof car..LMAOOO
FYI, this car does not have Power Brakes
Yea I paused when he said that; I don't see no vacuum booster behind that master?!
If it has a/c, ill take it
notice the dent and surface rust on the gas tank too.
That car is a Unibody car ! Did they put a Sub Frame on it ? if not that car will twist !
Hey Rob, This Car sold back in 2010 after we did a full Resto, Including Subframe. Not our first Rodeo :D
Chick magnet?
I had a 72 V8 Grimlin X. Loved driving it. Sold it with 4 small kids, It didn't fit any more. Been kicking myself in the ass every since. Should have just gotten rid of the wife instead🤔😂😂😂😂
Yeah that’s my dream car and I know I can’t afford it
oK SO its got a Ford 9inch with "posi" and a Detroit locker... I guess that's worth the 50K all by itself.
@ThaRealGecko I know. It was only a joke. :)
I would trade my nice 16k mile, Black, loaded, 2004 Chev, SSR Sport Conv., P-up for a 70 AMX any day, but no bad green or bad blue orange ok.
Would this really be called a "restoration," since it has all of these modifications?
Nope, it's a restomod
@YTman28 well... another lol for that :D
@Ereyner426 holy shit really? well, thanks for letting me know though.
@YTman28 dude ur not gotting a gremlim x that had 50k spent on it and 500 hp as ur first car hate to break it to ya.
Was this Donnies Gremlin?
Err... Is it still for sale? 😰😰💖💖
(Jk. I can see this video was posted 11 years ago, so I assume it's not. 😂😂😭😭)
That's a sweet car but I would rather have power brakes then power steering and A/C
NOT 500 horse power! These motors explode around 450 horse power! Another seat of the pants dyno!
Why would someone spend over 50,000 on a 1974 gremlin they must be crazy I love gremlins but I would only spend 10,000 at most
It's not uncommon at all for people to spend more on car than they can sale it for, they may never intend on saleing it but you know how that goes. Another reason it's usually better to buy one already built.
@YTman28 Y don't u not put pointless comments if u already know what the answer will be
frame of restoration? better spend time restoring any other amercian classic but not a Pacer! please!
i have two amc hornet in good conditions and they run fantasticly on highway- and for the time being they have proved that they are really car - coz they are stronger than the car that are being made nowaday that when the wing blows they bend with the wings ha ha hahahahaha. or with a little smash they become pure shit . and they end up doing nothin-
i wunt that one
Ugghhhhh, restomods....
And what cars were Canada made? I'm not talking about American, German, or Japanese cars built in Canada either, ones that were original to Canadian companies.
That's what I thought. When your Socialist country actually designs and builds cars, then you can speak.
Awful choice of wheels, better suited to a lowrider. Gremlin = keep it old school
It's a half car. 😂kkkkkkkk
All that lettering on the back comes right off first thing, & some sleeper looking wheels.
