Useful for Aroaces to know is that the split model i in itself a simplification. There is also intellectual attraction, emotional attraction, aesthetic attraction and sensual (hugs n' snugs) attraction, among others!
Thank you for this video, it really helped clarify some things I've been wondering about myself. I'm in a relationship right now but I started questioning if I'm aromantic recently. I've known for a time that I'm ace but it never occured to me I could be in the aromantic spectrum as well. I've realized that my mentality for most of my relationships I have the mentality and approach of having a queer platonic relationship. I may love my partner but I don't think I'm in love with them. Most of the things we do, I see myself doing with any of my close friends and sometimes I find myself acting romantic not necessarily because I'm compelled to feel that way but because I know that it would make them feel happy. I'll have this conversation with my partner soon and tbh I'm expecting that this would most likely break us up but I'm starting to come to terms with it, no matter how painful it might be
I just went through a relationship that I unfortunately had to end because I was not feeling the same romantic attraction as my partner and I relate to your comment a lot. I wish you all the best
Omg I’m in exactly in the same situation. I don’t know what to do because I’m scary to conversation with my partner and I don’t know how my partner react at this.
We discussed this before (sort of)….it’s all messing with my head. Split attraction model offers new identifications to consider, but it’s all grey. I’m not sure that i need an identification, but even i had one, I probably wouldn’t do much with it.
You're absolutely allowed to just forgo labels entirely~ They're just there to help paraphrase people's feelings and desires. If you don't want to use it? That's totally fine
Ace Aro Gendervoid~ It took me a very long time to finally find and accept myself as this, because i /am/ in a romantic relationship, but it's very much a sort of exception for me. I never understood the idea of crushes growing up, and only ever talked about them because i thought i was SUPPOSED to have one. But it just never struck me as something pleasurable. When i HAVE had partners, it was always an accident and not something i went into looking for a partner with. Just friends that i developed other things for. I realize this might fit greyro or demiro better, but... honestly? It's such a RARE thing for me that i feel more comfortable with straight up aro. Plus, saying outright "aro" tends to give people a more clear idea that i have no interest in dating-- an issue i've had people try to push with demi :( . I have very deep feelings for my friends, and consider them my true family. I'm honestly so glad to see this stuff going around more.

I actually go over all that in my video on the SAM! I wanted to keep the explanation simple in this video.
@@SliceOfAce Glad to hear it!

You don't need to use the SAM if you don't want to. It's just there for people who do find it helpful!

Yay an aro video!
Oh, right... I am 100% aromantic. I'd even go to far as saying that romantic attraction is MORE difficult for me to understand than sexual attraction.
Aww, your cat suisui appeared. Can you do a cat video next time?
I already have!
