Great presentation by a person who has done his home work and knows what he likes.
There is something about the atmosphere in this house, it is very good. Thank you Russ and Thomas.
This is what I am talking about man, just speakers and gear! No lasers, no sand bags, no ancient relics, no spikes, no protractors, just speakers and gear. Very nice man, I really enjoyed the video. Those KLIPSCH I auditioned at local dealer, I was really surprised how good these speakers are.
Whats wrong with ancient relics! Lol.
@Club Soda They are hard to find, but are great.
The Illusion Of Choice - I heard them @ Kennedy HiFi and they sounded great.
For most people with dedicated listening postilions, its likely they will like spend as much time staring aimlessly at their hi fi as listening to it. How a system looks will never be as important as how it sounds, but looks are still quite important, imho. Irrespective of how this system sounds, I think I could happily sit in that listening chair for some time. This is a very tasteful and well designed set up given the small room dimensions. Like the aesthetic of the blue Zu speakers against the custom built cabinet, which is in itself, quite beautiful. The Unison Research amp is stunning. It just works. Congrats to Russ for a job well done. He sounds very proud of his set up, which is justified. Thanks to Thomas for sharing.
I like the presenter's perspective on the audiophile hobby. His priority is enjoying the music, not how well his room is treated or speaker placement. So long as he's happy with the sound, that's all that matters.
what a fine example of a confident and well rounded audiophile. I think this best represents what being an audiophile actually means. The notion that most audiophiles are seeking music playback to sound as if live is just not true for many and I suspect most. excellent video. Thanks!
Great video! It's so good to see just a normal man who listen to the music, not the equipment. And music system (quite good) is not the center of home but just one of things for fun.
A very warm and intimate system...love the contrast between the blue Zu speakers and yellow tones of the cabinet...and the glow of tubes and vinyl add to the intimacy...the dining room system keeps the music pumping, and the finish of those Omegas match the decor nicely...at the end of the day, it is about the shear joy of listening to some beautiful music.
Well said!
beautiful cabinet. I really like the minimalism of your set up. The blue Zu speakers look amazing with it and I'll bet the sound is even better.
Excellent equipment "tour" and taking a look inside the Leben was an added bonus - thanks for sharing.
Beck Sea Change is a GREAT album. I love it. It's great to see it being shown in your picture.
I was about to say the same haha , Sea Change is a great record 😄 !
Great set up! All killer no filler. Just picked up a pair of Zu’s, can’t wait to give em a whirl.
Love your systems. They are clean and very well thought out. Really like that you swap out your speakers to “keep it fresh”. Great idea!
Beautiful system and love the clean tasteful look of the apartment. It’s almost as if the speakers look was made for the rooms
Beautiful system! Russ is very discerning and knows what he wants from a stereo system. I agree that simple can be better. Thank you for an informative and well done presentation.
Hey Thomas! Love that system. I would love to that system a listen to! I really like that cabinet. I have not got to hear any Zu speakers, would really like to. Love the choice of speakers, I swap speakers every once in a while also. Thank You much for the tour!
Beautiful systems! Loved Russ's aesthetic choices and his photography. Thanks!
Me too!
Multiple listening rooms is really the only way to satisfy serious audiophiles. You will always find speakers that have different sound characteristics that appeal to you, but cant cant settle for one over the other.
Much better off buying amplifier with tone controls.
Really nice video Thomas to highlight a fans system. Hearing Russ' thoughtful descriptions of his reasoning and history of his system in a storylike manner was very interesting and insightful. Fantastic work by both!
Thanks for pointing out this is a hobby and it’s for enjoyment. Only positive comments and sharing in the joy of high quality listening. Love the choices he made , the description of his experience. The custom cabinet is the bomb!
I agree with his thought process >>>> Simplicity Rules !!!
You've inspired me to build a second system for my bedroom!
Loving the positivity of this channel and even more so loving those Zus. $ per $ such a great quality speaker.
Much appreciated!
Thomas, i can't say enough about this format. Video's like this one are inspiring. Cheers.
Ah Thomas, I loved this video by Russ. I really dig his system and philosophy. I hope to get there someday. I am a newbie still, and I am just plain stuck at where to go and how to go, but your friend has given me some really good ideas. I love the idea of supporting the "lesser" known suppliers. I just demoed the Fyne F502 speakers ( an new and somewhat small company ) and the Klipsch Forte III and Hersey IV. I know Klipsch isn't a small company. I went to the demo with a check and ready to buy the Fyne, but Holy Moly, those Klipsch really showed a great fight, especially the Forte. I am now just so torn between which to get. The Fyne are far more transparent and detailed, but man the mids on the Forte in particular are man...sweet.
Love of music is a gift to a mans who fell a different sensation to the tunes
t bgdddrw
Great simple setup man. Like the fact you've paid attention to the overall look. That's important in my eyes. Christine and the queen's is also a great record. She produces all her own work to audiophile quality.
Great video on your friends systems. Again I like your friend's thinking, openness on what he wants from a hifi system. Beautiful apartment too!👍😊
I really like this system. Neat and compact. It must have a fun sound.
Beautiful setup, Love the simplicity, I totally relate. Thanks again Thomas and Russ!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm so jealous of the seat in your main listening room. Man this looks comfy...
Dig it. Cheers from the South Carolina Lowcountry
Thanks for sharing. That blue, superb! really nice looking space.
My pleasure!
Unison Research makes awesome sounding gear
Isn't it funny how we can be in a car with a no frills audio system and listen to our favorite CD, or cassette for older models and have a great time riding down the road and enjoying some good tunes and for hours. We start singing along and making our own percussion sounds on our legs or even the steering wheel. All is well and we have a great time......
THEN, we come home to our assortment of amps, preamps, cables, DAC's, vinyl players, cartridges and more cables, CD transports, reel to reel decks and did I say cables.... And we waste, so much time trying to micro-analyze every nuance in the music.
We wonder if we should play with the bias on our amps or sand fill our tonearm, what about a bigger power conditioner and what about more line filtering did I mention cables.....
IT'S INSANE....
We had it right when we were bee-bopping down the road listening to James Taylor or Eric Clapton or you fill in the blank and playing our air guitar at the stop lights.
This guy has it RIGHT.. He listens to his music because he LIKES THE MUSIC. He has some DECENT equipment which enhances his love for his music selection while the rest of us are trying how to scrounge up another $2K for the next wizbang audio gadget.
Not saying tweaks and upgrades are not important, they are but at the same time, we should make an effort to actually listen and enjoy the artist we love.
I love his line were he said he listens to music everyday and all day.
Without a drag strip, what good is a million dollar dragster??? Ok, maybe not the best analogy but...
I give this guy a strong C for his audio setup which is equipment, room, room acoustics etc but I give him an A+++ for the primary objective of enjoying the tunes. Final score is a pleasant A+
We could ALL learn something here... ATTABOY !!
I really like your set up. Great use of available space. Love the custom cabinet w/albums and gear. I dig on those Omegas
Very nice listening environment, I like that there are no cables visible. I take this video as inspiration to tidy up my two systems. Even if it sounds good, if it looks good, you enjoy it more.
Go for it!
I can totally relate to this fellow's philosophy pertaining to music listening. That is a lovely apartment and that custom cabinet is sweet! Just yesterday I placed an order for a pair of Zu DW6 speakers, and although that Electric Blue color was what initially caught my eye, I decided to go with the Black Starlight. I have a Yamaha A-S3200 integrated amp and CD-S2100 cd player that are silver faced with black lacquered side plates, and a TEAC TN-5BB turntable that has a black lacquered frame with synthetic marble plinth that has tiny flecks of sparkle imbedded. Visually this should integrate better in my small living room. Great video!
Thank you, Russ and Thomas. I enjoyed looking at your music system.
Glad you enjoyed it
I must say I admire this guys take on things.
I think the Klipsch goes better with cabinet, but the Zu’s look really cool, love the electric blue finish. Would really like to see what the Zu’s have to offer in the way of sound.
Huw chardon where I live, there’s no places that stock Zu speakers, so it’s hard for me to audition them. Just looked up the Zu Omen bookshelf speakers, and they are very pricey at $2595.00AUD. Would love to hear them though!
@@benkrake3678 unfortunately Zu only sells direct, so you won't be seeing them in any showrooms. That's one way they provide more speaker for the money.
Besides the sophisticated complexity of the gears and flat, I really liked the production quality of the video.
Thanks, took me many hours to edit.
@@ThomasAndStereo Was an excellent editing, love the way you incorporated the photos. What software do you use for editing?
WOW, Russ! GREAT vid…your shots and narration were just FANTASTIC! You have it right…we should all just be having fun. I like your very thought-out approach and the purchases you have made regarding your guides for a system. It's a lot different than mine…I have two systems one low-wattage and one very high wattage. Would love to hear those Zu Speakers on my low wattage system…oh…yeah…or some Tektons. Thanks soooooo much for taking a lot of your time to share that with us!
wonderful sharing. .loved it. love the focus on what works for him. the second system was a nice surprise as well. thank you for sharing and posting.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thomas et all,I know this is a really olde video, but I really like that first stereo table in this first room. Doc BC
What a great idea for a channel. Love all the Zu speakers. 👍
Congratulations, Russ. Fantastic episode.
Many thanks!
Great system and great job on the video! Love the idea of being able to share w/o the peanut gallery! Keep up the good work Thomas!
Thanks! Will do!
Simple and boring is what makes a great sound system. i love the set-up, great job!
Very cool system! Love the 50s style with the colors and blue Zus!
Great system because you really know what it is that you want - you Can be happy when you can sort out the things that you don't actually need from the things that are most important to You!
Thanks - You have beautiful modernist furniture and audio gear. I like the colors if you custom cabinet with the Zu loudspeakers.
Thank you Russ for sharing! You have some nice gear, and the set up looks great. I'm always tempted to get a higher power amp, but you seem to be the type of person who knows what you really like.
Love your approach to being an audiophile.. resonates with me ..cool video
I've seen Russ's system on Instagram before nice to see it on the video.
Great video, being in the UK its very interesting to see the very different manufacturers we don't really see over here.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for posting vids like this where average guys' can showcase their systems & opinions.
That colour combo just works!
Thomas you should encourage this guy to have his own channel, he certainly knows how to carry himself both in terms of dialogue/monologue and camera panning and tracking and the like.
Ah, what you don't see is the hours I spent editing the whole video with photos I took from his Instagram. The point is it is very hard to make a UA-cam channel but He definitely is very good at talking and I actually made a video with him. Check out my Omega Rs8 video.
Cool simple approach.
Lesson well presented😊
Beautiful systems , beautiful dig ! Don't forget the tiger maple turntable base !! thank you …….
I really like your taste of furniture! Nice systems aswell!
Nice system Russ and I need to just relax and enjoy my system instead of always changing and overloaded my brain ......I’m a vinyl guy too . Never heard the ZU before but sure they sound good. Keep on spinning
hi, laScala, trans-scriptor and amcron ic/dc 300, old style. and also some b&o, a sound I love very much...nice hobby, nice video, tanx
excellent video. always interesting to see another enthusiast's gear and some of the reasoning behind it. the zu dirty weekends really intrigue me. would love to hear them with my vintage equipment. well done.
Nice video and system. Well done Thomas and Russ!
Thanks for the visit
Great video, and you put thought into what equipment you wanted. I could see the Klipsch being problematic in such a small space (and I didn’t hear how away your listening position was), and that they’re normally firing up at you from ground level. I’ve read a few reviews where people get them up high on stands, then they need a subwoofer, which takes up even more space in a tiny room.
Love the concept of this video, always a great channel to watch... I am in love with those electric blue weekends, simple is awesome
Couldn't agree more!
nice set up, must be a very tasteful and experienced owner. Hope have a chance to listen to.
Very nice systems! I'd love to hear those poppies
Great video Russ...most reviewers use similar adjectives to describe the Klipsch and Zu speakers...could expand on / compare and contrast your 3 sets of speakers...Thanks
looks awesome. i would want something exactly like this in my room
Great systems and great lighting in the house.
Such a pleasure to watch! Good work to both of you...
Really nice video, like your perspective very much. Thanks for sharing...
that guy really knows how to enjoy true music listening experience without being paranoid into something.
I love the systems and the chair!
Very beautifull system. Enjoy. I like the Zu''s
Both of his systems look awesome 🙂
great video thomas and russ.i fully agree with integrated amp route.i think integrated amp makes the most sense in systems atleast upto 30k.saves cable costs and unwanted headache to figure out the cable synergy.
Cool stuff 👍. Lot's of quality goodness 👌. Would love to do something similar. Congrats and enjoy.
You should!
Nice to see systems that an average Joe audio enthusiast can afford. It makes me sad to see manufacturers cater only to the rich. I am shocked when I watch reviews of major audio shows that show equipment taken to extremes so that no one but the rich can afford. It’s all about “mine is bigger and better and more expensive than yours. “ Thank you from we 99 percenters that struggle daily to pay for a roof, food, and other necessities.
Really great video . He needs a cyrus amp or amps. They would push the larger speakers much better and are smaller amp ,much more full song.
I'm very, very happy with mine , I have the dmx ZU and monitor audoi god for upstairs .
Beautiful setup!
Nice gear! I'm also local to greater Montreal and have the same philosophy, music first with low watt tube gear, high efficiency speakers, vinyl as primary source material and streaming for casual listening.
Awesome, you are more than welcome to drop by some time!
DM me on Instagram if you like :)
@@RussThayer likewise friend! Heading to my house on the east coast for the summer but maybe in the fall if big brother Legault deems we are allowed to gather!
Just bought Magnepan Lrs ,, dirty weekend I want next,,, nice clean system 👍
Nice 👍
Fantastic. Now I want a different system.
Was hoping to hear on Zu and Klipsch compairson as video title suggested. Instead turned out to be just a tour of house.
Cool. Another Montreal buddy audiophile
Definately prefer the simplicity of integrated amps myself. Dig the color of the Zu's.
Thomas, your friend has very good taste.
I think so too!
Cool video!
Excellent tour!
Thank you!
please more of private setups like this👍
Great looking setup 👌 instagram worthy
I hope I never catch "audiophile disease" where I find myself buying music solely based on the quality of the recording engineering and how it shows off my system
If you are on this channel..too late :)🤣🤣🤣
@@ThomasAndStereo Right on LOL
I've gone crazy with all kinds of high end gear, but, God, i can never buy a lousy artist's music (crap i don't click with!) just because the recording quality is good. Absolutely not. That is where i draw the line. I will make a serious attempt to get the best possible lossless flac or quality press for artists i like.
@@ThomasAndStereo Here I am!
I prefer to call it "musical appreciation". My mindset has changed dramatically on what good music has become.
Beautiful system.

No need to give a lot but if we can all chip in even $1, it will make a difference. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Those Klipsh should be put on stands. They really do perform better on stands.
@@gnd144 I would say yes but put them on on inch thick board first projecting about a 8" only in front, to reinforce the boundary for the bass
I've always owned klipsch speakers since I was 18.. my first pair was the klipsch forte ..then i went up from there..chorus..Cornwall..lascala's...then the top dog..the k-horn... an owned a few amps..marantz..NAD.. ADCOM..pioneer spec 2 pioneer. Marantz an kenwood turntable... the kenwood turn table was really nice it was marble..sweet.. I love audio I always have an ways will...
Lovely ! Cheers to my Montrealer!
