They do have a program through Medicaid called “Community First Choice”. You go through an agency, but they will pay a parent who is taking care of a disabled adult child. They evaluate the person and decide the number of hours per week of care that is needed. You do have to pay federal income taxes on your pay.

I love this Faye!! Again, for those that may become disabled themselves oneday, the pay of the premiums via those federal FICA tax (they probably do not earn enough to pay FED INCOME tax, at least not until the tax cuts of 2017, may be forced to expire, depending on how the election goes - it will definitely expire if one party is elected and definitely will NOT expire if the other :) So there are things to think about aside from our preference for broccoli over carrots :)
Does your CFC also pay, say, grown child caring for senior parent who needs care? I hope so! Thank you so MUCH for sharing this about YOUR location. Mind you, Medicaid is LOCAL so this would not be available everywhere. Where are you generally located?

@@AllThingsSocialSecurity I’m in the state of Texas. I don’t know if it will pay for the care of a senior citizen. It is NOT dependent on the family’s income. Anyone can Google “Community First Choice” and see if they can get into this program. It is through Medicaid and Molina Healthcare or Superior healthcare which anyone through Medicaid probably has. We still have our son on private insurance too. Not to get political but factually we had this through both Democrat presidents and Trump’s presidency. If we pay for every illegal, then yes, there is a limit to money and we will run out of it.

@@fayejordan175 Thank you for that generous share. And I agree with you on the POLICY issue you mention.

@@AllThingsSocialSecurityOne thing I will add is that Trump has said that if he is elected there will be no tax on social security. That is something that will help many average Americans. I personally would love that!

@@fayejordan175 Yes, I believe he has supported no tax on SS.
Mind you, most SS people don't pay federal income tax on SS anyway.
But, those that don't relay solely on SS, or make more than the average SS, or are a couple with both pulling in SS, DO have to pay tax on SOME of it. The range is 0% is taxed if.... under a certain combined income, (pretty poor in todays times) then up to 50% of it can be taxed for combined incomes at another range, and then when you are loaded :), up to 85 % of the SS income can be federally taxed, presumably at your regular federal income tax rate.
I will say that the TX law of 2017, under DT, also helped b/c each person got to exclude up to 12k (now even higher) before any fed tax generally, a doubling of that standard deduction. I do hope that Tax Law is not allowed to expire if it is set to with the other parts. Adding another 13-14k to taxable income will be very painful.
