I’m 78 and have painted since about 10. I’ve had no professional training so I just loved this video, it has taught me so much. I hope to continue my painting until I take my last breath and will continue to watch your videos. Thank you so much.
I have never understood how to use acrylics until your video. I am an oil painter and had no idea that you could glaze and layer paint this way! Wow! You have so inspired me to want to try acrylics again! Thank you!
I’m so sorry, I accidentally hit the thumbs down icon. Why would I or anyone in their right mind give you a thumbs downs when you do such brilliant work like this. Only the very best of high praises for you. Amazing 👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️
Your glazing technique using layers and the layers in the iris of the eyes! ❤ It all comes back around to patience and details. Thank you for your fabulous videos.
Fantastic thank you. Always wanted to know how to create realistic eyes and esp reflections that really make it stand out so vividly. Keep up the good work and i will be watching all your videos. Thanks again Tony Hill
I heard of glazing but never realized that it makes acrylic look so good! I will definitely try it the next time I'm using acrylics! Thanks for all the great tips!
Always appreciate full real time tutorials. And Hey, could you please, provide the reference photo you used?. I find tutorials with reference photo very helpful because you don't just watch someone paint and try to replicate them, you also learn why they do what they do and you start to pick up ways to interpret the references and how to translate them into the painting. Which you can't do if there is no reference even though there's a lot of good tips already.
Hi I had to sit and watch all of this in one go I just couldn’t stop myself. The two main things for me were the glazing advice and the eye. Each time you added a detail I was entranced, and that reflection was amazing I have never seen that before 😮. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us 🥰
I just found your painting tutorials. I’ve been painting for 30 years and no one has ever shown me how to do fur like you did .. it was absolutely amazing. I just love it and I love your kingfisher bird and all the videos I’ve watched thus far.
The tip I found most interesting is the way that you put in the layers upon layers in the eye build up and the stands of stray hairs at the end never thought of doing those. Thank you for showing these tips
I just discovered your channel after painting for 51 yrs. I cannot believe the 'ah ha' moment I had with this Tiger's eye. The layering and glazing... the effect was outstanding!!! I cannot wait to try it! You are awesome and a GREAT instructor.
Glazing!!! It’s incredible watching the painting be built up layer by layer, and then glazed to reach the right color and and shift the value little amounts at a time. Thank you for sharing! I also really appreciate you naming each color as you mix them.
Wow, the way you make the eye come to life, is amazing. I will definitely be using those glazing techniques. hopefully I can get somewhere near your level. amazing watching the painting come to life. all the best, and thanks for the lesson.
First time watching. My husband and I are retired and are going to watch a video a night just for the meditation value; when the Leafs aren't playing that is! Nice to find you🫠
The tip I appreciated the most pertained to the eye itself - the note to add slightly lighter-colored, wispy marks radiating out from the pupil, then slightly darker-colored marks radiating out from the lighter layer, surrounded by the lightest-colored lines radiating out into the bottom of the eye. Most of the color changes are quite subtle but the contrast and depth really pull the viewer straight to the pupil, even that part of the eye is in shadow! I used to really struggle with big cat eyes in the past, so this sincerely helps. I absolutely love this piece, thank you so much for sharing this tutorial! ❤
Not fully done watching yet, but just finished watching you doing the details in the eye and I am blown away!! Also, now confident that I can achieve this as well and am grateful for discovering glazing (through your channel and others who also paint wildlife). Glazing has been such a game changer for me and I feel so much more confident that I can always go back and 'fix' things.
Fantastic! The best tip for me was you saying it will get worse before it gets better. It has inspired me to try painting again and to not give up so readily. Excellent tutorial.
Great video! The tip that helped me the most was the use of a variety of brushes to get the desired effect. Same fur, but different brushes to give the impression of realism. Fantastic!
Incredible talent!! The tip I found most useful is the layering. So many, many colors to ultimately reach the realistic orange and white of a tiger. Fantastic job! ❤
I've watched this video several times now and I have to say that the most impactful thing for me has been the tip you gave on reflections in the eyes. Such a little thing but makes a huge difference. Thank you so much for sharing your work with us!
The colour depth of the eye and the precise reflections are my favourite, I've never known about glazing in painting, but I'm going to start doing it..😊
A captivating image and a beautiful result. Acknowledging that there are awkward stages when developing an image, and just to watch this video as you just keep going past that stage is the most instructive tip for me. Thank you for sharing your experience and the working process in real time.
Beautiful work! The tip I found most helpful is the focus on shadow work (both glazing and detailing) to create layers and depth to the fur, and that light detailing can be less prominent in comparison but still be effective.
My favorite tip was putting shadow at the top of the eye and light at the bottom of the eye. You mentioned you do this despite what the lighting looks like in the reference photo. It makes the eye come to life and more realistic. I think the eyes are one of the most important features and it’s what grabs peoples attention. I’ll be trying this in my next painting
Just started this art journey need to destress, but nothing special just a spooky the cat and now finishing of mr moon. I never knew there was so many rinse and repeats (layers) to painting beautiful animal art, especially fur; now I have a better understanding why, and a deeper appreciation of patience. Thanks Daniel for the hard work you do as an artist, and your YT channel 😊
Fantastic work as usual Daniel, thank you so much for sharing your process. I found your emphasis on adding randomness to the paint strokes to be a great reminder not to lose focus on achieving a natural looking line. Especially while getting bogged down with the repetitive, almost mechanical, process of laying so down many strokes! Being relatively new to acrylics I was also amazed at the effectiveness of placing the initial fur strokes in white and then colour glazing/washing them! WOW… so darn effective! Far too many people out there still suggest that acrylics are no good for glazing. Thank you once again.
I enjoyed the glazing techniques you used in this video. Thank you for sharing all the techniques in real time. Super helpful! What an impressive talent you have.
The tip I found most useful is about the highlights in the eye and how it's not just blobs but actually captures the surroundings such as the trees and the sky
I've always drawn pictures with pencils and ink. I tried painting a few times and been very discouraged by it. Watching your process makes me feel encouraged to try again. Thank you.
I love all the attention to the little details that bring a nice sense of realism to the painting. Thanks for the sharing your techniques, very inspirational.
You gave lots of great tips here, but the final random strokes in very light and very dark colors is one I will add to all my future wildlife paintings.
I love your video's, easy to follow especially for a beginner such as myself. The most helpful tip ? Well all of them but I must say it is wonderful how you take your time and go into detail and allow us to stop and understand. So much to learn !!!!
Absolutely amazing ! I have collected plenty of tigers photos to start animal painting but never could do. I am 77 and too late to start acrylic painting. However , I enjoy watching your work.
I've struggled with getting white paint to show up over a darker background. Your video showed me how you gradually build up a lighter base using blues, ochres and yellows to make different shades of gray and then keep layering with lighter and lighter shades. This makes your highlights pop and seem very realistic. I'm a little intimidated to try this tutorial right now, but hope to build up some more experience and then give it a go. Thanks so much for posting this video. It was very helpful!
All the little detail in the eye as well as the way the glazing adds that extra touch of detail in the shadows and highlights was extremely helpful to see. Thank you so much for showing us this! I'm inspired!
Thankyou for sharing this video. As a pastel artist I have been looking for an acrylic colour mixing step by step such as this for ages. I loved seeing you use your finger to blend once or twice. It's a bad pastel habit I have. The most important tip I've learnt from this was the glazing process to build the layers. Looks like I need to find more hours in my day to watch all your videos :)
A w e s o m e talent. Thanks for sharing. I've only been painting a short time and I learned so much by watching pros such as yourself. I am especially impressed by your use of subtle color transition. You made all those tiny hairs look so real.
The way you made the final highlights was the most helpful tip for me. I've never done that this way... For sure I will try this technique! The fur looks fantastic as always! It is always my favorite part of painting when some of the first fur is painted and then glazing gives it so much color and just blends everything together so well.
hello, i am at 1/3 of your video, i did not expect to find quality tutorial for acrylic paint on youtube. Have to say that you are the first tutorial that i see, but up to now, i am amazed of the way you explain and the way you structure the layers. Still 2/3 to go. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve only just found you kind sir and I think I can honestly say that I’ve never learnt sooo much from one tutorial, thank you very kindly for sharing your time and expertise in such an in-depth and user friendly manner, many, many thanks 🙏🏻
This is amazing to watch. I have done a couple of animal pieces for family and friends and really struggled with fur textures and colouring. Watching your videos has been a great help, not only with the way you explain things but also showing close ups of your work so we can see the actual shapes and detail of your brush work. I think the best tip for me has been to not skimp on the layers, and try glazing. I tried your technique on a very simple cat silhouette and I was so proud of the result I can’t wait to try on a more complex piece 😊
absolutely fascinating - thank you so much - Im a student and mid -tiger oil painting... your instructions for the hair and eye will be so useful as I render the final stages.
Wow, it amazes me how you put layer on layer and first I think that noone actually will see the underneath colour of it, but in the end it really makes the difference! ❤ how amazing someone will have this under the Christmas tree in a few weeks! I would totally freak out!!! 😮😅😊
I have been a watercolour painter for years. But I love the richness, and depth of colour that you have got, with acrylics. And most of all you have somehow made the painting alive with the colour contracting fine hairs. You have inspired me to have a go in acrylics, thank you 🙏 ❤
I find it so clever how you create the realism in the eye by putting a wash or glaze of watered down acrylic over the fine lines in the iris to maintain the colour of the iris, but not lose those details. I’ve never thought to try that and have always had that hurdle of struggling to keep the overall iris colour correct while trying to create those detailed contrasting lines. Truly incredible work! Thank you so much for the video, incredibly insightful and look forward to watching more
i love your back-and-forth color variations, but what was most helpful was the way you do your reflection in the eye! the blues, whites, and purple make the eye just come to life. no white for me! i also love all the layers you do in your fur constantly reinforcing the tone and glazing to create such life like detail. thank you. you are truly a master of your craft. your brother artist in Christ Tobias.
I just finished my level 1 in acrylic painting and your tutorial really inspired me alot. Will be starting level 2 next week and going to paint the lion face. I really the way you paint the eye. It's so real like the tiger is looking at me, not fierce but with so much emotion and compassion in it.
Wonderful tutorial! I think the most helpful tip for me is the glazing. Especially in the eye. You can use so many layers and get such beautiful depth and details all at the same time. Thank you for taking the time to do this for us! ☺️
Hello, I'm in the process of doing an acrylic painting of a monkey and was stuck on how to do the fir in layers. Your technique is a great idea. I will give it a try and let you know how it goes. My favorite part was the eye. I wasn't sure how you were going to get the lines to look realistic, but WOW!!! I was very impressed with the final look. Well done. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Seriously, it's like I'm watching a miracle, so magically special. Thank you for sharing your techniques. Even if I don't paint, it's awesome to see the process. My brain is perceiving two things at once; seeing a real tiger looking at me and reminding myself that I saw each stroke being made and it is a painting! Would love to ask a few questions, if you don't mind? Did you paint as a child? Do you still have your first painting? Can we see it or a tiger painting 10 years ago so we can see your progression, or were you always this good? Thanks!
I’ve learned a lot from you with all the wonderful tutorials you’ve created. Since I had learned a lot about the eye before, I would have to say I learned the most techniques with the fur this time seeing the colors you chose to actually see how much detail and layers you put into the fur. Thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing, I really struggle with fur and only get to the point of laying down the shadows and highlights. I then try to paint the strands of fur and like you said I am one of those that will paint the strands the same way. I definitely need to practise, but your video has given me the confidence to keep trying. Thank you again for another great video😊
I LOVED THIS. so hard to find a full length and real time tutorial for this time of painting. was soooo helpful the way you broke it down into steps - color blocking, then the eye, then emphasis on the fur. makes it so much easier to follow and encouraging to try. i’m SO happy i found your channel. thank you SO MUCH!!
I love you videos and paintings sooooo much!! I loved all the tips for fur and the eye was amazing.....biggest tip for me is layers, layerrs and more layers....I love how you kind of intuitively know what shades and colours to use and which layers to start on first....which is so hard for me to get my head around. Thank you!
I didn’t realise just the depth that can be achieved by layers and glazing, and adding details in a seemingly random way. The effect of the whole is breath taking. Having so many excellent tips throughout your process makes me believe I could achieve a believable animal too, especially the fur details.
Neither did i, so it was very inspirational watching him work with the eye. I really made i come alive! On my next monster art, im going to work hard on the eyes. :P
Lovely as usuele, We all learn so much from you, and in real time, this is so much fun, missing sleep and have early shift but it is just so fun to watch, satisfying. 🥰
what an amazing piece!! really helpful on how to paint the fur and adding the glazing over the lighter color. I am going to be waiting to see if I win this wonderfu piece of art!
Layering is a big problem for me, I never knew how to do it properly, so thank you so much for showing me! I hope this will make a world of difference for my paintings!
I found this so helpful as i have been struggling with fur. The glazing process was particularly helpful to get those blended colors without losing detail. I cant wait to practice❤
I really loved this video so much that I am inspired to get my acrylics out and try this amazing image. There were a couple of tips that I will embrace and that's not overusing water plus allowing layers to dry. I also loved seeing the effect of glazing and the way in which it knocks back some of the fur brush strokes without losing them. The star of the show for me though was the eye. Wow ! I loved seeing how you brought that to glassy wet life. Thanks for a great video.

Hi friend. If I may ask on a personal note. Just for interest sake. How long would it normally take you to complete a painting like this?
And how do you gaze
WAU ! you make me start painting again! can you write which (mark)quality acryllic colors do you use? thx!
Sir i need all these brushes.
How can i buy.?
I’m 78 and have painted since about 10. I’ve had no professional training so I just loved this video, it has taught me so much. I hope to continue my painting until I take my last breath and will continue to watch your videos. Thank you so much.

The same here!!!
Don't really have training for Art it's just how your skill is and how u progress over time.
I have never understood how to use acrylics until your video. I am an oil painter and had no idea that you could glaze and layer paint this way! Wow! You have so inspired me to want to try acrylics again! Thank you!
Layers, layers, layers, that's what I learned from this video. Thank you!
I’m so sorry, I accidentally hit the thumbs down icon. Why would I or anyone in their right mind give you a thumbs downs when you do such brilliant work like this. Only the very best of high praises for you. Amazing 👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️
Loll you know that you can tap the dislike button again and it will go away right
😅😅
How dare you
@@McKurdi I did do that and Maude the corrections 😢

Your glazing technique using layers and the layers in the iris of the eyes! ❤ It all comes back around to patience and details. Thank you for your fabulous videos.
Fantastic thank you. Always wanted to know how to create realistic eyes and esp reflections that really make it stand out so vividly. Keep up the good work and i will be watching all your videos.
Thanks again
Tony Hill
I heard of glazing but never realized that it makes acrylic look so good! I will definitely try it the next time I'm using acrylics! Thanks for all the great tips!
The best UA-cam channel to learn the tricks of paint wild animals 👏🏻

Same here,, because UA-cam I know how to draw realistic animal and many others,,, but that'all seems to late for me,, my age was 45 new😢
The way you described it is wonderful. ❤ I will try and see if I can paint like this or not 😅
You got it!! 👍
Many thanks for explaining about glazes. The final addition of the long loose hairs was very insightful.
The tip I found most interesting is the way that you put in the layers upon layers in the eye build up and the stands of stray hairs at the end never thought of doing those. Thank you for showing these tips
The glazing process is a super tip 👍
I like the transparency using layers in the eyes.
I just discovered your channel after painting for 51 yrs. I cannot believe the 'ah ha' moment I had with this Tiger's eye. The layering and glazing... the effect was outstanding!!! I cannot wait to try it! You are awesome and a GREAT instructor.
I love watching the glazing layers and enjoyed seeing your mixing process. Vibrant animal eyes are just the best!
Glazing!!! It’s incredible watching the painting be built up layer by layer, and then glazed to reach the right color and and shift the value little amounts at a time. Thank you for sharing! I also really appreciate you naming each color as you mix them.
Amazing work the eye brings the painting to life
Wow, the way you make the eye come to life, is amazing.
Nice to find you🫠
Glazing was the tip that stood out to me. I’m starting to wrap my head around that. Thanks so much!
Love it.. I found the glazing technique specifically helpful..thank you.
Hello , thanks for this excellent painting vidéo see you later my friend
That’s amazing tiger’s eye 👍🏻🐯
The tip I appreciated the most pertained to the eye itself - the note to add slightly lighter-colored, wispy marks radiating out from the pupil, then slightly darker-colored marks radiating out from the lighter layer, surrounded by the lightest-colored lines radiating out into the bottom of the eye. Such a beautiful piece! The most helpful tips were the glazing and shadowing of the eye !!!
Love this tutorial! my favourite tip is painting the fur with a light cream then glazing more accurate and rich colours on top!
Fantastic! The best tip for me was you saying it will get worse before it gets better.
It has inspired me to try painting again and to not give up so readily. Excellent tutorial.
I will definitely pick up my acrylics paints again after seeing this tutorial. This got me inspired again. Thank you!
Great video! The tip that helped me the most was the use of a variety of brushes to get the desired effect. Same fur, but different brushes to give the impression of realism. Fantastic!
Beautiful, I love how there is a picture within a picture with the tigers eye. It's so generous of you to share so much about your process and method.
The tip I found most useful was the depth of glazing over the lighter colour 😊 thank you
Most helpful video for beginners

I never knew there was so many rinse and repeats (layers) to painting beautiful animal art, especially fur; now I have a better understanding why, and a deeper appreciation of patience.
Thanks Daniel for the hard work you do as an artist, and your YT channel 😊
The tip I found most useful is the process of adding lighter color fur then glazing then repeat. The realism and depth it creates is so beautiful!
The most helpful idea I got out of this amazing video was the layering technique. Love your work!
I love this one. The multiple layers and glazing are such good advice. Lots of patients, but what a masterpiece.
Fantastic work as usual Daniel, thank you so much for sharing your process. Such a beautiful tiger!!!!❤❤❤❤
I just love how u did the fur, very impressive 😊
This process was simply AMAZING to watch. I am new and painting my Yorkie, and these techniques will help me greatly. Thank you. ❤

Wonderful tutorial! I think the most helpful tip for me is the glazing. Especially in the eye. You can use so many layers and get such beautiful depth and details all at the same time. Thank you for taking the time to do this for us! ☺️
You are truly THE artist ❤️

Fantastic detail - the tip I'm going to take away and try in my next piece is the layering detail via glazing.
Loved this progression. Thanks for sharing that piece!
This is the first time I’ve watched your video.
It was amazing and makes me want to give it a try !!!
Thank you for sharing your talent !!!
Have to try do this eye and see how close I can get an real artist ;) the beginning is always helpful!
