Let me know how in depth into this stuff you guys might be interested to explore! I always hesitate to dive too much into the details for fear of making it too complicated. But I think a lot of us here are musicians on some level, so maybe it could be fun to get into down the road!

    Imagine there's no tempo
    Its really hard to do
Nothing to play or feel for
    And no progression, too
    Imagine all the people
    Singing songs like ass
You, you may say that you sound good
But you are the only ones
I hope someday you'll take classes
And the world won't sound like shit
    Imagine no key changes
    I wonder if you can
No need for sharps or flats
    A sense of music theory
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing just one key
You, you may say that you sound good
But you are the only ones
I hope someday you will think straight
And the world won't sound like shit.

Me, an intellectual: 5 chord, sounds simple enough... What's the definition of key again and how do you tell which key they were singing in to start with?..
Also, how do you turn a note to a chord?
On a more serious note, this is really music 101 and it's not very reasonable to expect this kind of stuff explained. Chris got an amazing talent for harmonizing things and recognizing patterns though.

So I’m in school right now to be a music teacher, and I’ve never heard secondary dominants explained so simply before? This has helped me kind of rationalize how to teach this in the future, so thank you!! (and btw you made this sound soooo good and it made me very happy)

Tell me why I got an ad in front of the video that was literally a piano rendition of Imagine, I wasn’t watching at first while it played and I thought the actual video had started already I am astounded

I tried forcing myself to rewatch the original again and now I can't unhear Charles's godly accompaniment and... it upsets me. Because I actually like it now.

This was great! As someone who took a few years of piano lessons, and then sadly dropped off as life moved on, I understood mostly what you were doing, and it was really interesting and enjoyable.
