Greatest pickups out there. I've 4 Strats, all with different variations of Lace Sensors. 3 guitars are older with stock Laces, the latest a Rainbow Set I replaced my Fender N3s with.

The Alumitone pickups are great! Totally different design, but great sounding!

Love Lace pickups. I wish Fender put them in again and reissue the Plus series

Would love to see these as an option in their basses. I recently purchased a Jazz Player (MIM). The overall build quality is good but the passive pickups just seem somewhat flat and underwhelming, not much personality. I like older dimarzios for their bite and character, but these Alumitone pups have really got my curiosity piqued! They’re really striking!

Still loving the vintage "Get Loaded with Lace Pickguards" advertisement from several years ago.
Whoever did the wiring and soldering at 3:14 is incredible.

Great overview. I’m just rediscovering Lace pickups recently in a search for a drop-in replacements pups for a newly purchased Fender Jazz player bass, whose pickups leave a bit to be desired.
My previous Lace experience had been in the 80s or early 90s with a friend’s strat, which I really liked the responsiveness and feel of.
In my recent search, while looking at the usual suspects - Dimarzio, SD, Barts, Nordstrand, et al - I stumbled across the Alumitone line. Not only visually striking, the demo video sounded great too. The tech is at least equally compelling! Def on my very shortlist, the pre-wired harness may tip it over the top - the wiring in this vid is simply artisanal :).
Glad to see you all really swinging for the fences and keeping the innovation moving forward. Excited to get a set installed in one or more of my basses and put it thru the paces. Cheers!

I have that acoustic pickup and use it on my alverez regent 5212 Dreadnaught on the bridge and it’s actually really good. Of course it’s meant for resonators but it works great for causing natural feedback on a acoustic

I've liked Lace stuff since Fender used them in the 80's. The best part? NO BATTERIES!

I'm pretty sure alumitones are overpriced. In the way of construction they are way easier and way cheaper to make than the usual humbucker or single coil

They are, sadly. They're a superior design that is cheaper to make, and sold at a gross premium.
It is the reason they are not massively popular in the age of DSP.
If they were sold for say €50, it would be a hot cake for anyone recording at home, anyone working with modelling or DSP, or anyone wanting absolute versitality.

You’re paying for the performance and quality of the pickup - not the bill of materials plus labor. If you value the performance as superior to existing pickups, then buy it and be happy. If the market says they’re too much for the performance vs other pickups, I’m sure Lace will adjust. I couldn’t care less about Lace’s margins on their pickups. If they’re being rewarded for their innovation - God bless them. And btw - compare their prices on their traditional Sensors vs other pickups out there - better performance for LESS than the competition. The ultimate triple set goes for $180 vs $300 for competitive sets. IMO the ultimate triple is better but to each their own.
