Very systematically explained the most abstruse philosophical ideologies that existed in India.. this should be put in Indian curriculum (not to be interpreted in a religious sense) to instill a sense of understanding of the wisdom and rationale on which the foundation of this nation is rooted. Thanks for the good work.
Sir this is an awesome work, it is not found anywhere in the internet. You have nailed it. Answering the What is ? question is very important and this video is doingg that in a structured manner. Please upload some more videos like this which explains the terms. In this video itself the explanation for the words like sutra and mimamsa were of very essential and this is a great approach sir. Thank you so much.
That is unfortunately not correct. Buddhism and Jainism believe in reincarnation, but are nastika schools. You could say astika means belief in Atman, Brahman and Isvara; but all that is only taught by the Vedas. Traditionally, astika means acceptance of Vedas as a pramanam or source of knowledge.
Both are preliminary texts thought to be written by Adi Shankaracharya. Atma Bodha translation: www.swamij.com/shankara-atma-bodha.htm ; Tattva Bodha translation: vedantastudents.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/18.-Tattva-Bodha.pdf
For Brahma Sutra, I would recommend Swami Paramarthananda's lecture transcripts: arshaavinash.in/index.php/download/brahma-sutra-by-swami-paramarthananda/ . Please check there for other works like Upanishads as well.
Initially you mentioned that the focus of Brahma Sutras are upanishads. You ended with saying it concludes that there are no contradictions in Shruti or smriti. Therefore, the focus of sutras should be all of upanishads and all of vedas, including the so called Karma Kanda. Otherwise, the sutras won't be able to say there are no contradictions.
Here are the exact sentences: (beginning) The Brahma Sūtra systematically analyzes the teachings of the Upanishads and arrives at logical conclusions without contradictions. (end) In conclusion, the Brahma Sūtra systematically analyzes the teachings of the Upanishads, extracts the central message and demonstrates that the conclusion does not contradict any Shruti or Smriti statements. The Brahma Sutras draws conclusions and shows that the conclusions don't contradict Shruti or Smriti. You are correct in asserting that Shruti includes the entire Vedas, including Karma Kanda. Brahma Sutra has several adhikaranas where objections raised by Purva-Mimamsikas (who focus on the Karma Kanda) are refuted. In that sense, it covers the entire Shruti. But the focus is on Vedanta (Upanishads). Brahma Sutras are also known as Vedanta Sutras. Peace to you.
According to Brahma Sutra...How does one look at Nastiks?? How does one deal with them??? Does a nastiik have any respectable place in the society or should be punished merely for being a Nastik??? Thank you in advance!
Buddhism is the only Nastika school that is refuted by Brahma Sutra. Charvaka is not even mentioned. We should remember that God is in everyone, irrespective of whether they are Astika, Nastika, Hindu, Muslim, Christian, Atheist, etc. Krishna says in the Bhagavad Gita: 6.30 For one who sees Me everywhere and sees everything in Me, I am never lost, nor is he ever lost to Me. 10.20. Oh Arjuna, I am the Self residing in the heart of all beings. I am the beginning, the middle, as well as the end of all beings. So deal with every human being as you would deal with Krishna. It is not right to punish someone because they don't believe in the Vedas. Everyone will realize God in their own time, in this lifetime or in a future life. Peace be with you.
@@TatTvamAsiOM How is god in everyone? All four sentences: 1. Aham Brahma Asmi= I am like the Lord externally 2.Tat Tvam Asi=you look like God externally 3. Ayam Atma Brahma =he looks like God externally. 4. Prajnanam Brahma =differentiates Lord from the other human beings because He possesses special divine knowledge, which no body can possess in this world. The fourth sentence also indicates that you should recognize such God in human form by His special divine knowledge and not by miracles because miracles are done by demons also. The Lord is said to be the true and infinite knowledge by Veda. Bhagavathgita says that the Lord comes to this world only through a human body (Manusheem Tanumasritam’). Gita did not mention that God comes in any other form. People have taken the direct meaning of these sentences and thought “I am God, You are God and He is God”. If you take the meaning like that, do you mean that every body in this world is Lord Krishna? If so, Lord Krishna preached Bagavathgita to Lord Krishna (Himself) only because Arjuna is also Lord Krishna!
@@Ankitgupta-nv6dr Different interpretations of Upanishadic statements give rise to multiple Vedantic schools like Dvaita, Vishistadvaita and Advaita, for example. I provided the Advaita interpretation. You should follow whichever school that you agree with. Peace be with you.

Namaste. Buddha was born around 500BCE. It would have taken some time for Buddhism to spread. But whether it is 500BCE or 500CE doesn't change the fact that the same Vyasa who classified the Vedas could have authored the Brahma Sutra.
The root word (pratipadikam) is ब्रह्मन् (Brahman). Due to sanskrit grammar rules, when that root is converted to a masculine noun, it becomes ब्रह्मा (Brahmā) - the four headed god. When the same root is converted into a neuter noun, it becomes ब्रह्म (Brahma) - the Witness Consciousness principle. My guess is that due to the lack of of two 'a' sounds in English (अ / आ) - there would be confusion between the masculine and neuter words, so the English translations became Brahma for masculine denoting the four headed god, and Brahman for the neuter word. The diacritical ā was a later addition.
@@TatTvamAsiOM thanks. I knew Brahmaa was puranic and Brahma was sought after by Rishis. Didnt know about the root word, now it makes sense. Now just out of curiosity, feminine form would be Brahmi?
@@sillymesilly , that would seem logical, but there are no "-an" ending feminine roots in Sanskrit. Only masculine and neuter genders can be generated from "-an" ending roots. There are a few cases like this - for example, there are no masculine nouns with "-ā" ending - all those words are feminine. I'm no sanskrit expert, BTW.
