'Battle of the Bay' underway in Tampa as part of military showcase

- You might hear explosions, simulated gunfire and helicopters if you are near the Tampa Convention Center on Wednesday.
The U.S. Special Operations Command is hosting a military showcase from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday in downtown Tampa.
The public is encouraged to attend and watch this "rare display of military-tactical-might." The event called "Battle of the Bay" is part of the Special Operations Forces Week annual conference with more than 170 service members taking part in a mock scenario defending Tampa from invaders.

I'm convinced that the SEALs have done nothing of significance since neptune spear, and are just coasting on the cultural significance of Zero Dark Thirty alone. Everyone they work with says they constantly jeopardize missions in search of glory and adrenaline (They even did the same when they crashed a billion dollar stealth copter and shot Osama in the face while under direct orders not to). They should be called the Navy DIVAS: Don't Invite; Very Attention-Seeking

However, space is first-come, first-served and may fill up quickly. Some say the best views are from higher vantage points, such as the Harbour Island Bridge Orr Hospital parking garage

It is free! That is part of the 'GASPARILLA PIRATE FEST'. Tampa city has that festival every year.
Wish this took place on the weekend. I wanted to go to this but I was stuck at work. Hopefully it takes place next year and I can take the day off.

You would use them to get near an objective and make the rest on foot, it’d be pretty dumb to assault an airfield like that
As the other person said, those are typically used for a general area, as they provide less detection than say a c130 with paratroopers or a blackhawk
I was actually surprised with how quiet they sounded, at least judging by this video. Granted, there was background noise.

Always big respect to the members of our Armed Forces and public safety communities. Sadly I found the entire scripting and narration to be pretty much completely ridiculous. Still enjoyed it overall though.

I am honestly suprised they didn't have brass catchers/bags installed to avoid littering the river with thousands of blanks. That's going to be a fun cleanup for some divers. Chance of recovering more than 70% of the brass is minimal. There is already enough trash living on the bottom of that river. Loved the show. Well done and respect!

It great to see this stuff. I remember when I was a kid back in the early 70’s the national guard would have their tanks and stuff in the parade shooting blanks from the 50 cal. All the kids would pick up the brass as souvenirs and take it home

@@chinqlinq89 it's about the most cheapest way to infiltrate from the air with a system that has propulsion to take off and land that is small enough to not be seen at night and can travel for long distance a lot of countries use this system and now that we've seen it used by a terrorist group everybody's going to compare it to that

@@Jguthro There are only so many urban training centers. The military does public exhibitions like this everywhere. You could say any training is for “ civilian unrest “ as potentially any offensive capability could be used that way. The military trains that’s all they do you understand that right? Any unit not in combat is training for that occasion should it happen 24/7.
I am old enough to remember the first time they did this in Miami in the 90s and didn't tell anyone. It freaked everyone out. Now they train for martial law and we applaud.
