What is the need to calculate strength of angle per pitch. And isn't it calculated in a wrong way as the direction of the tensile force is not perpendicular to the net area
What is strength of angle per pitch even called? I think thats the strength due to rupture of critical section with wrong calculation: An=(b-d)*t If longer leg is connected For OB:An=(90-22)*8 For OC:An=(100-22)*6 If shorter leg is connected: For OB: An=(60-22)*8 For OC: An=(65-22)*6 likewise for AD.
@@manishkumarpandey8321 Actually whatever I have studied is washed off right now😂. Right now I have joined NPTEL, DSS for the proctored exam. They are arranging Google Meets there for the queries.I suggest you to join the meetings. Today itself, there was a meeting from 6:00-7:00 pm. The instructor was throwing light on HSFG bolts and related topics. Please join the course and ask on discussion forum. Thank you
Don't forget to calculate the shear on the gusset plate. This can be the critical design factor and has lead to gusset plate and truss failures in the past.
@ 29:35 How can CG alignment be maintained in case of bolted connections as it might not be possible to place bolts at CG due to edge distance restrictions.
@@palashjain5318 but on the field, would you prefer to change the edge distance so that bolts are placed at the centre line or would you go with the same edge distance?
As I was reading one example of design of gusset plate, I found that the bolts should be at the CG line and consideration of the edge distance should be in the direction of loading (like in 15:51) but not in perpendicular direction.
26:24 here the length of connection is 260 mm with the edge distance 40 mm in the direction of loading but not in perpendicular direction. Bolts are put in CG line without considering edge distance in perpendicular direction.

I also don't get it. Are you clear now about the calculation?
@@kkb3091 no, I felt it was redundant.

It is 2022 now. Someone please clear this doubt.

In bearing strength, is it fub or fu to use?

he is trying to mean the centre line of all the connected members must coincide at a point, so that no moment is generated about centre point.

Because the min edge distance= 1.5* dh = 1.5 *22 =33 mm. And here the chosen one is e = 40 mm. We can increase it anytime.

At 20:04, thickness is taken as 16mm but calculated thickness is 12mm , why???
at 17.35 for V_dpb fu is not multiplied
And here fu is taken of ultimate strength of bolt but in formula it is of plate that is fu=410 n/mm2, there will be 410 in place of 400
