"I felt like I was helping people"
Yes you did. I learned all my bike maintenance, more confident to go out there and not scared to get a puncture or malfunction because I learned how to repair, and was able to help out friends with their bikes with this channel :) thank you!

+1 to this. The instructions, close-ups, and the 1min recap at the end is extremely helpful. The dynamic of the master (Macky) and the apprentice (Syd), is very unique too. Short of the full production videos that ParkTool does on their channel, this is pretty amazing quality.

Please keep the channel going! Two big things for me: 1- There's no BS/hard sell/posing 2- I feel it's a safe channel for my kids to watch, when plenty of YT channels are just not appropriate. Thanks for all your work so far!

Huge props on your work guys! I live in a town in Australia where the local mechanic sucks and the next closest one is an hour away. Through your videos (and others) I've got to a level of proficiency where I was able to tear my dual suspension down entirely and rebuild, replacing worn parts are required. The understanding and techniques that you guys have given me has been amazing, thank you very very much!

While I really enjoy your videos, I agree that fewer videos is good because it means that you are finding meaningful activity. Glad to hear that Syd can see a pathway to return to racing. Don’t rush it! Get it right the first time. I’ll keep you both covered in prayer. Kill it at Breck! Good luck!

I think a good video series would be when your racing is just tuning your bike up after the day and washing it, it’s different but I would still enjoy that watching you figure out what’s wrong with your bike and then fix it

Yeah Syd there is definitely a difference in your confidence that you know what you are doing with bike maintenance compared to those first bike fixing videos. It's cool. And I'm glad you made it through the darker times ok.

When I got my first real bike. I started to have the obsession in learning how to do repairs when the time comes. When I first experienced a ticking sound when coasting, I discovered that it was the disk brakes. After searching for a video that made sense, I found this channel with how to realign the brake caliper. The steps worked perfectly and I haven't had an issue with the brakes ever since. Thanks for putting great, quality, simple to understand videos for people like me who want to understand how to get something fixed. I'm definitely going to sub to your vlog channel!

I think what you've created here might possibly be the best source of bike mechanic knowledge available on the internet. You bring it down to basics that a dummy such as myself can absorb most of the useful knowledge in one go. Back when all I had was Park Tool videos I'd have to sit there with the video next to my bike and rewind several times for every step and still not really be able to put it in memory for next time. The fact that we're kind of learning with you just makes it so much better.
Keep up the good work 🤙

I think you guys are great and have given a huge amount of help to a lot of people. I'm actually really impressed with how fast you put out videos in the past I don't think anyone minds waiting a little while between videos. And we all understand if you have more fun things to do:-) traveling and riding is much more fun than editing and researching.
I do heating and air conditioning in New Mexico. I highly recommend a hyper heat mini split for your heating and cooling needs. Super-efficient, no need for gas, can be hooked to Wi-Fi to control from your phone to turn on before you want to go out there, also is refrigerated air so you have Cooling in the summer and usually can be installed in one day. Good luck with everything. Hope to see you pass me on the trails one day!

I've never even ridden an MTB, I'm just on a used commuter bike for leisure / fitness around town. But even so, your videos have been great demystifying some technology around bicycling (it's changed since I tore around the neighbourhood on a heavy steel BMX in the 80's - I *might* have offered that chain a squirt of oil, once or twice, and my shoe wedged on the back tyre became my new brakes when the original ones wore out).
Anyway, thank you and be proud of the great library you've already produced, it will continue helping people even if you can't post as regularly anymore. Best wishes training & racing, from New Zealand.

PS. My brakes are now not rubbing! I used a wedge to keep the brake pads open when i removed the wheel because a friend has had bad experience with that and one piston got pushed back so i think that made an old problem very noticeable. I had to push them both back before i could make methods 1 and 3 work. So thanks again. 😃👍

I love this channel, it's so useful for beginner mechanics. Believe it or not this is how I found you and then discovered your main channel. I always repaired my bikes by myself, but was limited by my knowledge. A few years ago I started watching youtube videos to learn more about it and do more complex things, so youtube decided to suggest one of your first videos about bike repairs and maintenance, it was the lower service on a fox fork. Needless to say I got hooked to both this channel and your vlog channel.
If you want a few ideas for new videos to be done in the winter times I'll propose two of the most confusing topics for me: bottom bracket and head set size, type and standard and how to find which one is on your bike if you need to replace it. It drives me completely crazy.

You should do exactly what you want to do! I feel like you're bike maintenance videos have covered most things the "average" person will tackle on their bike and more blog type content could be good in summer months. It's amazing how an injury can change how you use your spare time, I picked up mountain biking for the first time in 15ish years after a year in recovery from a motorbike crash. Won't ever be winning any races, but it's been a great replacement for motorbiking and your videos helped me get up to speed with a lot of the new tech since I took up the sport again (even tubeless tires were seriously exotic when I was younger!)

Picked up a few tips and tricks off this channel and learnt alot off the main channel for training and riding styles on different surfaces. Best thing about these to is they never push or ram products at you give very neutral views and information which is a real eye openers to racing mtb. We all knew Syd would bounce back. Got a very supportive family and friends oh and macky 🤣 and of course all of us 👍. Doing bike maintenance videos off season and training and events on other channel would make perfect sense to me. I sprained my shoulder and tore my MCL and I've been down & out for the past 6 weeks now. It was my first video shoot down in Brooklyn. Can't do anything for another month or so really, but I should be good for bikepacking in the Fall. However, I've been easing myself back with hiking & a little riding here & there. I feel good, but I know I'm not "there" yet.
For 2020, I was literally on the frontlines in New York City and saw the worst of it (the corpses, the makeshift morgues, the empty streets, the doctors & nurses crying on the side of the hospitals, etc...), so while everybody else was quarantined, I was working overtime as an Essential Person. 2021 has been my recovery time while everybody else was starting to get back to normal again.
Anyway, you guys deserved your break. Thanks for the content. Relax and don't miss the forest for the trees.

I would be very interested to see race and travel related maintenance. Such as maintenance on the road while traveling. Pit/support set up. And not just you guys but what others do or what big teams do. What are their set up? What should you take to a race? What should a privateer have with them on a road when they can bring their entire shop? What are some common in race “hacks” to get you off the mountain and maybe even to the finish? For example, what do you do when you smash or bend a derailleur hanger mid race? Do you walk out or do you make your bike single speed and crack on?
You two have obviously seen a ton while racing, good and bad, so peeling back the tarp on those stories would be interesting.

Your videos really help me. I’m going on a week bike packing trip, and am downloading some of your videos, just in case 🤣🤣 your videos are easier for me to understand than some other videos on UA-cam. So, thank you! And, I’m glad to hear you two are getting in some riding!

You are basically Macky's race team! Be cool to just make this channel about that...how you prep the bike before and after on race day, prepare meals before and after races, help your hubby plan for the race, etc... Then when you start racing, how he supports you if you aren't racing on the same day, etc...

Thank you! Please consider covering older technology like rim brakes, etc for us vintage bike owners.
