Ohooooo no my natural hair mate that anywhere I go I will be asked if I am Onyeka Onwenu or the sister because of our hair colour and looks may her soul rest in Peace.
You are indeed a great researcher, I am 65years and all you said is true. Her youthful, glamorous, fearless and acting days. I loved everything about her and am going to miss her. Condolences to ME and the family

A beautiful, multi-talented, intelligent, amazing woman, who carried herself with so much style, excellence & grace. She set her feet on the sands of time in an exceptional way & achieved so much. Her passing was so sudden & shocking, but she lives on forever in the hearts of those who knew & loved her dearly. What a life & legacy she leaves behind. May her gentle soul continue to rest in peace 🙏
Sleep on daughter of Zion till the resurrection day of the saints you are indeed the example of “one love “your song you sang to rest in peace in God love
We “The African Movie Club Members “ of the U. S. Virgin Islands are very sad to hear of her passing. Nollywood & Nigeria has lost one of its most brilliant stalwart. May she Rest In Peace & rise in the power!
It's such a BIG shock to hear about her passing. I was online when the news about her demise popped up on UA-cam around midnight here in Nigeria and I shouted in disbelief. Then, wished it was not true, but later in the day, the local news channels and his excellency Mr. Peter Obi's comments confirmed the sad news. Growing up, Onyeka Onwenu was a household name, her music ALWAYS got us up to our dancing feet singing along. We just couldn't have enough of her. Whenever we heard the sound of her music we came running closer to either dance to the song on the radio or dance while watching it on TV. My mother bought every single album of hers. When her music played on the TV, sometimes, I would stop dancing to maximally appreciate her natural beauty, elegance, poise, heartfelt smiles, grace, and beautiful voice. Watching her always got me smiling spontaneously, and her meaningful lyrics like "Let there be peace in our hearts, peace in our homes, peace in the nation and the world...." always got me thinking about how much of this much-needed peace is lacking. I weep as I write this, but I take solace in the fact that she got to be gracefully 72 years old, served her family and beloved country Nigeria very well, and she died a happy death doing the things she knew how to passionately do best which were singing to entertain people and make them happy, preaching love and peace, wishing people well, appreciating women/mothers and blessing everybody. It was indeed a peaceful and happy death. She DEFINITELY rests on in the BLESSED BOSOM OF GOD ALMIGHTY. AMEN!!! My favorite songs of hers are The Peace Song, Iyogogo, Chukwu Biko Gozie Ochie Dike Mama, Dancing In The Sun, You and I, just to mention a few. In fact, I love all of her songs. I remember when she came to my school during the family planning campaign, I made sure to stand very close to the podium as we assembled to welcome and listen to her, so that I could behold and feel her beauty and grace. And when she sang the song she did with King Sunny Ade, her lovely voice was so beautiful and clear even though she sang without any special effects using our school's ordinary microphone. We happily sang along. She indeed, fought the good fight for humanity selflessly and gave her love and blessings in abundance. Ga nke oma, Ochie dike Mama. Your good legacy lives on. Eternal rest grant unto her soul, O Lord, and let Your Perpetual Light shine Upon Her soul. AMEN. May she rest in perfect peace. AMEN !!!
I fell in love with her when I was a teenager in the 80s, it was a sad day on the 30th of July 2024 when she passed! I am still speechless! May her beautiful soul rest in peace!😢😢
she lived a happy life and achieved all she ever wanted even though she came from a generation where women were powerless but she broke boundaries and inspired many young girls growing up, she will be remembered forever after all
In her generation women were no longer powerless to pursue their dreams. My mom is older with a number of years, and she also went to the university in the beginning of the 70s and pursued her dreams as much as she could. At times we exaggerate the undermining of the African woman. At least in southern Nigeria, women are encouraged to soar.
Legendary Onyeka Onwenu was a stunningly gorgeous woman with a captivating smile. May her beautiful and gentle soul rest in perfect peace, amen 😭 🙏🏾. May God Almighty comfort her children and families she left behind 🙏🏾.
Wow!!! A Legend, a warrior, a talented singer, hard-working an epitome of beauty and grace! Her songs are and will ever remain evergreen! Rest in Peace ma, Nigeria and the world will miss you and we hope your legacy will stretch this generation and the next to come.
Onyeka Onwuenu has been my favourite icon. Growing up, I wanted to sing like her and carry myself like her. I so much adore her. She's very beautiful and elegant even till age 72. Hmmm Neze, this death pained me! Can't stop crying 😢😢😢😢😢. May her soul Rest In Peace! Nigeria has lost a voice.
She will forever be remembered. She lived an eventful life full of accomplishments. She was very involved and pure celebrity and legend. Death is inevitable, mama go well. May the soul of Onyeka O. And the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen
Onyeka Onwenu and I attended Wellesley College together from 1972 to 1976. We met on the first day of our freshman year. Onyeka was, even then, as a young student, regal in bearing, and utterly charismatic. Our rooms were adjacent, and she would sing at top volume and with spectacular verve and grace her favorite songs- serenading us as we gathered in the hallway late at night - or in the showers in the morning! Onyeka was fearless, and inspired me by her sense of purpose and by her sheer joy at being alive. I will always cherish the memory of our friendship and salute her many achievements as an artist and activist, as a woman who lived and served her country, and embraced every opportunity to contribute to its welfare. She gave so much to so many. May she rest in peace and may her sons know how well their mother was loved by so many - both bear and far.
As a Ghanaian I admired this woman from afar. I got to know her from the role she played in the movie “Rising moon”. May her beautiful soul rest in peace. 🙏🏾🙏🏾
She a was a legend ,well loved in Nigeria and Africa in general. An icon. Chai, life. May we live long to reap the fruits of our labour. I remember 1980’s I bought a brand new AKAI cassette stereo. I used to play her music on the stereo, can’t forget the tweeters her music was producing. Very lovely. Among my favourite tracks was “ You and I will live as one”. May your gentle soul rest in peace Icon. Nwanyi eji eme onu. Life……..❤
We can see how passionate she was about our country Nigeria, this legendary talented stat is gone leaving Nigeria worse than the way it was then.May her soul continues to rest in peace amen
I heard the news, i got shocked, i shed a tear, then i moved on, only for the shock to reshock me again when i remembered most of her prominent songs i used to dance to, the ones i soliloquize with, i remember how my mom loved her and her songs so much and used her lyrics to teach us a lot of life's lessons, i remember how my father would play her songs on cool Sunday evenings alongside other prominent singers like Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey, Osadebe and the rest, thus I realized this is Onyeka Onwenu we are talking about... Then it dawned on me and reality hit me, my tears has ever flowed endlessly since the news, i have played her songs over and over and it makes it even worse... Ga nke oma nneoma, may the Heavens welcome you and keep your soul in peaceful style... Rest well mama. Neze. You mistakenly said she died on the 30th of June, instead of July, i dont know how you'd correct that but it is important bcos i know that your videos carry a lot of deep messages, meanings and vibes and people like us would want our children referred to videos like this in future to know more about important people who lived in the past, so please kindly edit the video and add something like a "Pop-Up Note" that indicates the right date, so whoever watches would take note and be adequately informed. Thank you Neze for all that you do...👍🏽 You know you are my sister and i meant that literarily but lets leave that for another day.😅 Stay blessed...🙏🏽
If you love me, you will wait for me. She sang with King Sunny Ade in the beat to fight premarital sex and stop spread of HIV, I love her to my bones. I wish she stayed much longer. RIP ma'am. ❤
I fell in love with Onyeka in the 90's while I was growing up as a young girl. Oh her voice, her talent in acting, her assertive and ordacious personality, a no-nonsense woman, I'll really miss everything about her, may God rest her soul Amen.
She had a remarkable beauty. I could stare at her face for hours. And she had this grace she carried all the time. I always want to watch any movie she featured in. May she rest in peace.
She was indeed an epitome of beauty and brains! Her death was indeed a rude shock to me! May her beautiful and melodious soul rest in perfect peace! Amennnnnnnn!!!!
She is a rare gem. A woman.with no negate mixup.full of positive emotions for d betterment of his ppl and country. D lord welcome ur heart for mankind. Rip
So sad . May her very beautiful soul Rest In Peace Amen . I remember those days when she came to my secondary school Idia college in Benin City to lecture us about sex education. She sang her wait for me and Winnie Mandela songs. She told us the story behind the Winnie song . We were all over her to the extent that our female teachers were jealous as if we showed her so much love and respect that we don’t show them . She mentioned that her son’s name was Tijani Charles, and we all screamed with so much excitement. She was so beautiful. God comfort her children and entire family. 🕯️🕊️💐💐💐💐
A good woman. A strong woman. A legend. Her song that made an impact in my life is "iyo go go". Thank you, Nezeville, for putting those together in a very short while.
1984 I watched her perform in The Lord's Club in Yaba . Her velvet voice vibrates through the entire building while she performed Allelua. Nne mu, and one Love. I couldn't stop admiring this beautiful woman
An icon of love, peace and passion. Her dedication to God and her fearlessness remains an inspiration to everyone. I hope she keeps enjoying with God in heaven.❤
Life is just a vapor, her passing gives me flashbacks of how my Dad died. He woke up, had a good day and by evening had a medical emergency and was gone .I couldn’t believe it,I couldn’t breathe. Death is so painful, and I certainly understand what the family is going through. I pray 🙏 God gives them the strength , heart and peace that she’s in Gods presence.
A woman full of so much love not just for her family but the country at large. Growing up I listened to many of her songs that inspired me so much. Some which I don't even know the wordings. You lived a fulfilled life giving out your best to the people you love. You will be greatly missed mama Onyeka. It is a lost to Nigerian and the world at large. Go in the light of our Lord Jesus Christ. RIP my legend
It is so sad. My condolences to her children, families, friends and Nigerians at large Madam Onyeka Onwenu was from the same village with my step mother in Arondizuogu. @ Nezevile, you're too much providing us all this her information within 24 hours i give you 10,000 👍
Thank you for the comprehensive details. Many bloggers just give sketchy stories, but you have done this with great passion. I like your voice and choice of words. You were unbiased and kind in your descriptions. This is excellent. Keep it up. May her family find solace in God. It's painful to loose a loved one. Thank you.
She was an embodiment of courage, strength, intelligence, grace and talents! True to herself and all around her. She came, saw,and conquered! An inevitable end, Mama may ur beautiful soul rest in peace! U'll surely be missed
I remembered those earlier years of our marriage, and my husband would beg me to me to cut my hair like Onyeka's. She was a simple, natural, bold, and 'silently' person. May her gentle soul rest in peace 🙏 Amen.
Neze your such a great storyteller, i get captivated and compelled to watch to the end. Indeed she was such an epitome of beauty, many talent, intelligence and grace. A woman to be admired. May her soul RIP😢
Onyeka was a woman of uncommon purpose, impeccable character and an epitome of beauty. May God bless her beautiful soul. Her song, " One Love Keeps Us together" lives in memory of her ❤
She was indeed an all round entertainer, an icon, well deserving of the status of her legendary status. I loved her so much. Her eloquence, her charisma, and elegance always got me. Iyogogo is my favorite song from her. That song makes me dance any day, anytime.
Oh dear, the elegant stallion I'm still speechless hearing the news of her passing, she gives me so much joy while growing up, the entertainment industry has lost a rare gem, you will always be remembered, my heartfelt condolences, GOD grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss, your legacy lives on mummy Onyeka. GOD grant your melodious soul eternal rest.
May her soul continue to rest in perfect peace . The you I truly love with all my heart. You will forever be remembered for your beauty, singing, dancing steps, your love for your country Nigeria n for your independence to show us that women must stand firm for what they want rather than take rubbish from h husband all in the name of Marriage. Cuddles to you even in death Madam Onyeka. Thanks to you too my beautiful Neze the great Narrator. We all listening to you daily love you dearly. May God keep you long! long!! In good health for us. IJN Amen
I woke up this morning thinking of watching your mini documentary on this legendary figure. By the time I came to UA-cam, it was one of the video lines up for me to watch! May she RIP. And well done to you, Neze❤
So sad indeed. I grew up listening to all her songs and they are indeed evergreen. RIP woman of valour. Nigeria has definitely lost a great legend. I dare say she was the Miriam Makeba of Nigeria 😢😢😢😢
My God, as a non Nigerian I generally loved this lady, even danced to her music while in Nigeria, however, hearing all these a achievements, I can't help but cry! She was such a versatile soul! RIP mama
Thank you Neze you are doing amazing things. I am making a plea that you do a documentary on Chiamanda Adichie. I want to watch you do that whilst she's still living. You can even add Dora Akunyili of blessed memory. Ngozi Okonjo iweala and so many women who are making marks in our society today, women defying the odds and paving their way to the top. Thank you. It's a humble plea o.
Onyeka was an integral part of my childhood. She was uniquely unique and passionate about Nigeria. May her soul rest in perfect peace. Great docu which captured her life story succinctly. Well done Nezeville
She was very beautiful indeed! I always enjoyed listening to all of her music especially the Igbo ones, then “One love” and “Peace in our hearts”! I admired the way she carried herself with so much elegance and grace and oh she speaks so eloquently. Ada Mazi!!! The Elegant Stallion ! May her sweet gentle and humble soul rest in perfect peace! Thank you Nezeville for this piece! You’re amazing.
Queen Neze 👑 I feel same way you feel in this NARRATION. In tears right now 😞. I love her EKWE, ONYE GAGBA EGWU, IYO OGOGO. Since early yesterday morning I heard the news of death, I have not been myself. My daughter noticed my mood and has been encouraging me to pick up myself. This is exactly the same way I was caught up when Bimbo Odukoya died in Sosoloso aeroplane crash. May her soul rest in peace. Queen Neze 👑 sincerely speaking there is no one that knows late Elegant Stallion ONYEKA Onwenu and her impacts that listens to this NARRATION that will not sob unless he or she has a heart of stone.
Live on my sister onyeka. You lived a good life.An example to women that they could become anything in life .That women could work for their money, not depending on men.Good night the great woman of God.See you on resurrection morning. We are proud of you.
Thank you for the thorough edification of late Onyeka. She was a force and seeing this I feel she was not well recognized. May her soul rest in the bosom of our Lord.
This statement from her will continue to resonate with me :"..............if you don't want us, let us go ".This was in response to the maginalisation of Ndigbo in Nigeria .
It's so so sad that she passed when it's time for her children to take care of her; may her soul rest in the bossom of the Almighty God. Amen.😢😢😢 Thank you for sharing this heart broken news.😢😢😢
This brings tears to my eyes. I hope felt how much she was love and appreciated. there was something about her that just made me feel happy listening to her songs growing up. Maybe it's because she snags about the struggles we all were going through as children and women in Nigeria. May she rest in perfect peace. I really like the song that you played in the last part of the content. I listen to it growing up as Esan girl. Thank you for sharing this..
Thank you for doing this... For covering her life story and throwing more insight on her legendry life. I've come to appreciate her more! She was a legend! Is a legend!! Wow!!
She will forever be adored and respected by me. She was my role model. The news of her death was like a shock to me. Am not happy about her passing but God Almighty Father knows the best. My prayer for her is that her gentle and loving Will rest in peace!! I will miss her !! I will miss her golden voice!
Life is like a market where every human being comes to sell and we will all return back home when it is time to return. One of her songs ( eko Dara pupo )which means education is very important, makes me determined to further my education in 1988 despite all what I was going through then. She is like a mirror which I was looking up to. May mama soul rest in peace. She died doing what she loves doing best by using music to communicate with us Nigeria. One love keep us together ❤love u mama.
Hello Neze, I'm a Sierra Leonean, to help you with pronouncing Fourabay University of Sierra Leone, you can easily say Fraa-bay with the ( ou) silenced. Love so much Neze, you're a genius 👌
Thank you so much Neze for all the work you put in to bring us a fully loaded video of information on Onyeka. It is evident you did a large scale research and this video is a well rounded one leaving no detail out. I totally enjoyed watching because some of the information came brand new to me. E.g, I never knew she was ever legally married. I just thought she went and had babies by a baby daddy lover of hers. Now I know better. It is indeed a huge loss to our nation, lady of songs, an iconic and legendary personality whose impact is already engraved in the historical stones of our nation. May her sweet and ever radiant soul find eternal rest with our God. GOOD NIGHT ONYEKA ONWENU.

A living Legend whose impressions on the Ropes and Sands of times lives forever.

So true well presented
She made a mark with her talents. She impacted so positively on the society. Farewell! The womenfolk will miss you. Rest in the bosom of your creator.
She will forever be missed. May her gentle soul rest in peace IJN 😢😢😢
This statement from her will continue to resonate with me :"..............if you don't want us, let us go ".This was in response to the maginalisation of Ndigbo in Nigeria .
May her gentle lovable aspiring and eventful soul rest in eternity 😢🕊️🕊️
Nezeville, I enjoyed listening to your biography of Onyeka Onwenu. You kept it simple and in chronological order. Well done girl.
It's so so sad that she passed when it's time for her children to take care of her; may her soul rest in the bossom of the Almighty God. Amen.😢😢😢
Thank you for sharing this heart broken news.😢😢😢
This brings tears to my eyes. I hope felt how much she was love and appreciated. there was something about her that just made me feel happy listening to her songs growing up. Maybe it's because she snags about the struggles we all were going through as children and women in Nigeria. May she rest in perfect peace. I really like the song that you played in the last part of the content. I listen to it growing up as Esan girl. Thank you for sharing this..
Keep up the good work Neze nwa ❤

My prayer for her is that her gentle and loving Will rest in peace!! I will miss her !! I will miss her golden voice!
Life is like a market where every human being comes to sell and we will all return back home when it is time to return. One of her songs ( eko Dara pupo )which means education is very important, makes me determined to further my education in 1988 despite all what I was going through then. She is like a mirror which I was looking up to. May mama soul rest in peace. She died doing what she loves doing best by using music to communicate with us Nigeria. One love keep us together ❤love u mama.
OMG ....I use to watch this lady...I loved her so much ❤❤❤ am so heartbroken
Hello Neze, I'm a Sierra Leonean, to help you with pronouncing
Fourabay University of Sierra Leone,
you can easily say Fraa-bay with the ( ou) silenced.
Love so much Neze, you're a genius 👌
You did a great job with her story, quite insightful ❤. Thank you Neze.
